Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The City of the Edge of Forever
Answer: New York City, 1930
The original idea for "City on the Edge of Forever" was drafted by legendary Science Fiction writer Harlan Ellison. Doctor McCoy travels to 1930, where he saves the life of a peace activist named Edith Keeler (Joan Collins). Spock determines that if Keeler lives, she will delay US entry into the Second World War and assure that the Nazis are victorious, thereby seriously disturbing the timeline that led to the United Federation of Planets. In order to restore the timeline, Kirk must stop McCoy and allow Keeler to die in a traffic accident. It was the penultimate episode of season one.
2. Assignment: Earth
Answer: New York City, 1968
"Assignment: Earth" was intended as a possible spinoff series starring Robert Lansing as a time traveler named Gary Seven and Teri Garr as his assistant Roberta Lincoln. Seven is attempting to change the timeline so that humanity will move away from space based nuclear weapons. He is successful in detonating a nuclear warhead in the upper atmosphere. Spock and Kirk later confirm that the historical records aboard the Enterprise verify that they were supposed to take part in the events of 1968.

Answer: San Francisco, 1893
When Data's head is discovered in an archeological dig dated 500 years in the past, the Enterprise crew travels into the past to determine the fate of their science officer. The ctrew uncovers a plot by alien shapeshifters to steal the life force of humans on 19th century Earth and manages to stop them. The episodes are among the most popular "Next Generation" produced.

Answer: Primordial Earth, 4 Billion BCE
"All Good Things..." is the series finale for "The Next Generation." The annoying omnipotent Q (John DeLancie) returns to test Picard by moving him around through time. The plot centers around an anomaly which moves backwards through time, eventually threatening the existence of all life on Earth. Picard solves the paradox around the anomaly, and Q restores the timeline back to normal. The episode won the Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation in 1995.
5. Past Tense

A transporter malfunction sends Sisko, Bashir, and Dax to San Francisco in 2024. Sisko and Bashir find themselves in a Sanctuary Zone, a government shelter that has devolved into a prison/ghetto. 7. Trials and Tribble-ations
Answer: Space Station K-7, 2268
"Trials and Tribble-ations" is a crossover episode between "Deep Space Nine" and "Original Series" and features footage from "The Trouble with Tribbles." The crew of Deep Space are sent by a temporal anomaly to 2268, where they stop an assassination attempt on James Kirk.
The episode was produced as a tribute to the 30th anniversary of the original show. There are numerous inside jokes including Bashir stating "I'm a doctor, not a historian."
8. Future's End
Answer: Los Angeles, 1996
A confrontation with a timeship from the 29th century results in Voyager being sent to the year 1996. The timeship crashes in 1967, where an enterprising young man named Henry Starling (Ed Begley Jr) uses the wreckage to launch the computer revolution. In 1996, he is one of the world's wealthiest technology entrepreneurs.
Starling's attempt to travel into the future will cause an explosion that will destroy the solar system. The crew is able to stop Starling with the assistance of a quirky astronomer named Rain Robinson (Sarah Silverman). "Future's End" was a two parter during the third season, and is widely regarded as one of the best episodes of the "Voyager" series.
9. Shockwave
Answer: Ravaged Earth, 31st Century
"Shockwave" is the cliffhanger two parter that ended the first season of "Enterprise." Jonathan Archer is transported to the 31st Century, where he is trapped in a timeline with no technology to get him back. Daniels, a temporal agent, notes that Archer vanishing significantly altered the timeline. Using technological hocus-pocus, Daniels is able to return Archer back to the 22nd Century, and the timeline is restored.
10. Storm Front
Answer: Brooklyn, NY, 1944
In "Storm Front" an alien known as Vosk travels into the past to alter events. When the Enterprise arrives in 1944, Nazi Germany controls much of the Eastern United States. The divergence happened when Lenin was assassinated in 1916, preventing the rise of the Soviet Union.
The Enterprise is able to destroy the alien base and restore the timeline. The two-parter, which opened the fourth season, is part of the "Enterprise" story arc around the temporal war between the Xindi and Humanity.
