Katie suggests that Nancy borrow a GPS from Holt Scotto. Holt makes her answer a ten-question quiz before he will allow her to use it.

Nancy rides her bike around Deception Island. Be careful, though - if Nancy doesn't wear her helmet, she crashes and ends the game!

Holt is a middle-aged, gray-bearded fisherman. When Nancy comments that he doesn't look like a politician, Holt says, "Why, thank you, young lady. I think it's high time people around here start doing what makes sense instead of what's politically correct all the time."

The creature is nicknamed "Caddy." As for the other options, Aphrosaurus and Muraenosaurus were both prehistoric aquatic reptiles - aka plesiosaurs (from which I derived the fourth option, "Plesiosaurus").

Jenna has owned the Hot Kettle for 15 years. The restaurant has been in her family ever since it was built, way back in the mid-1800s.

Each of the messages in the bottles contains a jumble of numbers and one word: "Rosebud." The word proves to be the key to opening a box Nancy finds on the hidden beach.

Holt asks for a male dungeness crab, which Nancy finds at the beach near the lighthouse. Males and females can be distinguished by the width of their abdomens - males' are much narrower.

Nancy has to find 15 clams before Jenna can get the necklace that Hilda gave her. Together, the letters on Hilda's three gifts spell out "elephtrenonebum" - an anagram which, when rearranged, spells "telephone number." Hilda wants Nancy to send her telephone number from the top of the lighthouse in Morse code.

The combination is 3-4-7-5. Nancy finds it in Holt's duffel bag while using the chess book in the bag to solve a chess puzzle Holt gives her. Holt catches Nancy trespassing near the lighthouse and sends her away, but later in the game she returns and enters the lighthouse.

Andy gives a keychain to everyone who takes a Whale World whale-watching tour, so Nancy gets one for free (after a bit of begging). Hilda gave gifts to Andy, Jenna, and Holt before leaving Snake Horse Harbor.

The diversions don't help Nancy solve the mystery, but they sure are fun! Nancy also finds clams for Jenna on the secret beach, as well as a box of mysterious papers left by Hilda.

Within a week, all three businesses were robbed by thieves who accessed them through the secret tunnel. The Hot Kettle is robbed while Jenna is getting the necklace for Nancy.

Nancy contacts Casey Porterfield at the Maritime Library, who agrees to research the origin of the driftwood. But first he needs to know what kind of wood it is, so Nancy calls Dr. Predoviciu (Nancy finds her number in a book about "Arboreal Morphology") who identifies the wood as Luan.

Hilda Swenson and her husband were writer/producers in Hollywood and moved to Snake Horse Harbor when they retired. She was the mayor of the town, but after her husband died, Jenna tells Nancy, "she kinda died then too." She began talking to walls and doing all sorts of crazy things, and most of the citizens of Snake Horse Harbor believe that she went insane.

However, Hilda reveals to Nancy that this was just an act - that she pretended to be insane because she wanted people to leave her alone.

This information, along with the rest of Jenna's prices, can be found on a menu board above the counter. Hilda asks you to use this information to solve a puzzle she sends you via email.

As it turned out, the gloves were actually stolen by the villain's henchmen. Nancy also finds cargo containers and an orca harness in the sea caves.

Hilda Swenson owns this island, and has lived there ever since her husband died. Nancy never gets to visit this island in the game.

When the fish are totally defrosted, Nancy comments about the terrible smell in the boat. Evidently there's no power to the freezer, or to the fridge that the sandwich-making supplies are stored in - if you give Katie a sandwich made with those supplies, you'll give her food poisoning and end the game!

Nancy asks Holt and Jenna for a ride, but Holt refuses to help, and Jenna can't leave the cafe. Andy takes Nancy out to the site of the wreck, and from there Nancy paddles her kayak up to a ship where she discovers valuable animal pelts illegally salvaged from the "Whitechapel Dawn."

Andy learned that the S.S. Whitechapel Dawn, which sank near Snake Horse Harbor, was carrying smuggled animal furs, and he used a military-trained orca to recover furs from the wreck.
