DeWall comes to a bar where Ginger and Rust are waiting. It is revealed that Ginger is the one who called him. Rust explains the deal to DeWall Ledoux but he declines the offer and walks away. Marty tails DeWall and gives an update of his location to Rust.

They are lead by DeWall to a piece of land next to a stream of water. Once they arrive at the piece of land, Rust leads the way by tracking the suspect's path through the thick bushes and they reach a house and see DeWall there.

Marty and Rust sneak up into the house and search it for people. They find a man in the house and hold a gun to him. Marty goes and checks the shed. Rust, while keeping guard of Reggie, sees DeWall come out and so he calls for Marty. Marty then comes out looking very angry and shoots Reggie. DeWall runs off but Rust shots him with his gun from a distance.

This is what really happened but both Rust and Marty tell the officials that the men on that land opened fire on them and then a gun battle ensued.

This is the reason Marty came out of the shed angry and kills Reggie. Rust and Marty decide to make it look like a shoot out. Rust takes a gun and shoots at the air to make it look like there was a lot of gun fire. This is the story that they give the authorities and they are praised for their work which led to the discovery of the kids. Marty gets a promotion and Rust gets a commendation.

Maggie comes around to letting Marty in to her life again but not completely. He takes her and the kids to a skating rink and there he tells her that there was nobody else other than Lisa. He tells her that he was stupid and he would do anything to get her trust back.

He tells Rust that he knows who did the killing and that he is still out there killing people. Rust doesn't believe him but when the prisoner says 'Yellow King' Rust goes wild and beats the guy up.

The cops in the other room step in and separate Rust and Francis. They tell him that he made the confession invalid. Rust tells them that they were the ones who called him for a consultation.

Rust feels the need to investigate what Francis tells him about the Yellow King. He takes Marty and goes back to the prison only to find Francis' wrists slit with him dead on the floor. He appeared to have bled out from the cuts. They take the surveillance footage and see that Francis made one call before his death.

They traced the call to a public phone in the middle of lawyer. Francis had told everyone that the phone call was with his lawyer.

They tell Marty that Rust took the case where ever he wanted to. He took the leads as far as they went and they realized that this was suspicious. They also say that Rust may be associated with the death of Reverend Tuttle which happened a few years earlier.

The detectives also make sure that Rust understood their suspicion of him. They show him some photos and ask him if he recognizes anyone in them. They tell him that he was spotted at crime scenes for a long time. They ask him to show them what is in his storage. They tell him how they think that he took the murder cases where he wanted it and that is suspicious.

He goes to the Light of the Way Academy and finds the same type of sculptures that were in the land where Reggie Ledoux was and at the murder scene. He finds a lot of them the deeper he ventured inside the building. Rust then picks one of the figurines up and examines it with gloves on.
