Susan didn't have good cellular reception at Ian's majestic cabin so she remained in the dark about Mike's condition until her daughter was finally able to reach her several days later.

While Susan has been frequently referred to as a "children's book illustrator," she apparently wrote "Ants In My Picnic Basket" at the start of her career. The title of her book was displayed in the episode where her book agent, Lonny Moon, was introduced, and it was also shown in the show's third season at Edie's son's birthday party.
