Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which person did NOT discover the corpse in Andy Bellefleur's car in the premiere episode?

Answer: Bill

At the end of season one, the trio found a dead foot sticking out of Andy's car. His car was parked a little ways from the front of Merlotte's. When he opened the door, a black foot with painted toenails came out! The foot belonged to the fake exorcist Miss Jeanette.

In the book "Living Dead in Dallas", the foot belonged to Lafayette. Thankfully, the power of Alan Ball and the performance of Nelsan Ellis saved the life of a great character like Lafayette.
2. After having disappeared at the end of season one, where did we find Lafayette at the start of season two?

Answer: underneath Fangtasia

Yep, poor Lafayette was being held prisoner under Fangtasia. Which, was a little more fortunate that what happened in the books. He was later released upon Sookie's instance, but was deeply ill from an infected bullet wound. Eric came to Lafayette later to heal him and make a deal.

He needed Lafayette to sell V again, but we did not learn until the end of the season whose idea it actually was.
3. Jason Stackhouse found a purpose in season two, or so he thought. He joined a church and practiced celibacy. Who was able to remove Jason from his vow of celibacy?

Answer: Sarah Newlin

Sarah Newlin was the effervescent wife of Fellowship of the Sun leader Steve Newlin. Sarah simply radiated sexuality, and slowly seduced Jason. The special attention Jason received from the Newlins caused some problems with his new friend Luke. Luke had been celibate and seeking a role at the Light of Day Institute for years, and was jealous of Jason's immediate inclusion.

In "Living Dead in Dallas", Jason played only the smallest of parts. I believe this journey into the belly of the beast for him was a way for Alan Ball to keep Jason's role active in season two. I had no problem with the change at all, and enjoyed seeing a different side to Jason. What readers know and only viewers do not, is that Jason has a special quality (like Sookie) that made the Newlins more drawn to him.
4. When Sookie, Bill and Jessica arrived in Dallas, was there someone waiting to abduct Sookie?

Answer: Yes

Sookie got off the small private plane of Eric's in episode four, after drinking ten little bottles of liquor. She told the driver waiting for them that they were like "booze for dolls". Then she read his mind and realized he was there to kidnap her. Bill saved her, and then glamoured the man into revealing himself.

His name was Leon. Bill then taught Jessica how to use her powers to glamour. After they arrived at the hotel, Jessica used this power to play with Leon. It was a funny scene, but not repeatable here.
5. What was the name of Tara's new love interest?

Answer: Eggs

Eggs came to town with Maryann, and he and Tara quickly bonded. Of course, Maryann ensured the bonds with her powers of persuasion. Eggs was not only a recipient of her help, but a victim of Maryann's as well. He died at the end of the season. In the book, "Living Dead in Dallas", Eggs and Tara were a Caucasian couple mixed into some kinky lifestylin' that had nothing to do with the maenad.

The maenad (Callisto, not Maryann) had very little power in the book, was known by Eric, and left town alive and well after her tribute was paid. Tara lived through that tribute, Eggs did not. Mehcad Brooks played Eggs in season two.
6. Maker maker, vampire baker? OK, that was silly, but pick the choice that does NOT accurately depict the vampire and his/her maker.

Answer: Lorena made by Lafayette Reynolds

Despite his deathly status early in season two, his body being devoured in Fangtasia by vamps, and his subsequent feedings from Eric, Lafayette was not transformed into a vampire. Lorena was very old, age undetermined as of season two, and made Bill into a vampire during the period just after the American Civil War.

In the books, Eric's maker was not revealed until book nine, "Dead and Gone". Eric did come to Dallas in book two, but never revealed himself openly to anyone but Sookie and did not know Godric, who called himself Godfrey in the book. Godfrey was a pedophile who was ancient and wanted to meet the sun.

He did hand himself over to the Fellowship of the Sun, same as in the TV series, but in the show Godric was not a pedophile. I think the change to being Eric's maker was a good one, and the death wish being one of emotional fatigue was also a good choice. Allan Hyde played Godric in season two.
7. Where did Sam Merlotte find the body of his former lover and waitress Daphne?

Answer: in his walk in refrigerator

Daphne was a shapeshifter life Sam. She used Sam to hand over to Maryann, who in turn for her dedication murdered her. Actually, Maryann had Eggs kill Daphne while in a trance state. Then, Maryann took Daphne's heart and fed it to Tara and Eggs. Sam found her body, minus the heart, in his walk in fridge at Merlotte's. And, just as he did, the police showed up outside via an anonymous tip.
8. Sookie stood outside on a rooftop with Godric as he "met the sun".

Answer: True

A weeping Eric Northman begged Godric to reconsider, and did not want to leave his side. But, only Sookie had the power to stay with Godric as he disappeared in a ball of flames. She cried as he went to meet whatever lie next.
9. Jessica, the newest vamp in the Bon Temps nest, had trouble adjusting until she met this sweet young man.

Answer: Hoyt

Hoyt fell for her instantly, and did not mind one bit that she was a vampire. Though they helped each other sort through some parental issues, a physical problem came to light that ruined things for Jessica. The season ended with Jessica giving into some of her darker impulses to cope with her emotional pain. Deborah Ann Woll played Jessica in season two.

She should've been nominated for an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in my opinion.
10. In order to be happily rid of Maryann, Sam Merlotte shifted into a big white bull and then he killed her.

Answer: True

Queen Sophie-Anne explained that the maenad wished herself into existence. She offered that a human girl, possibly misused by her secretly homosexual husband, could have wandered into the woods looking for a heavenly salvation and wished her immortality into existence. Said girl would live for eons waiting for the arrival of her true husband, Dionysus or Satan if you will, to arrive and marry her. Sam posed as this creature and skewered Maryann with his bull horn. Believing her lover had kill her allowed her to truly die, which was her end game all along.

In the book, Callisto the maenad was looking for tribute, not death at the hands of Dionysus.
