Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who has been, at different times, Landlady, Barmaid and Acting Manager of the Queen Vic, as well as having been barred from drinking there, over the years?

Answer: Pat

Pat is the only person who has done each of these jobs at one time or another, and has been barred from entering the pub by Peggy as well. Her husband from the time of her ownership of the pub, Frank, was also Landlord when married to Peggy.
2. Who is the barmaid who has outlasted every Landlord of the Vic?

Answer: Tracey

Tracey is the longest-lasting 'extra' in EastEnders; occasionally the extras get a storyline (such as market revolts) but Tracey is the only one who has continued come-what-may, outlasting the Watts, Butchers, Eddie and the Mitchells as the years have gone on.
3. When Peggy and Frank decided to sell the Vic there were a number of locals interested in buying it. Which of the following was NOT in the running with an offer?

Answer: Mark Fowler

Their plans were scuppered when Grant gave his half share to Phil, who sold it to Dan for £5. This was to put a strain on the resources of the pub as Dan was not a popular person in the area after being the means of destroying the Jackson family.
4. When schoolgirl Michelle got pregnant, Albert Square residents were ignorant of the identity of the father for some years (even though it made headline news in the daily papers!), being Den Watts. But where exactly in the Queen Vic did the deed take place?

Answer: in the bar

After having Vicky by Den Watts (Sharon's father) Michelle went on to have a second child, Mark, by Grant Mitchell (Sharon's husband), conceived in the same place!
5. Den's former boss, Wilmot-Brown, left the brewery and set up in opposition across the road. What was this place called?

Answer: the Dagmar

Den was to set up the Wine Bar after finally breaking away from Angie, and E20 was the name of the Night Club run by Steve Owen some years later. Sharon was to change the Club's name to Angie's Den, but Wilmot-Brown ran the Dagmar. It was here that he raped Kathy Beale, and it was this pub that Den burnt down in response.
6. What was the name of the Landlord who was murdered in the Square?

Answer: Eddie Royle

Eddie was murdered by Nick Cotton in the Square; he had been locked in his room by his mother to go 'cold turkey' and this served as an alibi until Dot realised that he was able to escape.

In 2005 Den Watts was murdered in the pub itself.
7. Who was determined to win every Pub Quiz with his team?

Answer: Ian Beale

Cindy was having an affair with David Wicks at the time, and was exasperated by her husband's determination to beat a rival team. They eventually found out (through Cindy and David going out together) that the other team was getting the answers at another pub quiz night a few days prior to the Queen Vic Quiz Night.
8. What was Peggy Mitchell's best known line?

Answer: 'Get out of my pub'

As far as I know, the other three options have never been said by Peggy in the course of the programme, but she has certainly repeated the line 'Get out of my pub' many times, and is well-known as Peggy's line in impersonation sketches.
9. Who set fire to the Queen Vic, unknowing that Sharon was upstairs?

Answer: Grant Mitchell

The pub was torched to get the insurance money; Grant should have known better. It didn't help Phil and Frank when they burnt down the car lot just a few months before.
10. What was the name the British press gave to the episode in which Grant walked into the packed bar and played a tape of Sharon talking to Michelle, telling her about the affair she had been having with his brother Phil?

Answer: sharongate

There have been many storylines from EastEnders which reached the front pages of the newspapers in this country, and this one was named for the American 'Watergate', a scandal named for a hotel in Washington in the early 1970s.
