The only time we see Amelia alive is in the episode "Pilot". Charles uses his magic to kill her in a fire, and so Cassie would have no choice but to move to Chance Harbor. There, she finds out she is a witch, they bind their circle, and use their magic just as Dawn uses her magic.

Ethan is Adam's father. Isaac and Eben work together to try to kill off the circle so what happened 16 years ago won't happen again. Jake is still in contact with the witch hunters, but he is more focused on protecting Cassie than killing the rest of the circle. 16 years ago, Ethan hired Eben to kill John Blackwell because he blames him for stealing Amelia from him. So Ethan (with his power then) uses a "sway" to give Eben the magic he needed to kill John.

However, Eben uses this power to kill almost everyone else in the circle. Ethan never wanted to get this far, and regrets what happened to the rest of the circle.

After the demon leaves Melissa and goes into Nick, Jane, Cassie's grandmother, uses her family crystal to make the demon reveal itself. After Nick runs into the Boathouse Bar, he sees Dawn there. He is looking for her because she is the one who created the demon. So when Dawn thinks that it is a game, he says that Nick isn't there. And, that it is Abaddon, so Dawn starts to take it seriously.

After Cassie chases the ghost that she has been seeng into the church it died in, other ghosts start to show up and surround her. Soon, Adam and Jake come in and try to save her, but Adam goes towards the ghost with a pocket knife and then they surround him.

There are six witches surrounding him and a few seconds later, they possess him. They are asking for Cassie's father's medallion, which holds their power. Jake tries to convince her not to give it to them because the medallion holds all of the dead witches' power. And, if she gives the medallion to "Adam", those six witches would have the power of thousands and they would be unstoppable.

After Faye decides to play with her magic and set Cassie's car of fire, Adam saves her and takes her home, still not knowing that she is apart of a circle of witches. As they pull up to her house, she says "Maybe it was ready to go kaput; I mean I did just drive it a thousand miles." Adam, trying to change the subject, quickly says "yeah I'm sure that was it."

In the episode "Medallion", Faye gets a packet of white powder called "Devil's Spirit". The only reason Faye uses it is because Callum tells her that it would channel her inner power. Knowing Faye, she will do anything to get her individual power back, so she takes some, and gets high.

The worse part is when she introduces it to Melissa. This leads to Melissa introducing it to Diana in "Valentine". After using the whole packet herself, Melissa breaks down and has a seizure. They then vow never to use "Devil's Spirit" again.

After Melissa, Faye and Diana order a pizza and use a spell to make the delivery guy cute, Diana says that when he gets here, she's going to kiss him (which was the result of Callum's drug Devil's Spirit.) A few moments later, he doorbell rings and Diana kisses Lee, who isn't the pizza guy. Lee is looking for Faye, so he can help her get her individual power back.

After leaving the Fire and Ice dance early (due to Faye setting the place on fire with Lee's voodoo help) Cassie is seen in the basement of the abandoned house trying to compare the symbol on the ceiling to the one in her "Book of Shadows". The symbol is there because her father lived in the house, so he carved it on the ceiling, which is a symbol of darkness.

As she does this, Adam interrupts her, saying that there had to be a safer way to control her dark magic.

Before getting their individual power taken away (from binding the circle) Faye and Melissa use magic to play ring toss and get every single toss while looking at each other. As they agree that it is a tie, Nick interrupts them and takes them to another game.

After they leave, Henry -Faye's grandfather- is shown watching them use magic in public, which he confronts to Dawn. After he threatens to tell the elders, she uses her family crystal to give him a heart attack.

In "Masked", the circle is captured by witch hunters. Five jars held about 2 ounces of one's blood. The witch hunter would light a match and set the blood on fire, killing that witch. When the witch hunter chooses Diana's first, Cassie screams "No!" and the glass shatters. Furious now, the witch hunter picks up Cassie's jar and tries to set it on fire, but she screams again and the witch hunter catches fire. Adam, who is rubbing the rope that holds him on a sharp screw, escapes, frees the rest of the circle, and leaves.

In "Balcoin", we find out that Cassie's bloodline is a part of a line of witches with dark magic.

John Blackwell changed his last name because his bloodline comes from a group of witches with dark magic. If the elders knew his real last name, they would try to capture him and kill him.
