In the beginning of this episode, George is with Jerry and his recent girlfriend, Sheila, in his apartment while they try to pick where to see a movie. The two of them commonly refer to each other by the pet name 'Schmoopie' and George is disgusted by it.

When Elaine arrives, they decide to get something to eat at a local soup restaurant where the chef is commonly referred to as the 'soup nazi'.

As the trio makes their way to the soup nazi's restaurant, Elaine notices a man on the sidewalk selling an antique armoire and she asks how much it is. Although he was selling it for $250, the man gives Elaine what Jerry calls the 'nice face discount' and offers it for $200.

She stays behind while Jerry and George carry on to the soup nazi's, discussing the proper procedure to order on the way.

When George and Jerry arrive, they order their soup and George realizes that he didn't get any bread in his bag. When he asks for some, Jerry tells him to let it go and the soup nazi tries to charge him three dollars for bread. He ends up losing the soup when the cashier takes the bag from him and the soup nazi shouts 'No soup for you!'. Jerry ends up going home with his soup, though, and he eats it in front of George.

Unfortunately, Elaine is unable to bring her new armoire up to the apartment because of an odd rule in her building. This forces her to watch the armoire overnight; a task she asks Kramer to partake. When she asks Kramer if anything can be done for him, he asks her to get a bowl of Mulligatawny from the soup nazi.

When she arrives at the restaurant, George is attempting to get soup for the second time, but Elaine walks in and makes herself at home. This angers the soup nazi.

After Elaine bangs on his counter and comments on her disgust for Lima beans, the soup nazi bans her from his restaurant. She realizes how bad this may be when she tastes George's bowl of crab bisque and she has to sit down. Meanwhile, the armoire is stolen by a pair of thugs who decide that it looks too nice to pass up, and Elaine returns to the apartment to find it missing.

When Jerry and Sheila go to the restaurant, they end up kissing as they're about to approach the counter and the soup nazi is shocked. He decides not to give them soup and while Sheila leaves, she is surprised to find that Jerry would rather have soup over her. Elaine feels he made the right choice, as the soup was just that good.

When George says that the whole 'schmoopie' thing was getting annoying, Jerry decides to get back together to spite him.

Kramer later returns to the restaurant and he chats with the soup nazi. The chef calls Kramer the only individual that understands his position because he knows that he shouldn't expect no less than what he gets from his customers. Newman also stops by the shop and orders a Jambalaya.

After Kramer tells the armoire story to the soup nazi, the chef offers his own old armoire to replace the stolen one.

Jerry takes Sheila to Monk's coffee shop to apologize and say that the ordeal was a joke and they get back together. At this point, Susan and George come in and George decides to be utterly disgusting and over-lovable with Susan in order to prove his point to Jerry. This results in both couples kissing uncontrollably on each side of the table.

Kramer takes the armoire from the soup nazi's apartment and Elaine is thrilled with the new piece of furniture. In fact, she returns to the restaurant to thank him for the antique, but he comments that he never would have given it up had he known who was getting it. When Jerry drops by her apartment, he looks into a drawer and finds the recipes.

In the end, George is shocked to discover that Susan enjoyed how he talked to her in front of Jerry and Kramer and Jerry run into the thugs that stole the armoire. Elaine decides to take the recipes back to the soup nazi and she tells him that there will be no soup left for him because she's using them as blackmail.

In the end, Jerry is told the news of the restaurant's closing by Newman, who runs home to get a get a giant pot. Jerry also runs to get some soup.
