Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Was a Detour found during Leg 1 of the race in Kelowna, B.C.?

Answer: No

During the first leg of the race, teams ended up flying from Toronto, Ontario (having started the race in Niagara Falls) all the way to Kelowna, B.C. via Vancouver. While they located two different Road Blocks in this very first leg of the Canadian "Amazing Race" there was, as has been custom in many of the American seasons of the show, no Detour until the second leg.
2. During Leg 2 in British Columbia, both detour options took place in which location?

Answer: Vancouver's Chinatown

In Leg 2, teams traveled from Kelowna, B.C. to the province's largest city, Vancouver, where eventually teams located their first Detour task of the race in front of the Millennium Gate in Chinatown. Here, teams chose either 'Dance It' or 'Draw It'. In 'Dance It', teams had to locate four pieces of a dragon outfit in different stores in Chinatown, then bring them to the Chinese Cultural center to perform a dance. Only Kristen and Darren and Jamie and Pierre finished this task.

In 'Draw It', teams had to go to a tea house and memorize one Chinese symbol (each a symbol on the Chinese zodiac) each, then race to the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden to properly transcribe it. All of the other teams finished this one.
3. In Leg 3, only one team completed the 'Bone By Bone' Detour task in Alberta. Which one?

Answer: Holly and Brett

In Leg 3, teams traveled to Calgary and Drumheller, Alberta where, inevitably, teams located their Detour task in the famous geological hoodoos of Alberta's badlands. There, teams chose either 'Bone By Bone' or 'Lump By Lump'. In the former task, completed by only Holly and Brett, teams had to construct a dinosaur skeleton in a museum laboratory based on the larger model on the museum show floor.

In 'Lump By Lump', teams instead hauled coal into a mine cart, opting to complete a physical challenge.
4. In the Yukon in Leg 4, teams completing the 'Yukon Supply Run' task had to build which of these?

Answer: Raft

In Carcross, Yukon, teams found a Detour task near "The Duchess", a train. There, they had to choose one of two tasks-- 'Yukon Supply Run' or 'Klondike Gold Rush'. In 'Klondike Gold Rush', completed by Jet and Dave, Hal and Joanne, Tim Jr. and Tim Sr., and Jody and Cory, teams participated in three different local games/activities performed by local Yukon citizens.

In 'Yukon Supply Run', completed by Brett and Holly and Kristen and Darren, teams built a raft out of supplies to reach a clue int he middle of a river. Vanessa and Celina did not complete the Detour, instead using their Express Pass to skip the task.
5. In Leg 5, teams completed Detour tasks involving which popular Saskatchewan sport?

Answer: Football

During the race's fifth leg, teams flew to Regina, Saskatchewan for a series of tasks culminating in a difficult Detour on the home field of the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Mosaic Stadium. Here, teams chose either 'Brawn', involving a series of football drills, or 'Beauty', involving a choreographed cheerleading routine involving lifts. Jet and Dave, Hal and Joanne, Tim Jr. and Tim Sr., and Jody and Cory completed 'Brawn' while Holly and Brett and Vanessa and Celina completed 'Beauty'...just in time to visit a Double U-Turn.
6. Visiting Quebec in Leg 6, some teams chose the 'Sculpt It' Detour option, requiring that they make a sculpture of which of these?

Answer: Ice

Heading to Quebec City, teams found their Detour task in front of the Château Frontenac sending them into Old Quebec to either 'Sculpt It' or 'Spot It'. In 'Sculpt It', completed by Jet and Dave, Vanessa and Celina, and Tim Sr. and Tim Jr., teams had to carve an ice sculpture in front of the Notre-Dame-des-Victoires Church.

In 'Spot It', Brett and Holly and Jody and Cory, using a mural for reference, needed to place French words on a canvas to indicate the locations of missing items.
7. Visiting Nunavut in Leg 7, all participating teams completed the 'Igloo Builder' Detour option.

Answer: False

The opposite is true, actually. Heading to Nunavut and finding the Detour task waiting overtop the tundra of Sylvia Grinnell Territorial Park, teams were told to choose between 'Igloo Builder', a task in which they had to construct a functioning igloo with pre-cut ice, or 'Harpoon Hunter', in which they had to trudge through the snow pulling their teammate along in a sled, then use harpoons to hit a target and head back the way they came. All five teams inevitably ended up completing 'Harpoon Hunter'.
8. Which Detour task found in Nova Scotia in Leg 8 involved lobsters?

Answer: 'Surf'

Flying to Nova Scotia in Leg 8, teams needed to drive themselves to Lunenburg on the island's west coast and complete a Detour task comprised of either 'Surf' or 'Turf'. In both, the teams dealt with food. In 'Surf', teams collected six lobster traps from the waters outside the harbour, banded the claws, and returned them to a restaurant.

In 'Turf', teams had to taste and memorize the names of twelve local sausages, reciting them in a second location. Tim Sr. and Tim Jr. and Vanessa and Celina finished 'Turf'; Jody and Cory and Jet and Dave did 'Surf'.
9. In Leg 9's 'Wag a Tail' Detour option, teams used dogs to deliver which of these in Newfoundland?

Answer: Milk bottles

In St. John's, Newfoundland, teams faced off against one final Detour task (there was no Detour in the final leg of the race). For this one they either had to 'Tell a Tale' or 'Wag a Tail'. In the former task, teams had to memorize a Newfie fishing story and recite it to locals word-for-word to get their clue. Jet and Dave and Vanessa and Celina told the tale.

In the latter task, teams leashed up a Newfoundland dog to deliver eggs and milk to four different locals on Holloway Street. Tim Jr. and Tim Sr. and Jody and Cory did this one.
10. How many Double U-Turns were used by racers during this season?

Answer: One

Two Double U-Turns were found during the course of the race-- once in Regina, Saskatchewan in Leg 5 and once in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia in Leg 8. Anyone selected by another team ahead of them had to complete the Detour task they didn't originally perform in order to return and claim their clue.

The only one to be used was in Regina; Tim Jr. and Tim Sr. used the U-Turn to force Hal and Joanne to complete both options and then they subsequently used it to turn around Brett and Holly. Hal and Joanne were subsequently eliminated.
