Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Because of Nagito's antics during the first class trial, what do the remaining students decide to do with him?

Answer: Tie him up

The students no longer trusted Nagito after he falsely incriminated himself during the class trial and after he admitted to planning to murder Byakuya. Many students wanted to kill him but that would have been against the rules and forced another class trial that risked executing mostly everyone. Over the objections of Monomi, they decided to tie Nagito and abandon him in the old building by the hotel.

They agree to periodically check up on him and feed him so he doesn't die.
2. Which building on Second Island cannot be accessed immediately?

Answer: The ruins

Second Island is home to a number of new buildings including the diner, the library and the beach house - all of which can be entered and used immediately. The one place that is locked is the ruins which look suspiciously like Hope's Peak Academy only overrun by vines, trees and foliage.

The front door is locked and requires a password to enter. There is also an unusual symbol on the door which appears to be the Japanese word for "future". Monokuma explains it is the symbol for the Future Foundation who is responsible for bringing the students to the island in the first place.
3. What activity did the girls plan to do that was interrupted by the discovery of Mahiru's body?

Answer: Swimming

The majority of the girls were planning to attend a beach party and go swimming at three o'clock. Only the eight girls were invited but Mahiru and Hiyoko declined the invitation. Kazuichi wrangled Hajime into going to the diner so they can see the girls in their swimsuits. Specifically, Kazuichi wanted to see Sonia in a bikini (hilariously she arrives in a full-length body suit much to Kazuichi's dismay).

One by one, the girls arrive at the diner on their way to the beach house but never have their beach party. Hiyoko runs by crying and soon afterward, Mahiru is found dead in the beach house.
4. Which of the following is true regarding the beach house where Mahiru's body was found?

Answer: The water wasn't working

The beach house did have a bathroom, only the water system is broken and thus has no running water. In addition, neither entrance was locked. Mahiru's body was propped up against the back door so it couldn't be opened. The front door was opened which is how the other students enter and exit the beach house.

It was a rule that changing was not permitted in the beach house. This combined with the lack of water left a number of questions about the murder - most importantly the question of how the killer got the blood off of their body.
5. Which of the following pairs is NOT an accurate match between the students and the characters in the game "Twilight Syndrome Murder Case"?

Answer: Girl E - Mahiru

For the second motive, Monokuma introduces an arcade game called "Twilight Syndrome Murder Case" and says the plot is based on actual events. The students, believing this to be a trap, agree not to play the game. However, several of them do including Hajime.

None of the characters in the game have any names other than Girls A-E, Guy F and an unnamed dead girl. Despite this, it is very clear who each character corresponds to. Girl A is meek and bullied by Girl B, a clear indication they are Mikan and Hiyoko, respectively. Girl C is loud like Ibuki. Girl D is a photographer like Mahiru. However, Girl E doesn't seem to correspond to anyone in particular. Girl E implies that she killed the unnamed girl to protect Girl D from being bullied. This conversation is overheard by Guy F who acts like Fuyuhiko.

Girl E turns out to be, according to the credits, a girl named Sato who is not on the field trip with the rest of the students. As the plot of the game happened in real life, Monokuma explains that Sato was a student at Hope's Peak Academy who was murdered by another student before the other students had their school memories stolen.
6. Who killed Girl E?

Answer: Guy F

In "Twilight Syndrome Murder Case", Girl E (the equivalent to Sato in real life) is murdered with a baseball bat and propped up against the wall just as how Mahiru was discovered in the beach house. There are two secret chapters in the game that when discovered will show Guy F angrily overhear Girl D and Girl E talking about how Girl E killed the unknown victim at the beginning of the game. The victim is Guy F's little sister and took out revenge by killing Girl E.

According to the end credits, Guy F must be Fuyuhiko as he is the only male in the game. As Hajime determines, at Hope's Peak Academy before the students had their memories erased, Sato killed Fuyuhiko's little sister and Fuyuhiko then killed her. Monokuma said "Twilight Syndrome Murder Case" was based on true events. Fuyuhiko then quickly rises to prime suspect because Mahiru was also involved in the real-life murder of his sister.
7. How do Hajime and Chiaki know Hiyoko was being framed for the murder?

Answer: There was a yellow gummi bear in the closet

Along with Fuyuhiko, Hiyoko is the other main suspect. She was seen crying and running away from the beach house around the time of the murder. In addition, there was a gummi bear on the floor of the closet. However, this gummi bear was yellow and not only does Hiyoko hate yellow gummi bears, the brand she eats doesn't even come with yellow ones.

Hajime and Chiaki bring this to light and determine Hiyoko was framed. Indeed, Hiyoko was drugged and tossed in the beach house's closet so she would be found at the crime scene. The gummi bear was an extra precaution in case Hiyoko woke up and fled (which is indeed what happened).
8. Who was the first person to complete the entirety of the "Twilight Syndrome Murder Case" game and receive the bonus prize?

Answer: Fuyuhiko

It is unknown exactly how many people completed the extra chapters of the arcade game. It is known that Chiaki and Hajime completed the game together and Nagito also finished the game on his own (after being freed by Monomi). However, none of them received the bonus prize so they each knew someone else had played the entirety of the game and lied about it.

The bonus prize is found in Mahiru's cabin and contains photos of the students at Hope's Peak Academy. This confirms that the students not only knew each other prior to the killing school trip but are also the characters in "Twilight Syndrome Murder Case". The events in the arcade game happened in real life. However, Mahiru did not receive the bonus prize. Fuyuhiko did and sent the files to Mahiru so they could talk about what happened to Fuyuhiko's sister.
9. Who was NOT counted amongst the necessary three people to discover Mahiru's body to prompt the body discovery announcement?

Answer: Ibuki

From the player's point of view, Kazuichi was the first to discover Mahiru's body and the announcement rang out soon afterward. However, the announcement only appears when three people discover the body and part of the trial is dedicated to discovering who the other two people were.

Monokuma confirms the murderer is not counted amongst the three unless he or she discovers the body at a later point in time. Hiyoko confesses that she saw the body when she woke up and that is why she cried and ran out of the beach house. But that still leaves one person.

That person is Fuyuhiko who was with Peko when she killed Mahiru. Fuyuhiko and Peko were childhood friends even before attending Hope's Peak Academy so their memories of each other were not erased. Fuyuhiko is a yakuza leader and Peko considers him her master. She killed Mahiru in revenge so her master would not risk being executed at the class trial should he be discovered. Fuyuhiko was with Peko at the time but he repeatedly tried to stop her from murdering Mahiru.
10. Which student tries to save Peko during her execution?

Answer: Fuyuhiko

Peko receives the One-Woman Army execution in which she must use her abilities to fight off Monokuma's killer robots. Although she is skilled, Fuyuhiko runs in a futile attempt to save her. Peko becomes distracted trying to protect her master and is killed. Fuyuhiko suffers an eye injury and spends the remainder of the game wearing an eyepatch.
