Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I'm Commander Tucker, Chief Engineer of Enterprise. The Captain hand-picked me to take care of the ship after I "helped" him with the Warp-2 tests. Most people call me Trip. My mother calls me _________.

Answer: Charles

Commander Charles Tucker III got the nickname "Trip" from the word "triple" (He is the third Charles Tucker). I wonder if this means that his father, Charles Tucker Jr., was nicknamed "Dupe." ;)
Washington State native Connor Trinneer was relatively new to television and film acting when he landed the role of "Trip" Tucker. He had previously been seen on the HBO movie "61*" and the soap opera "One Life to Live".
2. Hi! I'm Ensign Sato. I'm the Communications Officer on Enterprise. I'm a really talented linguist, which is why Captain Archer sought me out. Do you know what my first name is?

Answer: Hoshi

Communications officer Hoshi Sato evokes another legendary "Star Trek" character: Lt. Nyota Uhura. Both are communications specialists, and both of their first names translate to the word "star" (from Japanese and Swahili, respectively).
Korean native Linda Park's break occurred in "Jurassic Park III" (2001). Her first television appearance came in an episode of "Popular" the same year.
3. Welcome to Starfleet! I'm Admiral Forrest, the commanding officer. I've known Captain Archer since he was a boy. If it weren't for his father, I'm not sure we would've progressed as well as we have. If you can guess my first name correctly, I will give you a tour of the NX-02.

Answer: Maxwell

Admiral Maxwell Forrest faught long and hard against the Vulcan advisors to let Archer take the Enterprise into deep space. It took a stranded Klingon named Klaang to have the Vulcans reluctantly agree to let humans begin exploring the galaxy ("Broken Bow").
Veteran actor Vaughn Armstrong has made several appearances in "Star Trek" over the years. In all he appeared nine times in "Star Trek" between 1988 and May 2001. In the fall of 2001, he stepped into the role of Admiral Forrest for "Enterprise", and he has played at least two alien roles on the show.
4. Hey there! I'm Crewman Rostov. I work in Engineering. It's a thrill to serve on Enterprise, but I once had a pretty hairy experience in Cargo Bay Two when this web-like thing almost swallowed me up! Speaking of "swallow," why don't you join me for lunch in the Mess Hall? Oh, I'm sorry...Where are my manners? The name's __________.

Answer: Michael

The web-like creature that Crewman Michael Rostov (Joseph Will) spoke of was a creature that had found its way to Enterprise after the initial encounter with the Kreetassans. Before long, other members of the crew, including Captain Archer, were captured by this ever-expanding creature. Thanks to Ensign Sato's language skill, and some assistance from the Kreetassans, the crew managed to free Archer, Rostov, and the others, and then take the creature to its home ("Vox Sola"). Joseph Will cut his "Star Trek" teeth by appearing in two episodes of "Voyager" ("Muse" and "Workforce, Part 2").

He has also appeared in the movie "Dragonfly" (2002).
5. Hi there. I'm Ensign Mayweather, helmsman on Enterprise. I come from a family of boomers, but I'm thrilled to be in Starfleet. My brother wasn't too happy about my career choice, though. But just remember that if you need to get somewhere, ________ will find the way.

Answer: Travis

What is a "boomer," you ask? A boomer is someone who serves on a cargo ship or was born on a ship. Whenever he feels a little homesick, Travis Mayweather (Anthony Montgomery) would retreat to the "sweet spot" of Enterprise, where the gravity is lighter than normal.
Anthony Montgomery is multi-talented, appearing in movies and on TV, as well as on stage. He has also dabbled into the world of stand-up comedy, starting in his hometown of Indianapolis, and later performing for charity events in Los Angeles (from www.anthonymontgomery.com).
6. I'm Crewman Cutler, exobiolgist on the Enterprise. Dr. Phlox has been training me to become a medic, probably because I know the bugs he uses almost as well as he does! Why don't you join us for Movie Night? They're playing an Abbott & Costello film. Tell them _________ sent you!

Answer: Elizabeth

Crewman Elizabeth Cutler (Kellie Waymire) specialized in entomology, which made her suitable to becoming Dr. Phlox's medic. She also initially wanted to pursue a relationship with Phlox, but later backed off once she realized he had three wives!
Kellie Waymire also had appeared in the "Voyager" episode "Muse", as well as episodes of "The X-Files", "Six Feet Under", and "NYPD Blue". Sadly, she died in November 2003, of a heart condition.
7. I am the commanding officer of Enterprise, Captain Archer. But I won't mind if you call me ____________.

Answer: Jonathan

Captain Jonathan Archer (Scott Bakula) has a personal tie to the ship he commands. His father, Henry, was one of the designers of the Warp-5 testing facility that allowed the eventual construction of Enterprise to take place.
"Star Trek: Enterprise" is not Scott Bakula's first foray into science fiction. In the early 1990s, he and Dean Stockwell starred in the hit NBC series "Quantum Leap".
8. I'm Lieutenant Reed, ship's tactical officer. I'm the first member of my family to not pursue a career in the Royal Navy for many generations. I do enjoy my work on Enterprise, though. And I'm sorry, but even if we are on a first-name basis, I cannot allow you to tour the ship's armory.

Answer: Malcolm

Lt. Malcolm Reed (Dominic Keating) is somewhat enigmatic, as even members of his own family don't know much about him. What we do know is that he had an uncle with severe hydrophobia who was an engineer on a submarine, and that this particular uncle stayed at his post to keep the systems running while the rest of the crew evacuated to safety as the boat filled with water. Born in Leicester, England, Dominic Keating started his on-screen acting career doing guest roles on "Inspector Morse", "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", and "The Immortal"; he has also appered in the Tim Allen movie "Jungle2Jungle" (1997). And in 2002, he pulled double-duty on TV, as Owen in the Showtime series "ChromiumBlue.com".
9. The name's Novakovich. I'm a botanist on Enterprise. Early on in our mission, I went down to this planet to check out the scenery, but there was something in the air that nearly drove me crazy! It'll be a while before I leave the ship again! By the way, the first name's _________. I think it would be easier for you to remember that.

Answer: Ethan

The planet that Crewman Ethan Novakovich (Henri Lubatti) spoke of was an idyllic world. Several members of the away team (including Novakovich) spent the night there, some for scientific study, others for the fun of camping out. Unfortunately, a windstorm hit the encampment, leaving everyone there in a hallucinogenic and paranoic frenzy ("Strange New World").
Henri Lubatti has made several guest-starring turns in various TV shows, including "24", "Felicity", and "The X-Files".
10. Hi, I'm Corporal Cole, a member of the MACO assault team that joined Enterprise into the Delphic Expanse. Like Commander Tucker, I'm also from Florida. Hey, if you need a little target practice, just come to the range and ask for __________.

Answer: Amanda

Corporal Amanda Cole (Noa Tishby) is one of the star members of the MACO (Military Assault Command Operation) team on board Enterprise, holding the team record for most hits in the moving target exercise program designed by Major Hayes ("Harbinger").
It seems appropriate for Israel native Noa Tishby that her character is an excellent sharpshooter. Among Noa's many talents is weapons training. She is also an actress, singer, songwriter, athlete, and painter (from www.noatishby.com).
