In the fourth season premiere, Jack needed Lenny's help yet again to bring an end to a debilitating page strike led by Kenneth, who was upset after he discovered that Jack was paid a significant bonus at a time when the pages had lost their overtime pay. Lenny's plan was to infiltrate the union as an employee so that he could take down Kenneth from the inside. "And you have undercover experience?" inquired Jack. "They used to call me the chameleon," Lenny confided conspiratorially, before adding, "Because of my slender frame and my big wet eyes."

Steve Buscemi is a highly respected director of film and television shows, but is best known for his memorable supporting roles in such films as "Miller's Crossing", "Reservoir Dogs", "Armageddon" and "Fargo", and the HBO drama "The Sopranos".

Tracy had just heard about the rule that celebrities always died in groups of three, and with two already dead that day, he was worried that he would be the next celebrity to kick the bucket. "I gotta go somewhere where nothing will happen to me," he appealed to Jack. "Can you get me on 'Charlie Rose'?" Jack was quick to dismiss Tracy's fears. "Tracy, you have nothing to worry about. The rule of three is a myth - it doesn't exist, like going bald with dignity."

Tracy wasn't taking any chances, so he called up Betty White on the phone and tried to scare her to death. She saw right through his intentions. "Nice try, Jordan," said the aging comedienne, "but I'm going to be at YOUR funeral. I will bury YOU." Later, when Jimmy Fallon wandered into Tracy's dressing room looking for directions, Tracy found his next target. "You look clean. You a celebrity?" he asked Fallon. "I have my own show on NBC," was the slightly smug reply. "No, ce-le-bri-ty," Tracy said. "I was in a movie with Queen Latifah once," replied a deflated Fallon. "Perfect. I'll show you a shortcut," offered Tracy, before trying to kill Fallon with a hammer.

The rule of three claimed its third and final victim at the end of the episode - Jack had traveled to Stone Mountain to scout for a new actor to join "TGS", but he ended up "killing" the local talent - a ventriloquist's dummy named Pumpkin.

Jenna knew from working with him previously that Jayden was evil, so she tried to get Liz to confirm this fact by checking with anyone who ever worked with him. "I did," Liz said. "I called every one of his references and they are impressive. A commercial with Martin Scorsese. An off-Broadway play with Christopher Walken. He's even studying the Meisner Technique with Sir Gilbert Gottfried." Jayden's ruse was exposed during his audition, which consisted of a skit that revolved around a dinner party at Martin Scorsese's house with Christopher Walken and Gilbert Gottfried as guests.

Martin Scorsese is the Oscar-winning director of the films "Raging Bull", "Taxi Driver" and "Goodfellas". Christopher Walken is a veteran actor of the stage and screen, and is remembered for performances in films like "The Deer Hunter", "True Romance" and "Catch Me If You Can". Gilbert Gottfried is a stand-up comedian and actor who provided the voice of Iago, Jafar's parrot sidekick, in Disney's "Aladdin". Although they were not actually seen in this episode, all three personalities lent their distinctive voices to "Audition Day".

In "Secret Santa", Jack reconnected with his high school crush, Nancy, after the company acquired an up-and-coming social networking website called Youface. All of the GE executives were asked to set up their Youface page, and Jack was "finger-tagged" by Nancy after she found his online profile. Nancy was going to be in New York City that week to pick up her sons from school, and she spent the day with Jack reminiscing over old times. Nancy was scheduled to leave for Boston the next day but her train got cancelled, which she took as a sign that she should take up Jack's offer to meet him for a drink. It turned out that Liz had called in a bomb scare to Penn Station so that Jack would have a little more time to spend with Nancy - the gesture was her zero-dollar Christmas present to Jack. When Nancy and her husband split up later in the season, Jack began a relationship with her, even though he had started seeing someone else in the meantime.

Julianne Moore (the star of the films "The End of the Affair", "The Hours" and "Far From Heaven") portrayed Nancy Donovan with a heavy Boston accent, and drew criticism from viewers who felt that her accent was exaggerated and unrealistic. Moore's accent was defended by the show's producers, and the show even poked fun at the whole issue in the season finale. In the scene where Nancy first met Avery Jessup, her rival for Jack's affections, it was revealed that Avery used to speak with a heavy Maryland accent. Nancy's reaction to Avery's old accent was a classic example of the kind of meta-humor that the show is famous for. "Ugh," she declared. "That accent's idiotic."

Jenna had met James Franco's manager over the holidays, and was asked to enter into an "arranged Hollywood relationship" with the "Spider-Man" and "Pineapple Express" star, in order to dispel "certain unsavory rumors". Jenna was all for it, but Liz needed a little more convincing. "What exactly is Mr. Franco covering up here?" she asked. James Franco himself provided the explanation. "Liz, are you familiar with Japanese 'moe' relationships where socially dysfunctional men develop deep, emotional attachments to body pillows with women painted on them?"

Jenna eventually broke up with James after she realized that she was envious of James' relationship with Kimiko-tan, and wanted something real herself. Even James came to recognize the foolishness of their charade. "What am I doing, Jenna?" he said. "Pretending to be something I'm not. Making myself miserable when I've got happiness waiting for me at home." The episode ended with James taking Kimiko-tan out to a nightclub, where they met Liz, and the three of them ended up spending the night in Liz's apartment.

