1. Dr. Lisa Cuddy

As the Dean of Medicine, Dr. Lisa Cuddy was one of the few people who could tell Dr. Gregory House, maverick diagnostician, what to do. Even then, he didn't usually listen. In later seasons, they had an on-off romance. Dr. Cuddy was played by Boston native Lisa Edelstein.
2. Dr. Miranda Bailey

In the first season of "Grey's Anatomy," Miranda Bailey was the resident at Seattle Grace who oversaw the original five surgical interns: Meredith Grey, Cristina Yang, Izzie Stevens, George O'Malley, and Alex Karev. As the series developed, Dr. Bailey faced a number of personal and professional challenges, but was dedicated to teaching her charges to the best of her ability.

3. Dr. Susan Lewis

5. Dr. Abigail Bartlet

Dr. Abigail Bartlet was busy, as she was both a Harvard-trained physician and the First Lady of the United States. She was active in politics as well, advocating for children, equal pay, and a national health system. Dr. Bartlet was played by Stockard Channing, a Manhattan native who won the 2002 Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of the multitalented Dr. First Lady.
6. Dr. Jennifer Melfi

Dr. Melfi was one of the few people in Tony Soprano's life who wasn't afraid to tell him what she thought. In the pilot of "The Sopranos," Tony went to see Dr. Melfi, a psychiatrist, to help with his panic attacks. This was the beginning of a long, complex, and challenging relationship between the two.
Despite some temptations, Dr. Melfi stuck to her professional ethics. She was played by New York native Lorraine Bracco.
7. Dr. Dana Scully

Most of Dr. Dana Scully's patients were of the non-living kind, as she was a forensic pathologist. Extremely intelligent and knowledgable, Dr. Scully contrasted with her FBI partner, the more open-minded Fox Mulder. Gillian Anderson's portrayal of Dr. Scully was so influential, she is credited with an uptick of women and girls studying science. Gillian was born in Chicago but spent much of her childhood in London.
8. Dr. Jill Brock

In "Picket Fences," Dr. Jill Brock was a small town doctor married to the local sheriff, raising a blended family together. Dr. Brock was a voice of reason in the quirky town and a devoted mother and wife. She was played by Kathy Baker, who won three Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Baker graduated from UC Berkeley before entering the acting world in San Francisco.
9. Dr. Elliot Reid

Dr. Elliot Reid was in a group of interns at Sacred Heart Hospital in "Scrubs." Naturally competitive, Elliot soon realized she needed help from her colleagues to be successful as a physician. She was close with fellow interns Turk and J.D., and had a long on-off relationship with J.D. Dr. Reid was played by Ottawa native Sarah Chalke.
10. Dr. Temperance Brennan

Dr. Brennan's nickname was the name of the television show: "Bones." Bones was considered one of the best forensic anthropologists in the field. From her lab in Washington, D.C., she partnered with the FBI to solve complex crimes using forensic science. Dr. Brennan's childhood had been unpredictable and challenging; it drove her to become extremely precise as a scientist.
She was played by California native Emily Deschanel.
