Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "In the eyes of a ranger, the unsuspecting stranger had better know the truth of wrong from right ..." is the beginning of what action TV series?

Answer: "Walker, Texas Ranger"

This show ran for several seasons. Its main character is karate expert Chuck Norris, who has appeared in several ninja style films. He is also the narrator and singer at the beginning of "Walker, Texas Ranger."
2. "Turn on the light from Heaven, Lord..." came from which TV sitcom?

Answer: "Amen"

"Amen" starred Sherman Hemsley, who played a church deacon. Hemsley was also well-known for his role as businessman and sometimes funny, loud-mouthed George Jefferson from "The Jeffersons." The show, "Amen", only lasted about five seasons.
3. "And if you threw a party; inviting everyone you knew, you would see the biggest gift would be from me..." is part of which 80's sitcom?

Answer: "The Golden Girls"

All of the shows listed here were written by Susan Harris. "The Golden Girls" ran for seven seasons and starred Estelle Getty (Sophia). Beatrice Arthur, Betty White, and Rue McClenahan all were Broadway actresses and, because of such, knew the meaning of timing when it came to their wit and sarcasm on the show. "The Golden Girls" is one of my all-time favorite shows.
4. Which TV sitcom theme song had the line, "Straightening the curves; flattening the hills; someday the mountain might get them but the law never will"?

Answer: "The Dukes of Hazzard"

Country music singer, Waylon Jennings, was not only the balladeer for "The Dukes Of Hazzard" but he was also the narrator in the show's 7 year running. This show starred Tom Wopat (Luke), John Schneider (Bo), and Catherine Bach (Daisy). Schneider would later try and become a successful country music singer. Because of the car chases, this is another of my all-time favorite sitcoms.
5. "In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they did not commit..." is the beginning theme from which hour long 1980's TV show?

Answer: "The A-Team"

"The A-Team" starred such famous actors as Mr. T who had also starred in a "Rocky" film. It also starred Dwight Schultz (Murdoch) who would later play one of the officers (Reggie) in "Star Trek: The Next Generation." "The A-Team" was successful because of the action and because of Mr. T's famous retort, "I pity the fool!"
6. Fill in the blank of this TV theme song line. "____ ________ ________; soon we'll be making another run. _____ _____ _____ promises something for everyone...."

Answer: The Love Boat

One ships used in the series sitcom "The Love Boat" was the vessel Royal Princess. It was not the only boat used.
7. "Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale; a tale of a fateful trip...." is the beginning of what famous TV sitcom?

Answer: "Gilligan's Island"

"Gilligan's Island" starred Bob Denver (Gilligan) and Alan Hale (Skipper). The show was about the trials and tribulations of seven people who got stranded on an uncharted island for many years. "Gilligan's Island" later had a made for TV movie which depicted the castaways having to survive a major hurricane which swept them out to sea. Later, the Coast Guard would find them and take them to shore. But, as luck would have it, they tried another trip and ended up on the same island. Gilligan knew it was the same island because he found a piece of the old Minnow.
8. Which TV sitcom had the line, "Fish don't fry in the kitchen; beans don't burn on the grill"?

Answer: "The Jeffersons"

This theme song became famous for this show's 10-year running. Again, Sherman Hemsley played the outspoken George Jefferson, who is a businessman. Jefferson lived in a high rise apartment building in an upscale part of the city. After all, he could afford that.
9. "You wanna go where people know their troubles are all the same" is from what famous TV show?

Answer: Cheers

"Cheers" ran for several long seasons and had a big finale in the early 90's. The bar does exist in Boston, MA. The show starred Kirstie Alley and Ted Dansen.
10. From what theme song do you hear "...and then one day he was shootin' at some food and up from the ground come a bubblin' crude"?

Answer: "Beverly Hillbillies"

Bluegrass artists Lester Flatt and Earl Scrugs sang and played the original version of the theme to the "Beverly Hillbillies." The show starred Buddy Ebsen (Jed Clampett), Irene Ryan (Granny Daisy Moses), Donna Douglas (Elly May Clampett), and Max Baer (Jethro Bodine).
