Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Ilkley, a town found just within the boundaries of West Yorkshire, is the location of the mansion of a millionaire named Oscar Lomax. What disability does this 'Psychoville' character have?

Answer: Blindness

Mr. Lomax seems to like shouting and frequently jumps out on his visitor Michael Fry. Michael Fry initially came to the blind Oscar Lomax's mansion to read to him but Fry eventually became useful in other, quite bizarre, capacities. Oscar Lomax refers to Michael Fry as "Tealeaf", from tea leaf the rhyming slang for thief, due to the miscreant past of the latter.
2. The 'Psychoville' character, Oscar Lomax, is an eccentric millionaire who resides alone in his West Yorkshire mansion. In what "commodities" does Mr. Lomax deal?

Answer: Toys

When another 'Psychoville' character, Michael Fry, came to the mansion to read to the blind Mr. Lomax, Fry attempted to get into a special room. Eventually he gained access to the room containing "commodities" which Fry asserts are just toys. Lomax snapped that these Beanies weren't toys but "commodities" and that they were very valuable. Lomax had an extensive collection and was missing just one, a green alligator that he soon happened to stumble across on eBay!
3. Possibly the weirdest 'Psychoville' character, though certainly not without stiff competition, is Joy Aston who works as a midwife in a hospital in Bristol. Which actress plays the role of Joy Aston?

Answer: Dawn French

Dawn French, of 'The Vicar of Dibley' fame and one of my favourite actresses, very convincingly plays the neurotic midwife in 'Psychoville'. The character Joy Aston seems to want a baby of her own so badly that she resorts to carrying around a baby doll and treating it as real! Her "child" is called Freddie.
4. At the end of the second episode of 'Psychoville', the psychotic midwife Joy Aston was seen filling a bottle up with a certain fluid from the hospital in which she worked. What did Joy Aston fill the bottle up with?

Answer: Blood

Prior to stealing the blood from the blood bank of a hospital in Bristol, Joy Aston punched one of her colleagues when the colleague attempted to take the doll that Joy called Freddie back to the room where all the other dolls are kept. Joy got so annoyed because she treats that doll as if it is a real child and takes it home where she looks after it.
5. In the district of Wood Green, North London, resides 'Psychoville' character David Sowerbutts and his mother, Maureen. David has an obsession with which of the following?

Answer: Serial killers

The first we see of 'Psychoville' characters David and Maureen is when the former is sitting in the lap of the latter (and yes, David is a grown man). The mother, Maureen, is testing her son, David, on serial killers whilst scratching his back, where he appears to have a skin complaint.
6. In the second episode of 'Psychoville' David Sowerbutts gets hired as a butler in a restaurant which puts on a special event. In this episode, what does David use a string of sausages for?

Answer: To provide a realistic disembowelment

The restaurant that David worked at often put on murder mystery evenings and he played the butler. David, who was obsessed with serial killers, one day made a murder more realistic than expected as he hung the "dead woman" upside down and arranged a string of sausages to come "out of her body".

The very realistic arrangement shocked many of the diners as it really did look as if she had been disemboweled!
7. In the first few episodes of 'Psychoville' a clown named Mr. Jelly was seen. What part of the body was Mr. Jelly missing?

Answer: A hand

It was to be found out later in the first series of 'Psychoville' that Mr. Jelly had to have an operation on his hand to ease the effects of repetitive strain injury. The surgery was unsuccessful and what was worse for Mr. Jelly was that he ended up with his hand amputated.
8. In 'Psychoville' a clown named Mr. Jelly was often seen competing against another local clown called Mr. Jolly! Before becoming a clown, what was Mr. Jolly's profession?

Answer: Surgeon

As the plot unfolded it became apparent that Mr. Jolly had stolen Mr. Jelly's act. During a flashback Mr. Jelly was in hospital undergoing an operation on the tendons in his hand and it is seen that Mr. Jolly was the surgeon! Whilst a surgeon, Mr. Jolly was known as Stuart Strachen. Throughout the first series of 'Psychoville' there are many arguments between the two clowns.
9. In 'Psychoville' viewers are taken to Eastbourne, East Sussex where the rehearsals take place for a pantomime production of 'Snow White'. Which of the following is true about one of the actors in the pantomime, Robert Greenspan?

Answer: He is a dwarf

Robert is a dwarf and he does indeed play one of the seven dwarfs in the production of 'Snow White'. Throughout the series it is discovered that Robert fancies the production's lead actress, Debbie. Debbie however didn't like Robert in the same way.
10. On many occasions in 'Psychoville' the pantomime actor, Robert Greenspan, gets very angry at the people around him. In moments of anger he appears to exhibit characteristics of which of the following?

Answer: Telekinesis

Throughout the first few episodes of 'Psychoville', numerous examples of Robert's perceived telekinetic powers have been seen. To name but a few, the pantomime actor has blown up a TV set, blown up a light bulb and knocked out the lead actress, Debbie, with a coffin lid!
It is later found out that it is not Robert who is telekinetic, but another of the pantomime dwarfs!
