"Survivor Heroes Vs. Villains" (Season 20) Quiz

Candice finished 8th in the "Cook Islands". James placed 6th in "China" and 7th in "Micronesia". Jerri placed 8th in "Australia" and 10th in "All-Stars". Randy finished 8th in "Gabon" as did Tyson in "Tocantins".

In episode two, Rob Mariano collapsed in the jungle while scavenging with Jerri. The health team was summoned and it was eventually determined he was suffering from the flu. Rob decided to stay in the game and regarded the crisis as a moment of clarity for himself.

He decided to stop overexerting himself at camp, to embrace his villain designation and to "stop trying to be the good guy".

Answer: Candice and Cirie

Getting rid of Sugar was one of the few unanimous votes throughout "Heroes Vs. Villains". Afterwards, a heated argument between James and Stephanie divided the tribe into two rival factions of three: Amanda and J.T. with James, and Colby and Tom with Stephanie. Candice and Cirie were wooed heavily by both sides but in the end went along with Amanda, James and J.T. to vote out Stephanie.

Although "banana etiquette" would later become one of the reasons, albeit hardly the most important one, the Heroes voted out James, it was not the reason that Stephanie and James argued, thus splitting the tribe. James felt that the Heroes were losing challenges because they were not working as a team when competing.

He specifically called out Stephanie as being driven by ego instead of team spirit. When Stephanie tried to defend herself it made James more irate, loud and aggressive. A line in the sand was drawn....

Answer: Russell was blamed for losing or hiding the machete.

In episode six, Boston Rob ridiculed Russell's gameplay. Rob tells Russell "It's better to play with me than against me" and cites the facts that he looked for the idol after the majority decided it should not be sought and that he openly was aligning himself with Parvati, the majority's target. No one caught on that Russell hid the machete from the tribe; some erroneously thought Randy had done so because he was being voted out later that day.

Answer: Cirie confided to Amanda and James that their ally J.T. was her next target.

Cirie is much too savvy a player to reveal her cards before necessary; she knew it would be best for her to stick to the plan to eliminate Tom and Colby (whom she deemed threats because they were strong and unlikely to ally with a non-athletic female). Unfortunately for her, J.T. considered her his biggest threat.

When she succeeded in flipping the expulsion vote back from Candice to Tom, effectively out-persuading J.T., he saw his chance to get rid of a huge threat, burn Tom's hidden immunity idol, and regain control of his alliance.

It was a great move by a great player taking out an even better player.

Answer: J.T. wanted to save Courtney from being ousted at tribal council that night.

Poor J.T.! Had his assumptions of an all-girls alliance led by Parvati been correct, he might have been revered as a genius rather than lampooned as an idiot! Nevertheless, he did not have all the facts and we all know what they say about making assumptions. J.T. had noticed the trend on the heroes side had been to vote out strong guys rather than weak girls, a pattern seen before in "Survivor Micronesia" where Parvati had helped lead an all-girl alliance to the end. By giving Russell his hidden immunity idol he hoped to have Russell use it to blindside Parvati, thus sending her home and wounding the supposed girls alliance. Furthermore, he hoped this gesture of trust would solidify Russell in with the Heroes, giving them the necessary numbers post-merge to oust the remaining villains. Poor J.T!

Answer: Rupert

Of the four choices only Rupert never won an individual immunity challenge. Danielle, in episode 10, won the first post-merge immunity challenge when she was able to hold on to a pole the longest without touching the ground. Jerri won her first ever in episode 11 when she was first to erect a ten-foot tower of wooden tiles. Candice won back in episode 6; although the contestants were still divided into tribes, players competed for individual immunity in this one challenge because both teams had to attend tribal council and vote someone out.

It is true that Russell was the only male to win an individual immunity challenge post-merge in Heroes Vs. Villains. In fact, he won twice and Parvati, Jerri, and Danielle collected the rest. However, Boston Rob also won an individual immunity in episode 6 when both tribes had to go to tribal council, and immunity was granted to a member of each tribe.

Answer: Colby told Amanda to give the clue back to Danielle.

For lovers of the game, Colby's decision was incredulous at best! Colby and Amanda were allied and Danielle was their opponent. Yet, even with the clue in Amanda's hand, and considering there are no rules regarding possession of the clue itself, Colby suggested that Amanda give back the clue without reading it. Amanda knew bad advice when she heard it but unfortunately caved in - she was voted off next.

Answer: Sandra and Russell

Russell, Sandra and Tom were the only players in the game to play idols found by them, not by others. Of the three only Tom was able to "save" himself from eviction since neither Russell nor Sandra were in jeopardy when they played the ones they found. Earlier in the game, Russell found another idol which he gave to Parvati, and at a later tribal council, Sandra played an idol given to her by Parvati. J.T. also found an idol but foolishly handed this over to Russell, who gave it to Parvati, who gave it to Jerri to play! In summation, Russell found two idols, of which he gave one to Parvati and played one himself. Tom found one idol which he immediately played for himself. J.T. found one idol which ended up being played by Jerri. Parvati found one idol which was played by Sandra. Finally, Sandra found the last remaining hidden immunity idol which she played herself at the last possible opportunity to play it.

Answer: Rupert put a rock in his pocket and insinuated it was the hidden immunity idol.

Jeff Probst surprised all the remaining players when he read the clue for the hidden immunity idol to the entire group, causing a mad dash back to the camp to begin the search for it. Knowing that he was the intended target for the evening's vote, and because he did not think the idol had been found (although unbeknownst to all it had been by Sandra), Rupert put a rock in his pocket and subtly insinuated that the idol was in his possession.

Therefore the "villain" majority split the votes between Rupert and Candice in case Rupert played the idol.

Moreover, Colby and Rupert smartly also voted for Candice which gave her the necessary numbers to send her home.

Answer: James

James was arguably the physically strongest competitor ever to play "Survivor". However, his determination in challenges led to injuries in both this season and in "Micronesia" which led to his elimination. In "Micronesia" he was forcibly removed by production because they feared infection of his wounds; in "Heroes Vs. Villains" his alliance reluctantly ousted him because they viewed his injured knee as a liability to winning challenges.

Answer: She burned Russell's hat in the fire.

Sandra strongly disliked Russell and had hoped to get rid of him throughout the game. On the morning before the final three left for tribal council, a morning in which Russell further infuriated her with his patronizing, she waited for him to leave the camp and then threw his hat into the fire.

She surmised that Russell's ego needed the hat to hide his bald-spot, and she hoped to take away his "security blanket" before the jury arguments. What she did not know was that burning personal possessions was a technique that Russell had used himself in the "Samoa" game to cause tension in his tribe: the karmic circle indeed.

Answer: Courtney, J.T., Amanda, Candice, Rupert, and Colby

Sandra won "Survivor 20: Heroes Vs Villains" with votes from six of the nine jury members. She received the vote from all five heroes (J.T., Amanda, Candice, Rupert, and Colby) on the jury AND one vote from Courtney, a villain. Parvati received the remaining three votes from the villains (Coach, Danielle, and Jerri) on the jury other than Courtney. Russell did not receive a single vote.
