Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. We start with "Itchy, Scratchy & Marge". In this episode Marge protests against the violence in the cartoon, "Itchy and Scratchy". What is the name of her organization that boycotts the famous cartoon?

Answer: SNUH

Marge protests against the violence in "Itchy and Scratchy" after her daughter Maggie copies the violence in the cartoon and hits Homer in the head with a hammer. When her protest goes unheeded, she organizes a boycott, which forces the cartoon makers to get rid of the violence in the cartoon.

The initials of her organization, SNUH, stand for 'Springfieldans for NonViolence, Understanding and Helping.' This may be the best episode ever.
2. In "Lisa's Substitute", what is the name of the substitute teacher that fills in for Miss Hoover?

Answer: Mr. Bergstrom

Mr. Bergstrom teaches Lisa that 'life is worth living.' Maybe the best episode ever.
3. In "Lisa's Sax", what does Homer sacrifice to buy Lisa her saxophone?

Answer: A new air conditioner

The story revolves around Bart's adjustment to school and the Simpson's discovery that Lisa is a gifted child.
4. In "Lisa the Iconoclast", Lisa discovers that the town founder Jebediah Springfield was really a pirate named Hans Sprungfeld. Which U S. President helps convince Lisa to fight for the truth?

Answer: George Washington

George Washington visits Lisa in a dream and encourages her to fight for the truth. She finally discovers the truth about the pirate Hans Sprunfeld from a piece of canvas torn off a painting of George Washington.
5. In "Who Shot Mr. Burns Part I", which of the following persons is not a main suspect in the case?

Answer: Marge

Groundskeeper Willie is a suspect because Mr. Burns cost him his job at Springfield Elementary. Mr. Burns also caused Moe's bar to close, robbing Barney of his bar. And Burns robbed Springfield Elementary of Tito Puente. Other persons who had a motive to shoot Mr. Burns included Moe, Principal Skinner, Grampa, Homer, Bart and Lisa. Marge however, is not a prime suspect, nor does she have any overwhelming motive. Also, she is in plain sight when Mr. Burns is shot.
6. In "Lisa's Wedding", the story takes place in the year 2010. Homer still works at the same job at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, even though the plant is operated mostly by robots. Who is Homer's supervisor?

Answer: Milhouse

In the futuristic episode, Lisa meets and falls in love with a young Englishman named Hugh St. JohnAlastair Parkfield. Hugh meets Lisa'a family and he seems able to deal with it, but he tells Lisa that after the wedding they will return to England where they will never have to deal with Homer again.

The episode also features some changes for other characters. Mayor Quimby is now a taxi driver working for the former bus driver, Otto. And Mr. Burns is in suspended animation while doctors search for a cure for 17 stab wounds. And Bart's little nerdish friend, Milhouse, is now Homer's immediate supervisor.
7. In the episode "HOMR" how many crayons did Homer, when he was six years old, stick up his nose?

Answer: 16

When Homer was six he stuffed 16 crayons up his nose. One became lodged in his brain and was responsible for his substandard mental abilities. When the crayon was removed his IQ increased by 50 points.
8. In "Homer Defined", what is the name of the project that resulted in Homer being hired at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant?

Answer: Bootstrap

In "Homer Defined", a meltdown begins at the Nuclear Power Plant. Panic sets in, especially when Mr. Burns learns that the safety inspector is Homer Simpson, who was hired under 'Project Bootstrap' (Thank you President Ford). However Homer saves the day and is able to avert the meltdown by lucking out and pushing the right buttons on the control panel.
9. In "Last Exit to Springfield", Homer becomes the spokesman for the striking Union. Mr. Burns tries to break the spirit of the strikers, but he despite his best efforts, including turning off the power, he is unable to break the strike. In fact, through the darkness, he hears them singing. In Mr. Burn's song of lament, which of the following items does Mr. Burns NOT mention that the strikers are singing without?

Answer: Phalanges

Mr. Burns lament was a spoof of "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas". Mr. Burns laments, "Look at them all through the darkness I'm bringing/They're not sad at all, they're actually singing/ They sing without juicers/ They sing without blenders/ They sing without flungers, capdabblers and smendlers"!
10. In "Lemon of Troy", Milhouse is ambushed by a blue-haired kid named ____?

Answer: Milhouse

I don't why this episode is one of my favorites, but it always makes me laugh. The show revolves around the rivalry between Springfield and Shelbyville (which was founded by Manhatten Shelyville). Well I hope you enjoyed the quiz and because it was about my ten favorite episodes, I was unable to include other great episodes such as "Deep Space Homer", "Mother Simpson", "Homer's Enemy" (The Frank Grimes Episode), "Bart Sells His Soul", and "There's No Disgrace Like Home".
