Answer: Barney Stinson

Incidentally, Ted Mosby's middle name is Evelyn -- not a common name for a man...

Dean and Sam Winchester were born into a family of supernatural investigators - Sam rebelled against the family trade early on, but they've joined forces and travel together hunting demons.

4. Donna Moss may be his romantic interest, but who is Josh Lyman's closest friend on "The West Wing"?

Answer: Sam Seaborn

Josh and Sam have very different personalities but develop a close relationship. Sam had originally been recruited by Josh to work in Bartlet's administration, but he left after the first term. He is reunited with Josh again when he returns to work in Santos' administration.

Answer: Deputy Fife

Deputy Barney Fife is always ready for action - he just needs to load his gun with that bullet! Sheriff Andy Taylor is the more dependable lawman on "The Andy Griffith Show", but there is no denying Barney's enthusiasm.

6. Excluding alternate realities, whose relationship with Samantha Carter is more or less professional on "Stargate SG-1"?

Answer: Jack O'Neill

Military policies against fraternization keep Carter and O'Neill apart, but it's probably for the best - sexual tension is great for ratings!

Incidentally, Kurt Russell played the character of Jack O'Neil in the Stargate movie, which preceded the TV show. Richard Dean Anderson took over the role on the small screen and added another "l" to the character's name. The second "l" makes all the difference.

7. Sometimes friendship leads to marriage. Which TV lawyers get married in the series finale of "Boston Legal"?

Answer: Alan Shore and Denny Crane

Womanizing lawyers Alan Shore and Denny Crane are close friends on "Boston Legal", but after Denny's illness worsens, the two are married by U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonin Scalia (ok... an actor playing Antonin Scalia). The reasons given are practical: Alan can make medical decisions for Denny and inherit his wealth without tax complications, and he won't have to testify against Denny in any future (and inevitable) prosecutions. But the real reason is that those two just belong together!

8. Sometimes friendship doesn't lead to marriage. Which TV inhabitants of the Bayview Retirement Village in "Waiting for God" call off their wedding at the last moment?

Answer: Diana Trent and Tom Ballard

Diana and Tom are co-conspirators in various shenanigans around the retirement home, but their friendship eventually develops into something more. The impending wedding, however, is too much, and they decide to leave their relationship as is.

9. Some friendships can be life-changing. Who rebuilt and mentored Kryten, the robotic manservant on "Red Dwarf" - making him almost human?

Answer: Dave Lister

Lister taught Kryten to think for himself -- a valuable lesson even for non-robots. Kryten (played by Robert Llewellyn who was also a host for "Scrapheap Challenge") was human-looking with the exception of his odd-shaped head -- one of the guns used by the British Royal Navy has been nicknamed the Kryten Gun because of its similar shape.

10. Some friendships cross generations. With whom does Leroy Jethro Gibbs have a paternal relationship on "NCIS"?

Answer: Abby Sciuto

They seem like such an odd couple - the ex-gunnery sergeant and the goth, but she likely takes the place of his late daughter. Besides being protective of her, he treats her better than the rest of the crew -- no slaps upside the head!
