Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What game, played in a maze requires the player (humanoid), to enter the maze and exit at a different opening of the field of play and avoid being vaporized by a robot's laser fire, touching a wall and "Evil Otto"?

Answer: Berzerk

The best-remembered feature of "Berzerk" is the talking robots, saying phrases like, "Intruder alert! Intruder alert!" and "Got the Humanoid, got the intruder". The function of "Evil Otto", the bouncing smiley face, is to quicken the pace of the game.
2. What classic required the player to jump from cube to cube to change the colors of the blocks while avoiding Coily, Ugg, Slick, Sam, and Wrongway?

Answer: Q-Bert

Later rounds in "Q-Bert" become more challenging: cubes have to be touched twice and change back to the wrong color if they get hopped on again. A port of this game is available as a download from the PlayStation Store on the PlayStation 3.
3. In which game does a knight ride an ostrich and attempt to destroy an enemy knight by colliding with the knight?

Answer: Joust

After destroying an enemy knight, a giant egg is released. The (player's) knight must touch the egg to destroy it else it will hatch and a new enemy knight will emerge.
4. Undoubtedly one of the most popular arcade games, in which game do you navigate a maze, eating "dots" while being pursued by Blinky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde?

Answer: Pacman

"Pacman" ushered in a new genre of video games that were not space battle centric. This game has 256 levels. The maximum possible score is 3,333,360 points if you were to eat every fruit, every Power Pellet, every blue ghost and every dot.
5. In which game are you a fighter plane and flying through a pseudo 3D field shooting at enemy planes, missiles, and gunfire, hitting as many targets as possible without being shot down or running out of fuel?

Answer: Zaxxon

Due to its popularity, Sega, Bandai and Coleco all released "Zaxxon" handheld games. "Zaxxon" had a sequel, "Super Zaxxon" which did not do as well as the original in the arcades.
6. In which game does a Damsel in distress, Pauline, get rescued from the title character by Mario the plumber (previously known as "Jumpman")?

10. Which simple, yet addictive, game had aliens marching left and right across the screen, shifting downward on each full pass to the left or right with an occasional UFO flying across the top of the screen for extra points if destroyed?

Answer: Space Invaders

The sped-up movement of the aliens as they were reduced in number was an unintentional programming glitch. As the screen was refreshed with less characters, it was able to move faster.
11. Which space battle game required you to shoot and destroy large chunks of floating rocks, and battle enemy flying saucers?

Answer: Asteroids

"Asteroids" was so addictive that some video arcades had to install larger coin boxes to hold the quarters that were pumped into the machine. "Asteroids" was Atari's most successful arcade game.
12. Which game, played in a playfield with mushrooms, flowers, DDT bombs and had enemy spiders, ladybugs, dragonflies, and other bugs?

14. In which game do you dig underground tunnels while avoiding the Pookas and Fygars that can be defeated by pumping them up until they explode or by luring them under a rock to crush them?

17. In which game does Zeke build a retaining wall to keep animals from escaping to rescue his girlfriend Zelda, who was kidnapped by a monkey?

20. Which classic consisted of four games in one, including tanks, lightcycles, grid bugs and the MCP and was based on a movie of the same name?
