Answer: Sleeping naked outside Jimmy's house

In the beginning of the episode, Jimmy and Gretchen are sleeping outside Jimmy's house completely naked after supposedly a night of heavy drinking. Edgar walks out of the house in the morning to find them like this. He grabs a blanket from inside the house and covers them up before taking the newspaper and going back in.

A couple see the two of them lying like that on the ground and run away in disgust.

In this scene, Gretchen and Jimmy are comfortable enough to use the bathroom around each other. Gretchen suddenly asks Jimmy for a key to his house as she left a lot of her stuff at his place. This makes things awkward between them and Gretchen asks Jimmy what was the big deal. Jimmy then goes on to explain that it is the loss of his freedom.

He somehow convinces Gretchen that she was wrong to ask and she leaves his place.

Answer: That it was Gretchen's birthday

Jimmy complains to Edgar about Gretchen's request for a key. Edgar tries to tell Jimmy that it could be nice to have someone. Jimmy tells him that it's not just a key but it's a symbol for a path that leads to a mediocre life. He tells Edgar that he doesn't know how to do relationship things. Edgar then reveals that it's Gretchen's birthday and that may be why she was moody.

The pair then find Gretchen's phone on the table.

Answer: He staples it multiple times

After they find her phone while at the table for breakfast, Jimmy says he will return it to her. Edgar asks him to hand over the phone but Jimmy vows not to snoop. Edgar doesn't believe him and so he puts it into a brown paper bag and staples it multiple times with Jimmy questioning the difficulty of pulling out a couple of staples.

Answer: No

Lindsay meets up with Gretchen for a meal at a diner that Gretchen frequents. Lindsay reveals to her that she is on a juice cleanse only to be ridiculed as a cliche. Lindsay says that she is doing it because the wives at Paul's firm are all skinny and so she needs to be too.

They then go on to discuss Gretchen's life with Lindsay saying that she wishes her life was complicated too. Gretchen gets called away on a work emergency and leaves the restaurant after which Lindsay eats Gretchen's leftovers, proving that she really isn't on a juice cleanse.

Answer: A message from Ty

While Jimmy is driving to give Gretchen's phone back, he tries to distract himself from the phone's constant ringing by singing along to opera music. He finally gives in and opens the brown paper bag and gets his hands on her phone. He tries to guess the lock code to her phone but doesn't succeed.

He gets to read a notification of a message from Ty, a movie director Gretchen has planned to meet, and has a surprised reaction. Edgar then drives up to Jimmy's parked car and sees him snooping on her phone and gives a disappointed reaction.

Answer: Sam, Gretchen's client

After Jimmy returns Gretchen's phone, he comes out of the building and runs into her client, Sam, who himself just got an earful from Gretchen for using homophobic slurs against a gay journalist. He asks Jimmy for a smoke and tells him that he knows that he and Gretchen are together. He tells Jimmy that she is a great person and he gives her special privileges because of who she is. He tells Jimmy that he liked his book during this conversation even though he thought it was boring. Jimmy then gives Sam a key to his apartment to give to Gretchen.

Gretchen tries to reason with Darren about Sam being a kid and that he usually talks that way. She tells him that he uses slurs like that always and it is just a part of his language and he didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings. Darren refuses to keep it quiet and so Gretchen pretends to be disappointed and walks away when Darren tells her that he knows that Caliber (Gretchen's company) has a budget to keep this news quiet. Gretchen offers 2000 dollars and agrees to his request for another interview with Sam to keep the news quiet.

Jimmy goes to a restaurant thinking that Gretchen is having her date there with Ty because of the message he saw earlier. He then goes inside to find out that she is having a birthday dinner with Edgar, Lindsay, and a few other friends that he wasn't invited to. Gretchen sees Jimmy and pulls aside and they start talking about what they are doing together. Ty interrupts their conversation and gives her a bottle of wine as a gift.

He then introduces them to his date, a woman named Element. Ty tries to introduce himself to Jimmy but he constantly mocks at Ty. Ty then leaves the restaurant in a hurry saying he has to be somewhere else. Gretchen asks Jimmy to stay at the dinner and join everyone.

Answer: Sam and Darren

After the birthday dinner, Gretchen and Jimmy walk home and have a nice conversation. She tells Jimmy that Sam didn't give her the key earlier after Jimmy had asked him to give it to her. They knock the door to his place and Sam opens the door with no clothes on and is then joined by Darren. She asks Sam if he is gay and he says no and gives a very vivid compliment about Darren.
