In the first week, the eighteen new candidates were split into a team of men and a team of women and Trump asked one member of each to swap teams to become a project manager. Bradford joined the women's team (Apex) to lead on the task; they made a remote-controlled car with interchangeable parts called the Metamorpher and won because Mattel felt it would fit into their Tyco RC toy line.

They won a dinner with Trump and his girlfriend, Melania, in their luxurious apartment and Bradford won an exemption from the next boardroom, win or lose. Pamela joined the men with Mosaic and they created the losing toys, customizable action figures known as Crustacean Nation. Taking Rob and Andy to the board room, Trump fired Rob for a lack of assertiveness.
2. For their second task, teams needed to create new ice cream flavors and sell them in the city. Mosaic won with which flavour?

In their second week the two teams were tasked with creating a new ice cream flavor with Ciao Bella gelato and marketing the product to sell it for one day. Mosaic created an ice cream with doughnuts and won the task by selling it in Times Square with the promise of donating some proceeds to charity. Kelly won an exemption as a result. Apex lost the task with their red velvet flavour ice cream, selling less than the other team. Ivana, the project manager, was accused of having a total lack of control and she brought Stacie J. and Jennifer C. back to the boardroom. None of them were fired-- Bradford ended up impulsively giving up his exemption and Trump saw this as a horrible move which could have major implications if exercised in a high-pressure business situation.

He was fired.

Apex and Mosaic met with representatives of Proctor and Gamble to promote Crest's Vanilla Mint flavour however they decided to. To accomplish this, they could spend $50,000 to their liking and whichever team had a more successful launch (in the company's eyes) would win the task.

Although the women of Apex had a celebrity endorsement for their promotion and Mosaic went $5,000 overbudget, it was Apex who lost. During the boardroom, the entire team was called back after being sent to the suite to discuss Stacie J.'s personality.

After concerns regarding her state of mind, Trump fired her with the entire team present.
4. Teams worked with QVC in their fifth task. While Apex chose a cleaning sponge to sell on live TV, Mosiac sold which of these?

Teams organized in Pennsylvania to work with the QVC home shopping channel in their fifth task. Apex, led by Pamela after a team switch, and Mosaic, led by Chris, needed to select a product, write a fifteen-minute presentation for TV, and fight to get the highest gross sales with their stock. Apex chose a cleaning sponge called 'It Works!', selling for $27 per pack of thirty while Mosaic sold sandwich makers for a cost of $71.25, winning by a margin of only ten dollars.

In the boardroom, Pamela was fired for poor choices and leadership, particularly in judging the capabilities of her team.

For this task, the teams encountered Donny Deutsch (who worked as the ad executive in charge of the Marquis Jet Card in season one) and were told that they would create two print ads and a video ad for NYPD recruitment. Andy led his team to victory with an emotional ad while Elizabeth and Apex headed to the boardroom with a fear-driven recruitment ad.

In the boardroom her team criticized her indecisiveness and problems as a leader. Rather than allow her to bring two people back to the boardroom with her, Trump fired her immediately, without question.
6. The ninth task of the season brought teams into the world of real estate. Apex lost because they gained a lesser increase in appraisal value. The team's major failing involved which of the following?

In task nine, the teams each received a house in need of renovations and $20,000. Their goal was to up the appraisal value to get more money for the work put into the property. Mosaic, with Sandy as the project manager, won the task with a nearly 11% increase in value because their contractors finish all of the delegated work. Apex, with Raj as leader, failed to meet expectations with a value increase of 7%.

This is mostly due to a lack of cleanliness, especially on their new carpet, a completely unfinished bathroom, and the removal of a bedroom wall, reducing the amount of rooms in the house. Raj was fired for these choices and his lack of control over the contractor.
7. In week eleven, teams worked for Levi's Jeans. How many people were fired after Mosaic lost the task?

Apex and Mosaic were both tasked with creating a catalog for Levi Strauss and Co., exhibiting the different fits and sizes of jeans in their line. Apex created a clever 'fit wheel' and pocket-shaped catalog explaining everything concisely and they walked away with a win. Mosaic returned to the boardroom as four members but left as two. Maria was eliminated from the running for her task-compromising choices and unwillingness to comply with her project manager's decisions. Wes, the project manager, was also fired mainly due to his lack of control over Maria and his decision to allow her choices to go through.

This was the first time in the show that two people were eliminated after a non-interview task.
8. For their final major task on week thirteen, the two teams created candy bars with which confectionery product inside?

Answer: M&Ms

For the teams' final task as separate teams, they needed to head to Mars, Inc. to create M-Azing Bars in the factory proper. Whatever they could get through quality control would be able to be sold the following day, and whatever they could generate as a profit would be used to help them win the task.

Despite Apex's greater amount of bars, they sold at too low a price and lost to Mosaic (now comprised of Jennifer and Sandy) who sold theirs for approximately $5 per bar. Ivana was fired for several bad business decisions including dropping her skirt to sell a bar for $20 on Wall Street.
9. The final four were interviewed by a series of major executives to secure their places in the final two. Which of these was not one of the executives?

The three executives were also joined by the CFO of Unilever to help Mr. Trump determine who would be the greatest candidates to become the apprentice proper. After a day of tough questions, the four faced Trump in the boardroom to face off against each other. Kevin was the first to go, mainly because of the executives' lack of confidence and his uncertainty in life, demonstrated by an endless series of degrees at leading schools. Sandy was second to be fired because of the executives' feeling that she couldn't translate her skills into the corporate world.

Answer: Kelly

For their final tasks, Kelly and Jennifer needed to host different charity events. Kelly (with a team of Elizabeth, John, and Raj) headed to Connecticut to host the Genworth-Trump Polo Cup which included a short concert by Tony Bennett. Jennifer used her skills to organize a charity basketball event at Riverside State Park, also for Genworth Financial.

In their final boardroom, Jennifer was criticized for her poor track record on teams. Despite a single win as project manager with no losses, her team track record was a meager 5-8. Executives also felt her performance was lacking on the final task. Kelly won the season because of his strong presence, useful skills on the job, amazing track record, and leadership.

His reward: a project working for Mr. Trump in New York City with a $250,000 contract for one year.
