Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. After Chiaki's execution, the remaining five students are able to enter the ruins. What is the password to gain entrance?

Answer: 11037

Those who played the first game will recognize 11037 as the bloody message Sayaka left for Makoto in the first chapter if that game. Sayaka attempted to write the name of her killer (Leon) in blood but it wound up looking like 11037. That message saved Makoto's life. Because the number is of such significance to Makoto and it is the password to ruins, there is some connection between the previous game's hero and the Killing School Trip of this game.
2. In the Chapter 0 interlude, which character has an unusual arm?

Answer: Nagito

Chapter 0 is a brief interlude before the final chapter begins. It takes place on the ship to Jabberwock Island at the beginning of the game. Nagito can be seen talking to an unknown person about hope and despair. It is then revealed by the unknown speaker that Nagito has potentially been up to no good as evidenced by his arm. One of Nagito's arm clearly belongs to a girl.

It has long, painted nails and is noticeably more slender than the other. This is not a physical feature Nagito possessed on the island, however.
3. The inside of the ruins resembles which other place?

Answer: Hope's Peak Academy

The ruins appear to be an exact replica of Hope's Peak Academy from the first game and the school the kids on the Killing School Trip were supposed to attend. Monokuma explains the ruins contain information about the Future Foundation and answers as to why the students were sent on the Killing School Trip. All will be revealed at the final class trial.
4. Which of the following is NOT something the remaining students found while exploring the ruins?

Answer: A dead body

There is no body found in Chapter 6 nor is there any death to investigate.

As they explore the school, the students come across a number of peculiar things. The strangest thing is a photo of Hiyoko accompanied by an article about her dancing. Although she was the same age as the other students, Hiyoko appeared to be much younger in age. However, she is grown up in the photograph despite her death three chapters prior.

They also discover a series of emails between Makoto and the Future Foundation that seem to indicate either Makoto went rogue and betrayed the organization or the Future Foundation isn't what it appears to be.

Monokuma leaves a series of small novels that detail some of the events that happened prior to the students losing their memories. Among them are stories about the Tragedy that sent the world into despair, Junko Enoshima and how all but one of the reserve students committed mass suicide.
5. During the class trial, Hajime drops the bombshell revelation that Jabberwock Island where the students have been living is what?

Answer: A computer simulation

During the investigation phase, Hajime spoke with Alter Ego from the first game who explained he created Jabberwock Island. Makoto and his allies brought the 16 students to Jabberwock Island, although Alter Ego fails to explain why. Hajime concludes that Jabberwock Island is a computer program and he and the rest were transported there for a purpose.

However, that purpose was disturbed when Monokuma invaded the program.
6. The remaining students refuse to believe Hajime when he says they have lost about two years worth of memories because which of them would have noticed a physical change in another?

Answer: Fuyuhiko

Fuyuhiko knew Peko since childhood and well before the killing game started. Fuyuhiko said that Peko had not aged as surely she would have in the span of two years. Hajime says that not only have two years of memories been stolen but their bodies as well.

In order to enter the virtual Jabberwock Island, the sixteen students were captured and brought into a comatose state. Their minds were then uploaded to the program but as they were two years prior. This is why their bodies appear younger than they really are. Hajime uses the photo of Hiyoko as proof. That Hiyoko was clearly older than she was while on the island.

The photo was taken during her years at Hope's Peak Academy. However, when she entered the Neo World Program, she was uploaded as she was when she started at the academy.
7. Which of the following trios consists entirely of characters who are not remnants of despair?

Answer: Chiaki, Monomi, Monokuma

The remnants of despair are part of Junko's Ultimate Despair group who continued spreading despair after death and were instrumental in bringing about the Tragedy. All of the students on the killing school trip, except Chiaki, are remnants of despair. Against the wishes of the Future Foundation, Makoto and the other survivors from the first game brought them to Jabberwock Island to reform them. However, things went awry when Monokuma invaded and began a second killing game.