Jenna's mother, Verna, only came to New York to jump-start her own reality show, but she needed to get back on good terms with her daughter in order to secure her involvement and capitalize on her fame. Verna paid back some money that Jenna had loaned her, and threw her a surprise birthday party at a fancy restaurant. Verna even asked Jenna to join her in an impromptu duet in front of all of the party guests, to make up for missing a mother-daughter duet at a talent pageant when Jenna was younger. The duo sang the Captain & Tennille classic, "Do That To Me One More Time", complete with inappropriate lyrics like, "Do that to me one more time, once is never enough, with a daughter like you..." When Liz asked Jack, "How are you not moved by this?" Jack replied, "Because I'm listening to the words."

Jan Hooks is an actress and comedienne best known for her turn as a main cast member of "Saturday Night Live" from 1986 to 1991, and her recurring role as Vicki Dubcek, the daughter of the Solomons' landlady, in the television sitcom "3rd Rock from the Sun".

Jack explained his system for first dates to Liz earlier that day. "At an appointed time, Jonathan calls me and tells me that I have a conference call with the Geneva office. If I don't like the woman, I have an excuse to leave. If I do like her, I loudly tell Jonathan that I'm doing something more important. The woman is suitably impressed, and I'm guaranteed to see some underwear - perhaps a bra with a front clasp." Unfortunately, Avery wasn't as dim-witted as Jack's other first dates, and she saw right through the move. "You're kidding right? I mean, that's your move? It's 3.30 in the morning in Geneva, Jack. Who's your call with?" she pointed out, matter-of-factly, before telling Jack that she didn't have time to waste on amateurs. Jack realized that he had seriously underestimated Avery, so he arranged for Jon Bon Jovi, NBC's current artist-in-residence, to interrupt his next conversation with Avery.

"Hey, Jack. Who's this lovely..." Jon started to say when he spotted Jack and Avery standing together in the "TGS" VIP Room. "Excuse me, Bon Jovi, I'm in the middle of a conversation here," Jack replied, bluntly dismissing the rock star. "Wow," said an appreciative Avery, "that was a LOT better then your conference call move."

Answer: Wesley Snipes

Wesley was portrayed by the acclaimed Welsh actor Michael Sheen, who appeared in the films "The Queen", "Frost/Nixon" and "Music Within". Liz and Wesley went out on several dates in an attempt to recapture the spark they obviously felt in the dentist's office, but discovered that they couldn't stand each other when they weren't under the influence of mind-altering drugs. When their paths nevertheless kept crossing, Wesley concluded that fate was trying to tell them to settle for one another. He believed that he and Liz were each other's "settling soul-mates", and that they should get married. "Are you ready to settle and become Mrs. Snipes?" he asked, after Liz rejected his first marriage proposal. "No," Liz replied. "I wanted to tell you to your face that I know that I can do better than you, and I'm never going to be Mrs. Snipes. Hang on, is your name Wesley Snipes? That is insane!"

An incensed Wesley responded with the following truism about the action star's name. "It's insane that the actor Wesley Snipes has that name. If you saw a picture of him and a picture of me, and you were asked, 'Who should be named Wesley Snipes?', you'd pick the pale Englishman every time. Every time, Liz!"

Answer: Buzz Aldrin

Liz was inconsolable when she found out that her mother could have been married to Buzz Aldrin, but turned down his proposal because she didn't want to move with him to Houston. "You should regret that, mom," she said. "You should have followed him. Laura Linney could have played you in the HBO original movie 'Moon Wives'!" Liz's mom told her that she never regretted settling for Liz's dad, even though he wasn't her true love. Liz was trying to decide if she should settle for Wesley, so she was determined to find out how her mother's life would have turned out if she hadn't settled for her father. As it turned out, Buzz Aldrin was in town, so Jack arranged for Liz to meet him.

Buzz was polite and charming, when he wasn't interrupting his conversation with Liz with frequent bouts of shouting at the moon. "I see you. I see what you're doing," he yelled in the direction of the moon. "Return to the night. You've no business here." Liz quickly discovered that the image in her mind of her mother's perfect man turned out to be less than ideal in reality. "Look, you want to know what your mother missed?" Buzz confided. "Years of drinking, depression, cheating. I flipped over a Saab in the San Fernando Valley. I once woke up in the Air & Space Museum with a revolver in the waistband of my jean shorts."

Answer: A pilot

Liz had to go to Wesley's office to pick up his "fancy dress shoes" for Cerie's wedding. While there, she had an encounter with Carol (Matt Damon), who had an appointment with Wesley to go over his workmen's compensation claim. Liz took one look at Carol standing in the doorway in his uniform, and said, "Are you a doorman?" Carol's reply was, "Yeah, I'm a doorman... to the sky. I'm a pilot."

The pair hit it off after Carol mentioned that "TGS" was "the greatest thing ever on television", and Liz revealed that she was the head writer for the show. Liz believed that she was fated to meet Carol, and invited him to be her date to Cerie's wedding (even though she was already attending with Wesley, her fiancé). She broke things off with Wesley at the wedding in an impassioned speech about how she was convinced that Carol was the person she had been waiting to meet, without realizing that Carol was listening to every word she was saying. "How much of that did you hear?" Liz asked, when she realized that Carol was standing behind her the whole time. "Well, you were engaged," Carol replied. "Apparently you hate Buzz Aldrin. Foot problem. And you and I are going to spend the rest of our lives together." A slightly freaked-out Carol left at that point, but returned later to track down Liz at Grizz's wedding to tell her that he was willing to give her a second chance. When Liz asked Carol how he managed to crash the wedding, he replied, "You walk briskly in a pilot's uniform, you can go pretty much anywhere. I've been upstairs in the White House while the Obamas were sleeping."
