1. Barbara Wright

Answer: Lexa

Barbara Wright was one of the companion of the First Doctor from 1963 to 1965. She had worked as a history teacher at Coal Hill School. She would often come to the forefront in the historical serials.

Lexa was the leader of a group of religious fanatics in the 1980 serial "Meglos" during the time of the Fourth Doctor.

Both roles were played by Jacqueline Hill (1929-1993).
2. Samantha Briggs

Answer: Queen Victoria

Samantha Briggs appears in the 1967 serial "The Faceless One" during the time of the Second Doctor. She is a young woman from Liverpool who is searching for her brother.

Queen Victoria appears in the 2006 episode "Tooth and Claw". Rather disapproving of the Tenth Doctor, she is responsible for setting up Torchwood, designed to deal with the problems which appear in the Doctor's wake.

Both roles were portrayed by Pauline Collins (born 1940) was also known for starring on the first two series of "Upstairs, Downstairs" (1971-1973).
3. Romana I

Answer: Strella

Romana's first on-screen incarnation was during the 1978-1979 season (in the story arc known as "The Key of Time"), during the time of the Fourth Doctor. Like the Doctor, she was a native of Gallifrey.

Princess Strella is a victim of kidnapping who appears in the 1979 serial "The Androids of Tara".

Both roles were played by Mary Tamm (1950-2012), a regular presence in BBC productions from the 1970s until the 2000s.
4. Romana II

Answer: Astra of Atrios

The second incarnation of Romana was seen from 1979 to 1981, continuing to serve as a companion of the Doctor. Romana explains that she chose to regenerate into the appearance of Astra in honor of her.

Astra of Atrois appears in the 1979 serial "The Armageddon Factor" and is a part of the Key of Time.

Both roles were portrayed by Lalla Word (born 1951), active with the BBC from the 1970s until the 1990s.
5. Nyssa

Answer: Ann Talbot

Nyssa appeared as a companion of both the Fourth Doctor and the Fifth Doctor for Seasons 18-20 (1981-1983) with some later cameo appearances. She is an aristocrat from the planet Traken.

Ann Talbot appeared in the 1982 serial "Black Orchid", "Doctor Who's first attempt at a purely historical serial since 1966.

Actress Sarah Sutton (born 1961) portrayed both roles.
6. Gwen Cooper

Answer: Gwyneth

Gwen Cooper is an agent for Torchwood. She appears both in the series "Torchwood" (2006-2011) and also the 2008 episodes "The Stolen Earth" and "Journey's End" of "Doctor Who". In universe, she is a descendant of Gwyneth.

19th century maid Gwyneth appeared in the 2005 episode "The Unquiet Dead". She dies as a result of the Geith (the monsters of the week) crossing over from their universe to ours.

Martha Jones is a medical student who serves as a companion for the Tenth Doctor during the 2007 season. She also made appearances in the series "Torchwood".

Adeola Oshodi was an employee of the Torchwood Institute who appeared in the 2006 episode "Army of Ghosts". She was later revealed to be a cousin of Martha Jones.

8. Chantho

Answer: Fortune Teller

Insectoid Chantho is a assistant to the elderly Professor Yana before he transforms into the Master. She appears in the 2007 episode "Utopia".

The Fortune Teller gives companion Donna Noble a chance to experience a world where she never met the Doctor. She appears in the 2008 episode "Turn Left".

9. Francine Jones

Answer: Jatt

Francine Jones is the mother of Companion Martha Jones. She appeared in several episodes of the 2007 season of "Doctor Who".

Sister Jatt is a nurse who appears in the 2006 episode "New Earth". She is a member of a feline-like species.

Actress Andjoa Andoh (born 1963) has appeared regularly in BBC productions beginning in the 1990s. She portrayed both roles.
10. Amy Pond

Answer: Soothsayer

Amy Pond, wife of Rory, and companion of the Eleventh Doctor, appeared in episodes of "Doctor Who" from 2010 to 2012. He daughter would later evolve into recurring character River Song.

The Soothsayer appeared in the 20080 episode "The Fires of Pompeii".