The real Chiaki was a student in the same class as everyone else (except Hajime who was a reserve student) but died. She never joined Junko's Ultimate Despair. The Chiaki in the Neo World Program was also virtual. Her job was to monitor her fellow students' progress as an observer, along with Usami.
8. The fake Makoto who arrives during the class trial tries to convince the students to do what?

Answer: Graduate

Makoto interrupts the class trial and explains that the students can choose to graduate and return to the real world. Monokuma seems eager to allow the students to do this which raises a red flag in Hajime's mind. Makoto is, however, a fake and Hajime exposes him as such.

The real Makoto arrives along with Kyoko and the real Byakuya (not the Ultimate Imposter who impersonated him in the first chapter of the game) to explain the truth of the situation.
9. The students who were killed during the course of the Killing Game are not actually dead.

Answer: True

With the exception of Chiaki (who died before the game began) none of the students who died in the course of the game are actually dead. Their simulated avatars are dead but they are still alive back in the real world. However, when the Neo World Program ends, these students may not survive anyway because of the virus. They are currently clinging to life and in desperate situations.
10. Who is Izuru Kamakura?

Answer: The Founder of Hope's Peak Academy

Izuru Kamakura founded Hope's Peak Academy many years before the events of the game take place. His name was used for a project in the present day by the Steering Committee to create the Ultimate Hope. However, the project went awry and was kept secret from many of the staff, including the Headmaster.
11. Which student was chosen for the Izuru Kamukura Project?

Answer: Hajime

Hajime was a reserve course student at Hope's Peak Academy and didn't have an ultimate talent. However, the Steering Committee saw something special in Hajime and convinced him to undergo the Izuru Kamukura Project that would erase his memories and turn him into the Ultimate Hope.

However, the experiment left Hajime completely devoid of emotion and Junko easily exploited him. The Ultimate Hope joined the Ultimate Despair and committed various atrocities until he was kidnapped and force into the Neo World Program.
12. Why did Izuru allow the Junko virus into the Neo Hope Program?

Answer: So he could witness the battle between hope and despair

Hajime, as Izuru, sent the Junko virus which launched the Killing Game into the Neo World Program because he was unsure which side he should align with. Although he was active in the Ultimate Despair, his intentions to be the Ultimate Hope counteracted that. Izuru was unsure which to side with so he sent the Junko virus into the program to watch the two battle it out and he would join the winning side.
13. Which of the following is something that would happen should the remaining five students decide to graduate?

Answer: Junko will be downloaded into the minds of their deceased classmates

Should the students decide to graduate, Junko's personality would be downloaded into the minds of their deceased classmates and will bring about even more despair. This is why Monokuma was so quick to let the students graduate before they learned the truth.

The students who survived thus far, however, would return to their normal personalities but remain members of the Ultimate Despair.
14. Why can't the Junko virus end the Neo World Program?

Answer: It's against the rules

The two ways to end the Neo World Program are through graduation or by emergency shut down. However, Junko cannot force the students to graduate. She is only a virus and thus is not in full control of the program. She is bound by the rules of the field trip. The rules state that the students can only graduate upon approval from their teacher who was Usami/Monomi, who is now dead.

Junko did not know about the emergency shut down procedure. However, there aren't enough living students to activate it. That is until Junko lured Makoto, Kyoko and Byakuya into the program. She inadvertently provided enough people to activate the shut down sequence.
15. The students ultimately decide to do what?

Answer: Activate the shutdown

Although the five students are eager to return to the real world, they are just as eager to not return to their former states as Ultimate Despair members. They are also determined not to sacrifice their fallen students to Junko. They each agree to remain on the island and activate the shutdown sequence. This will allow the Future Foundation to purge the Junko virus from the Neo World Program. The students will have to remain on the island until they have been rehabilitated.

There is no guarantee that day will ever come nor can the Future Foundation guarantee the fallen students can be saved. However, everyone is full of hope that it can be done.
