Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Dani, at one point, was engaged to be married.

Answer: True

Dani knew her husband, Edmund, since childhood. It was his glasses who she carried with her. Eventually, the two wed at some point in the 1980s. During their rehearsal dinner, Edmund claimed in a speech that he first proposed to her back at 10-years-of-age, shortly after they shared their first kiss.

It seemed apparent even then that she wasn't completely in the right mind for it. On that night, Edmund's mother asked to borrow her for a moment and, bringing her upstairs to a bedroom, she offered her own wedding dress, an item she hoped to pass down to a daughter she never had.
2. Where on the grounds of Bly Manor were Flora and Miles' parents buried?

Answer: They weren't

In Bly Manor, Dani tried on the only black dress she brought with her, finding it a bit unsuitable for a funeral for Owen's mother. Fortunately, as Jamie reminded her, she didn't need to commit to attending, especially since she recently had a funeral to attend in her old life.

As Jamie moved in to help Dani unzip the back of her dress, Dani spotted the figure haunting her in the reflection once again. While the others headed off to the town of Bly, Dani headed out to the chapel to find Flora playing in the graveyard.

The two discussed the funerals, particularly those of Flora's parents who, since they died so far away, were never buried there.
3. Who was the only other person from Bly Manor to attend Owen's mother's funeral?

Answer: Jamie

Flora raced into the chapel, where Dani was headed anyways, and that's where they found Ms. Grose, who also stayed back instead of attending the funeral. She claimed that she hadn't been back to the village since she was married, and she knew Owen would be fine that she didn't attend as she paid her respects in her own ways. Funerals, after all, are for the living. Ms. Grose took Flora into the house to start dinner while Dani gathered the girl's things.
Jamie returned to the house in time for dinner prep and to talk about the funeral. In this time Dani, while washing at the sink, felt the grip of hands at her sides and saw the reflection of the lit-eyed spectre in the polished side of a pot. When she excused herself, she walked towards the foyer and was shocked to find Peter Quint staring through the windows, walking his way towards the front door. It's because of this that she grabbed the firepoker and rushed to the foyer to greet him, but when she opened the door it was actually Owen.

Dani had her new dress taken in shortly before the wedding. While she seemed ambivalent towards the event, she seemed to feel anything but for the woman making the alterations.
4. What was Owen's favourite dish?

Answer: Shepherd's pie

The children and staff of Bly Manor sat down for dinner-- shepherd's pie, Owen's favourite coincidentally-- and made a bit of light conversation around the recent events, notably Dani's unorthodox welcome at the door, but Flora's chatter turned the conversation a bit.

She told Owen that he wasn't dying, and it caused a bit of a pause. She explained that when her parents died, she should she would too-- she was sure of it-- but then she thought 'what if she was already dead and nobody knew'. It was dreadful, but it only felt like dying because she was still alive and sad.

But then she learned that 'dead' didn't mean 'gone'. The dinner goes sour for both of the children when Miles demands a glass of wine, not watered down, like the adults at the table, and his outburst gets them sent to bed.
5. When looking through Flora's dollhouse, where did Dani find Peter Quint's doll?

Answer: In Miles' room

Dani watched on as Flora brushed her teeth to get ready for bed, and while surveying the bedroom, she found her dollhouse seeming to creak open of its own accord. She peeked inside to find several dolls in their places among which was one representing Peter. Flora found here there, looking at the doll, and politely asked her not to mess with the contents of the house; she had a very particular setup.

When Dani asked if she or Miles had seen Peter around since he left, Flora stated that they never let Peter into the house since that wasn't how it worked. Checking in with Miles, Dani asked what his display was all about.

She was frank with him, letting him know she didn't grow up with parents either; they needed to be tough and she understood when he tried to be more grown up.

The best part was that he had great grown-ups in his life already to have as his family.
6. How was Edmund killed?

Answer: He was hit by a truck

After tucking the children in, Dani headed downstairs to find Jaime waiting in the lobby with a jacket and the two of them headed out into the grounds for a bonfire and a few bottles of wine. In the crackling fire, it was easy to get lost. While Ms. Grose seemed distracted, Dani fell into a memory, recalling the lead-up to her wedding.

