Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This second "Amazing Race Australia" began in what city?

Answer: Sydney

As eleven teams started the race, they opened their first clues in the Royal Botanic Gardens of Sydney, Australia. From here, they had to run on foot to nearby boats, jet across the bay and past the Sydney Opera House to their first task at Barangaroo Wharf.

Here, both team members needed to hop into Honda CR-Z cars and navigate them forwards and backwards through a complex puzzle of vehicles to free themselves and receive the clue to their first international destination.
2. Teams' first international destination was which of these world capitals?

Answer: Manila

Heading to the airport in Sydney, teams needed to catch a flight to Manila, Philippines. Upon their arrival that evening, teams had to locate a marked stand in the market district known as Quiapo (which would be found in Plaza Miranda). There, both members had to split a serving of eight balut-- boiled, unfertilized duck embryos-- in order to get a clue sending them to the nearby bus station in Quezon City. Each charter bus heading ten hours south would leave a half hour apart.
3. Which was the only team to complete the 'Jig' Detour option in Leg 1?

Answer: Sue and Teresa

Leaving Manila, teams took a bus to the province of Albay, finding a clue with a snake charmer in the Cagsawa Ruins in Daraga. Here, teams began their first Detour task, a choice between 'Jig' and 'Pig'. In 'Jig', teams had to spend time learning a local Ibalong Festival dance in costume.

When they perfected the moves, they could continue on. Only Sue and Teresa finished this task. All of the other teams completed 'Pig' in which they had to be covered in oil and catch four pigs in a muddy pen.

The other ten teams did this one.
4. In Leg 1, teams had to take which mode of transportation to the Pit Stop?

Answer: Self-made raft

After the Detour teams took taxis to the seaside town of Bacacay where, arriving at Luyang Beach in front of the Misibis Bay Resort and Casino, the groups were told to head to their next Pit Stop. To do so, however, they had to create their own raft out of materials provided to them.

The raft had to support both members of the team and survive the trip along the coast. If it broke down, they had to go back to shore and rebuild or, at the worst, start over from scratch.
5. What race mechanic was used to save Lucy and Emilia from elimination in the first leg of the race?

Answer: Salvage Pass

Teams, riding their rafts, eventually paddled their way to the first Pit Stop of the race, a pier overlooking Mosboron Beach in Bacacay, Philippines. Here, Ross and Tarryn passed the other front-running teams on their way to the Pit Stop and ended up arriving in first they ended up winning $10,000 and an additional bonus: The Salvage Pass.

This pass could be used in one of two ways. First, they could use it to gain a one hour head start during Leg 2. Alternately, they could use it to save the last place team from elimination in the first leg. Lucy and Emilia ended up arriving in last place and, luckily for them, Russ and Tarryn elected to save them from going home.
6. In Leg 2, teams flew to what Indian city?

Answer: Delhi

Heading out from their first Pit Stop twelve hours after arrival, teams were told to fly themselves from Manila, Philippines to Delhi, the capital city of India (which was done via Bangkok, Thailand). Upon their arrival, teams had to make their way to Agrasen ki Baoli, a step well in the city, where they needed to search through several turbans being worn by Indian men. If they did not find one with the word 'Correct' written inside the fabric, they would have to rebuild the turban and try another.
7. How many teams finished the 'Poo' Detour task in India in Leg 2?

Answer: Three

After their turban task, teams headed to Jabbar and Laallu's Dairy in Bhalswa, a small section of Delhi's northern end. There, teams found their Detour tasks, a choice between 'Pull' and 'Poo'. 'Poo' was as one would expect. In this task, teams needed to get their hands dirty to mold cow dung into patties, sticking them onto a wall to dry. Once they made fifty patties for fuel, they could receive their next clue. Lucy and Emilia, Sam and Sticky, and Paul and Steve were the only ones to take this task on.
8. In the 'Pull' Detour task in India in Leg 2, what did teams need to milk?

Answer: Cows

In 'Pull', teams needed to take turns milking a cow at Jabbar and Laallu's Dairy in Bhalswa. Once both team members filled half a liter bucket each they would be able to trade the milk for their next clue. Ross and Tarryn, Shane and Andrew, Sue and Teresa, Kym and Donna, Adam and Dane, James and Sarah, Joseph and Grace, and Michelle and Jo completed this task before continuing onward.
9. During Leg 2, teams had to memorize the moves to what typical Indian dance style?

Answer: Bollywood

After the Detour, teams took tuk-tuks to their next task at the Old Fort in Delhi. Once there, teams need to dress in dance outfits go through hair and make-up, and memorize a Bollywood dance routine on camera. Then, they had to properly read a Hindi dialogue about moving to Australia (complete with a bit of weeping), also on film, to the satisfaction of the director to receive their next clue.
10. Which team was eliminated from the race in India in Leg 2?

Answer: Adam and Dane

After their Bollywood experience, the eleven teams needed to race to the second Pit Stop of the course, the Qutub Minar. It was Sticky and Sam who forged ahead during the dance, ending up on the mat in first place and winning a trip for two to Japan to see the MotoGP.

Although Lucy and Emilia were last to show up to the mat (again), Adam and Dane incurred a thirty minute penalty for breaking race rules and selling off their valuables for tuk-tuk fare. As such, they were the first team eliminated from the race.
