"Voyager" Quiz for Enfranklopedia

Apparently, not everyone shares my love for this "Star Trek" series. Enfranklopedia actually prefers "Deep Space Nine!" This quiz focuses on the reasons why "Voyager" is the superior "Trek!"

Question 1 of 10
1. Every "Star Trek" series seems to have major trouble getting the holodecks to work, and "Voyager" has been no exception. One of the funniest episodes which featured a malfunction involved Captain Janeway being 'forced' to take part in Tom's program. Which holodeck program of Tom's was this? Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. The Doctor was a wonderful character who provided hours of entertainment for us. Sometimes that entertainment was unwelcome (think opera singing in the shuttle when you're trying to sleep), and sometimes the entertainment was because of a situation the Doctor found himself in. In one episode, he kept daydreaming because of some modification he had made. What was he trying to accomplish in his daydreams? Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. Chakotay provided some eye-candy for some of the women viewers of the series. He also seemed to be eye-candy for some of the female characters as well. Which of the following never seemed to be interested in our favourite Commander? Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. "The Next Generation" had Guinan. "Deep Space Nine" had Quark. And "Voyager" had Neelix. Although both Quark and Neelix added a comedy element to the show, Neelix was the only one who actually begged to be allowed to take on more responsibilities. What area of Voyager did Neelix usually ask to be allowed to help out in? Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. Picard got assimilated by the Borg unwillingly. Sisko's wife was killed by the Borg. Janeway actually went after them and kicked their collective butts (pun intended). Most of us remember Janeway was actually (willingly) assimilated by the Borg, but who else was with her at that time? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. Fans of "Star Trek" generally love their Vulcans. Tuvok proved no exception. Neelix tried (unsuccessfully) throughout the series to get Tuvok to show some sort of emotion, or at least 'loosen up' a little. What did Tuvok show/do as Neelix left as a way of saying goodbye? Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. Tom Paris was everyone's favourite 'fly boy' - especially B'Elanna's. He worked on cars, played pool, was demoted, promoted, drank, chased after women, made wisecracks, and wrote at least a couple of holoprograms. However, not everyone remembers that B'Elanna wasn't the only one to have had a child with our pilot (in the normal timeline). Who was this 'other woman'? Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. Picard fenced. Sisko played baseball. Janeway was seen playing pool and what other sport? Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. Every series had their 'baby'. "The Next Generation" had Wesley while "Deep Space Nine" had Jake. "Voyager" was no exception with the character of Harry Kim. Our favourite perpetual Ensign was pretty much a 'goody goody' character until he fell in love with a woman from a xenophobic race of wanderers. After he and the woman got close, both began to physically suffer from the consequences of their...closeness. What did Harry's girlfriend call their affliction? Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. Picard likes tea. Janeway liked coffee. Picard was assimilated by the Borg against his will. Janeway was assimilated intentionally. Picard's ship separated. What did Janeway's NOT do? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Every "Star Trek" series seems to have major trouble getting the holodecks to work, and "Voyager" has been no exception. One of the funniest episodes which featured a malfunction involved Captain Janeway being 'forced' to take part in Tom's program. Which holodeck program of Tom's was this?

Answer: Captain Proton

"Aliens from the fifth dimension" had invaded Voyager's holodeck, where Tom's program happened to have been left running. A pure fluff episode, Janeway had to go into the program playing Queen Arachnia (of the Spider People, of course) in order to foil Doctor Chaotica's fiendish behaviour which was killing the aliens.

There were some great lines in this episode, the most memorable of which is Tom yelling after Janeway "Remember, you're the queen!" My favourite line occurs after Janeway goes down the sequence of events leading up to Doctor Chaotica's army killing the aliens. Tom replied "Yes ma'am, his Army of Evil." Well, it is funnier if you actually watch the scene!

Answer: Allowed to add an Emergency Command Hologram 'identity' to his program

However, there were aliens 'spying' on the Doctor's daydreams and they thought what he was daydreaming was real! This led to the Doctor having to pretend to be in control of Voyager in order to fend off an attack.
As for getting a date with Seven, he really tried that in "Someone to Watch Over Me."
And the perfect holonovel? Well, his "Photons Be Free" ended up becoming infamous in the episode "Author, Author."
3. Chakotay provided some eye-candy for some of the women viewers of the series. He also seemed to be eye-candy for some of the female characters as well. Which of the following never seemed to be interested in our favourite Commander?

Answer: Kes

Kes always seemed to be interested in either Neelix or Tom Paris (although she wouldn't deny the latter). B'Elanna actually had a hallucination where she was 'with' Chakotay in her quarters. Seska thought she had impregnated herself with Chakotay's DNA, and this is even after he had broken it off with her (they had been in a relationship aboard his ship, the Liberty, back in the Alpha Quadrant). And although some of us like to forget, Seven and Chakotay had become pretty close in the final episodes of the series. Seven had even 'practiced' on the holodeck with a holographic Chakotay.

Answer: Security

Neelix was forever asking to be allowed to help out with Security, much to Tuvok's annoyance. I think that because nothing could be worse than his cooking, so why not let the furry guy try it once in a while?
5. Picard got assimilated by the Borg unwillingly. Sisko's wife was killed by the Borg. Janeway actually went after them and kicked their collective butts (pun intended). Most of us remember Janeway was actually (willingly) assimilated by the Borg, but who else was with her at that time?

Answer: B'Elanna and Tuvok

"Unimatrix Zero" Although they were each injected with something so they would not be integrated into the Collective, Tuvok's injection began to wear off and he had to recite facts about himself in order to try to keep himself from becoming absorbed into the Collective. Throughout the entire series, Janeway has sought out cubes for parts, liberated at least five people from the Collective, destroyed countless cubes and spheres, destroyed a Borg conduit and many other acts (suicide missions?) that Picard and Sisko never even dreamed of doing.

Answer: dance

In the first scene of the episode, the crew was celebrating "First Contact" day. Neelix decided it would be fun to play some of Zephram Cochrane's favourite music - and told Tuvok that he would get the Vulcan to dance before they reached home. As Neelix was leaving, Tuvok put out his foot and did a little bit of a dance move.

Answer: Janeway

In the episode "Threshold," Tom broke the warp 10 barrier - and took Janeway with him. They mutated into amphibians and by the Voyager caught up with them, there were little amphibians crawling near the two mutated Voyagers. It was determined that the Doctor couldn't 'un-mutate' the babies, so they were left behind on the planet.

After being returned to their original forms, Tom was a little... embarrassed with the Captain. But she tried to alleviate his feelings by saying that sometimes it's the female who initiates mating.
8. Picard fenced. Sisko played baseball. Janeway was seen playing pool and what other sport?

Answer: Velocity

And she kicked butt in both games. She hustled Paris at pool after Kim had invited her to Sandrine's, and then Seven 'pouted' because Janeway beat her as well.

Answer: The Shared Heart

They were told not to see each other again, but you know a couple in love - Harry defied orders and kept on seeing her. Had they continued to get closer, they could have died... luckily for Harry, he just suffered from flu-like symptoms, and refused medical treatment.
10. Picard likes tea. Janeway liked coffee. Picard was assimilated by the Borg against his will. Janeway was assimilated intentionally. Picard's ship separated. What did Janeway's NOT do?

Answer: go into a 'world' of entirely water

The Delta Flyer is what went into the water-world ("Thirty Days"). Voyager was designed to go into the Badlands (at the time it was constructed, that was too risky for other ships). Tom was the first who landed the ship ("The 37s") and Janeway confessed she'd never landed a starship before either. The nacelles folded so it could go past warp 5 without causing damage to subspace.