Her nerves were clearly getting to her, but Edmund reassured her she was doing well with the planning. She wanted it toned down though. Blaming the cost and work, initially, the conversation devolved a bit and led to her admitting that she didn't want to get married at all.

In the car, later that night, Dani admitted she loved Edmund but she didn't want to let anybody down. When Edmund, frustrated, exited the car, he was hit by a truck.
7. Who was the only person not to submit an offering to the bonfire?

Answer: Dani

Enjoying more bottles of wine, the four staffers of Bly Manor talked about those they lost. The Olde English used bonfires to pass along offerings, often bones, to burn away the shadows. Jaime asked if anyone had any old bones to throw in.
Ms. Grose started, telling a small story about Rebecca Jessel, who'd they'd lost nearly a year earlier. She mused as to why pretty women were always the ones punished.
Jaime was next, offering up Lord and Lady Wingrave-- Dominic and Charlotte-- who she claimed were good and old-fashioned people whose kids really missed them. But fortunately, they had Dani there to bring them back to themselves.
When asked to put up an offering, Dani didn't state a name.
Owen put forth his mother's memory. In the end, she suffered from severe dementia, a fact they glossed over at the funeral. They didn't say the bad stuff, but they glossed over the good stuff too. She was an anchor and she was a burden, but she meant so much to him.
8. Where did Dani first start seeing Edmund's ghost?

Answer: At the hospital

Dani went to the hospital with Edmund and reunited with his family. It was there, in the waiting room, that they received the news that he didn't survive the accident. Dani snuck away during this news, heading to the restroom. It was there, for the first time, that she saw Edmund's reflection in the mirror, his glasses reflecting the lights of the truck that hit him. Throughout the funeral, she saw Edmund's hand on her shoulder every time she glanced at her reflection. She hit her breaking point then, covering a mirror during the wake in a moment of hysterics.

Dani and Jamie slipped away from the bonfire soon after, heading to the greenhouse. It was there that Jamie asked what was wrong, and Dani admitted she'd been seeing things that weren't there for quite a while. She admitted that she had a fiance, but he died and she continued to see him. She'd never told anybody that until just then. As Jamie tried to console Dani, Dani kissed her. In that moment, it was the first time Dani saw the spirit, sitting behind Jamie, without a reflection.
9. The day Dani left America, she was visited by her mother.

Answer: False

Dani had been putting her wants and needs on hold for years. After the funeral, she receded for quite a while to the point where her ex-mother-in-law-to-be started checking in, delivering food, and wondering after her. She thought it might be silly, but she was given Edmund's glasses amongst the items held at the hospital and she couldn't bear to look at them or throw them away. Dani took them. That was also the day she had her bags packed. She took a cab to the airport and flew to London.

When Jaime and Dani returned to the fire, they caught Owen trying to ask Ms. Grose to join him in Paris. Jaime drove Owen home before the others turned in.
10. On the night of the bonfire, Flora and Miles tried to prevent Dani from seeing a ghost. What did Flora ask for to distract her long enough?

Answer: Milk

In the middle of the night, Flora awakened to find that her dolls had moved around a little bit. With Dani out of her bed, Flora looked over to see that Ms. Jessel's doll had moved back into the house. She and Miles raced through the manor to search for Dani and convince her to avoid doing anything that could get her in trouble, and when they located her, wandering with a bottle of wine and the eyeglasses in her hands, Flora invented a dream to prevent her from turning around and seeing the spectre stalking through the foyer.

While Dani went to fetch Flora a glass of milk, Miles closed the front door, stepping over the footprints created by the ghost. After tucking the children back in Dani headed back downstairs with her bottle of wine and, spying the footprints, decided to leave it until morning.

She headed out to the bonfire instead, tossing the eyeglasses into the still-burning flames. When she looked up, Edmund's ghost was still there, watching. No one but the two of them.
