The mystery man tells Kevin to watch his feet, which are on fire. Kevin wakes up to find his neighbor has accidentally set their shared fence on fire.

Jill trips over Nora's purse in a cafe, and when she goes to put it back she sees Nora is carrying a gun. When Nora leaves the cafe, Jill and Aimee decide to follow her.

At the end of episode 1 we saw Liv's character, Meg, seek shelter at the Guilty Remnant (GR) compound. In this episode, we learn that there is a trial period before someone can join the GR. One of the things Meg must do is surrender a personal item to the GR every day she is there. Until she becomes a full member, Meg is still allowed to speak, does not have to wear white, and does not have to smoke.

Being a full member of the GR, Laurie doesn't speak, and doesn't bother to write Meg a note explaining why she must chop down a tree. Meg thinks it's a symbolic way of severing her past. After hacking at the tree a bit, Meg gives up in frustration.

When Kevin breaks the news to Meg's fiancé, Kevin expects him to head to the compound and convince Meg to come home. Instead, her fiancé is furious. He's postponed their wedding for three years and then Meg sneaks off in the night to join the GR. He has no intention of going after her.

It's still unclear whether the mystery man is a real person, a figment of Kevin's imagination, or something else altogether. Kevin's state of mind is already in question, by both himself and others. The truck turns up in Kevin's driveway and a search on its VIN turns up no registration and no warrants.

We see in episode 1 that Tom has a crush on Christine, and Wayne warns him off her. He tells Tom not to touch Christine, that she's important. During the raid of Wayne's compound, Tom winds up shooting an agent to protect Christine, and whisks her to safety. They meet up with Wayne later, who again reinforces the importance of Christine. We are left to wonder what her purpose might be.

Based on what we've seen so far, Kevin's fears are valid. He has a complete blackout in episode one, he's the only one to have seen the mystery man, and his father is in a mental institution and Kevin could fear it's hereditary. One of the questions Kevin asks his father is, "How'd it start for you, Dad?"

Until now, we'd only seen a glimpse of Kevin's father during a flashback. In this episode we not only learn that Kevin followed in his father's footsteps by becoming police chief, but that his father is in a relationship with the Mayor.

During Kevin's visit, his father starts arguing with an imaginary (?) someone/something. He then tells Kevin that 'they've' sent someone to help Kevin, and that Kevin should probably keep it to himself. Perhaps the mystery man?
