Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In St. John's, Newfoundland (in Leg 9), teams had to visit the statue of what famous Canadian figure?

Answer: Terry Fox

Continuing on directly from the Pit Stop in Leg 8 (in front of the Bluenose II), teams had to head to the ferry in North Sydney, Nova Scotia and catch a ride from Port aux Basques to the province's capital, St. John's. Once there, teams needed to reach Mile Zero of the Trans-Canada Highway where they could find a statue of Terry Fox. From there, teams needed to memorize a quote by the famous Canadian and bring it along with them to their next destination.
2. At the Quidi Vidi Brewing Company in Leg 9, teams had to kiss which of these?

Answer: A cod

Heading onward to St. John's Quidi Vidi Brewing Company, the teams had to recite the Terry Fox quote they memorized to enter the building and join a kitchen party. During this they had to kiss a cod (yes, a fish) and drink a shot (each) of Newfoundland rum called Screech.

When this was done they could hop back into their taxis and make their way to Shea Heights Overlook to find their Detour clue waiting.
3. In the 'Wag a Tail' Detour option in Leg 9, teams worked with which of the following animals?

Answer: Dogs

Finding their Detour task, teams had the option of 'Tell a Tale' and 'Wag a Tail'. In the former, teams headed to the dock at Petty Harbour Fisherman's Co-op where they had to listen to a Newfoundland tall tale and recite it, word-for-word, to a group of locals. Once they did so perfectly they could continue on. Jet and Dave and Vanessa and Celina completed this task.

In 'Wag a Tail', the teams had to head to St. John's and deliver eggs and milk using a Newfoundland dog, dragging a wagon up a steep hill. Tim Sr. and Tim Jr. and Jody and Cory completed the task, delivering to four houses in the city.
4. All participants in the Road Block task in Leg 9 (in Newfoundland) were required, by their clue, to complete the challenge.

Answer: True

After the Detour, teams raced to O′Brien's Music Store in St. John's for a Road Block task. For this one, one member of each team (required by the clue, as they needed an even amount of Road Blocks going into the final leg of the race) needed to take an instrument, tool, or item, and head into the city streets to perform for money; they needed to sing, dance, talk-- anything-- to earn $50 and get their next clue. Jody, Tim Sr., Dave, and Celina all finished this task through different means.
5. Which team was eliminated in Newfoundland in Leg 9?

Answer: Jet and Dave

After the Road Block the teams needed to take taxis onward to the final Pit Stop of the race at the country's easternmost point, Cape Spear, where they could find the Pit Stop waiting under Canada's oldest standing lighthouse. Jody and Cory narrowly outran Vanessa and Celina to win their third consecutive leg of the race.

This time they won a year's-worth of Air Canada Altitude Super Elite 100K status, enhancing their flight classes, especially on those they'd already won. In the end, front-runners Jet and Dave struggled to keep up to the other teams and, after a poor Road Block showing, they were eliminated in fourth place.
6. In the final leg of the race, the final three flew to Toronto. For the first Road Block of the leg, team members had to rappel down which of these skyscrapers?

Answer: The L Tower

In Leg 10, teams departed from the race's final Pit Stop on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean and needed to fly to the final destination city, Toronto, Ontario. En route, the three teams were given upgraded tickets to first class on an Air Canada flight, because the race was going to get rough. Upon landing, teams needed to find a woman in a maple leaf hat outside Pearson Airport who would direct them to the under-construction L Tower in Downtown Toronto.

There, they found the first Road Block of the leg in which Tim Jr., Jody and Vanessa had to perform a face-first rappel down the side of the forty-four storey building.
7. In Leg 10, teams had to search through hundreds of what chocolate bar to receive their next clue?

Answer: Caramilk

After the Road Block, teams were told to head to the factory responsible for making the Caramilk Chocolate Bar, Cadbury's Gladstone Chocolate Factory. Once there they had to head to the Caramilk production line and search through dozens of boxes (of hundreds of bars) for one of three golden bars. Once they found one they could head to the President's office to receive a safe key, then open the office's safe for their next clue.
8. In what area of the Toronto Zoo did teams locate a clue box during the race's final leg?

Answer: Panda exhibit

After finding their Caramilk chocolates, the teams needed to take a taxi across the city to the Metro Toronto Zoo and search the grounds for their next clue box-- it could've been anywhere in the park. While some teams took longer than others (by an hour), it could be found in the limited edition panda exhibit, right outside the enclosure.

After this, teams needed to return to Downtown Toronto in rush hour traffic.
9. During the final task of the race, teams needed to match flags and which of these to their respective provinces?

Answer: Flowers

After visiting the Zoo, the teams were told to make their way to Evergreen Brickworks in the Don Valley, right outside Toronto's downtown core. Here, they found the second Road Block task, their final challenge in the competition, where Celina, Cory, and Tim Sr. had to face a large map of Canada and match the provincial flags (shown at the start of each leg on their clues) and provincial flowers (shown on each Pit Stop greeter throughout the race) with the ones they visited on the course.

When this was done they could receive their final clue.
10. Which team won the first season of "The Amazing Race: Canada"?

Answer: Tim Sr. and Tim Jr.

After the last Road Block, the teams were told to make their way to Lake Ontario and catch a ferry taking them to Olympic Island to run to the Finish Line. In the end, Tim Sr. was able to complete the final Road Block quickest (from memory) despite arriving last, and he and his son were able to catch the earliest ferry to the islands to cross the Finish Line in first place, becoming the first father-son team of any "Amazing Race" to win the prize.

They were followed by Jody and Cory in second and Vanessa and Celina in third.

The Tims took with them the $250,000 grand prize, two Corvette Stingrays, and a year of free airfare from Air Canada.
