Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What type of olives does Kramer purchase at the Price Club?

Answer: Lindsay

Kramer buys a 4lb can of black Lindsay olives. The Lindsay Olives brand is owned by Bell-Carter Foods, Inc., the largest table olive producer in the U.S. and the second largest in the world. Roland, Goya and Provence are also real brands.
2. Although Jerry questions the practicability of buying ten pounds of cocktail meatballs, Kramer feels it was a good deal. How much does he pay for it?

Answer: $17.50

According to Kramer: "$17.50. You can't beat that." In "Behind The Scenes", writer Carol Leifer reveals that the idea of using the Price Club (known for its sale of bulk products at discount prices) as a gag came long before writing for this episode had begun.

Her original storyline was for George to buy Susan's engagement ring at the Price Club. To all the Georges and Kramers who don't already know, note that after merging with its rival, Price Club stores have since been rebranded as Costco!
3. Having never "baited a hook with a rye before", unsurprisingly Jerry finds the task difficult particularly since the hook is too small for the large rye bread. What does he jokingly say the hook is better suited to baiting?

Answer: A muffin

George Costanza may be described as the most neurotic, deceptive, selfish, dishonest, impulsive and insecure of the main characters. However, the willingness of his friends to assist with his elaborate schemes casts great doubt upon their own levelheadedness.

Here are some similar situations from other episodes: In "The Phone Message", Jerry switches the answering machine tape of George's girlfriend. Elaine helps him "slip a mickey" into his boss' drink in "The Revenge" and even takes an IQ test in his place in "The Cafe".

In "The Slicer", Kramer pretends to be a doctor in order to take a photo of George's boss. In Seinland, bread is common bait!
4. What is the name of the club at which Elaine's boyfriend performs?

Answer: Bradley's

At the start of the scene in which Elaine explains to her boyfriend that she never actually said they were 'hot and heavy', an external shot of the club is shown.
5. When George compliments Susan's mother on the meal, Mr. Ross makes it clear that she did not make it. Who did?

Answer: Rowena

Of course, they are having Cornish game hen (not a little chicken). Although perhaps not as quibbling and rackety as George's parents, Susan's parents don't seem to let pass each other's flaws either.
6. While carrying groceries, Kramer falls in the hall to his apartment, causing everything to tumble unto the floor. What are two of the items he drops?

Answer: Pop cans and boxes of cereal

In typical Kramer fashion, he falls, dropping two boxes of canned drinks and two boxes of cereal - Raisin Bran and Special K. Jerry isn't the only one who likes cereal...
7. Jerry was willing to pay the old lady $50 for the rye but she refused the offer despite the potential profit. How much did the rye actually cost?

Answer: $6.00

Jerry: "All right. Look, I'll tell ya what, I'll give you $50. Now, be reasonable - you cannot turn down $50 for a $6 rye." The idea of the old lady, Mabel Choate, buying the last marble rye and Jerry subsequently stealing it, was not originally scripted.

However, according to Jerry Seinfeld in "Behind The Scenes", Larry David insisted that there had to be another obstacle in the storyline - at the bakery - in order to really deliver the comic punch they were hoping for. Of course Larry was right!
8. Which of the following adjectives does Elaine NOT specifically agree upon to describe John Germaine?

Answer: Interesting

While she may agree that he is interesting, Elaine does not use this word to describe John Germaine. In the opening scene the audience can hear her thinking that he is "so cool" and she later tells Jerry that he is "terrific". When Jerry asks whether he is spongeworthy, she responds, "Oh, yeah."
9. Before taking Susan's parents for a hansom cab ride, Kramer feeds Rusty Beef-A-Reeno. He instructs the horse to "eat up" since he still has so much left. How many more cans does Kramer have?

Answer: 34

Kramer had purchase 50 cans total of Beef-A-Reeno. 16 cans of the stuff consumed so quickly? Oh dear...
10. As Jerry tries to throw the rye up to George, it passes the window of the couple living below. What are the two people doing at the time?

Answer: Reading

Despite being no more than four seconds long, the screen clip of the bread flying past the window and the couple's quizzical expressions (well, the entire 'rye' storyline really) encapsulates the surrealist mania of this show and the extent to which the characters (especially George) would go to fulfill their juvenile devices.
