Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which button do you press (on the SNES controller) while in the air to perform Dixie's helicopter twirl?

Answer: Y

While Diddy's unique ability is the ability to cartwheel (while on the ground), Dixie's is the ability to float through the air like a helicopter, swinging her hair around in a circle. This allows Dixie to be used to cross longer gaps while Diddy can spin on the ground, double-jumping while in mid-air (though this can be trickier to accomplish). If Dixie tries pressing the Y button on the ground (like Diddy performing his cartwheel), she'll swing her hair at the nearest enemy in a spin.
2. Which animal companion does not appear in this game?

Answer: Expresso

While Expresso the Ostrich was an animal companion in the first "Donkey Kong Country", he, along with Winky the Frog, does not appear in this sequel. The only returning animals are Rambi the Rhino and Enguarde the Swordfish (and Squawks the Parrot, though in a different capacity). Newcomers to the animal companion roster include Squitter the Spider, Rattly the Snake, and Clapper the Seal. Expresso does, however, appear in the Game Boy Advance version of the game, "Donkey Kong Land 2", but only after collecting all of the Golden Feathers.
3. Which Kong hosts trivia games in "Donkey Kong Country 2"?

Answer: Swanky

Swanky is the newest addition to the Kong Family in "Donkey Kong Country 2", hosting Swanky's Bonus Bonanza. Appearing in nearly every world of the game, Swanky will reward the player with one-up, two-up, and three-up balloons provided they pay for his trivia games (each consisting of three questions) and answer them correctly. Each trivia game costs Banana Coins (except for the first one). Candy Kong is is lovely assistant, having traded in her Save Station job for a cushier position as a game show model.
4. How many DK Hero Coins can be found in the game?

Answer: Forty

DK Hero Coins are large medallions found in every regular platforming level of the game (one per), and collecting each one will help the player rise through the Video Game Hero Hall opened by Cranky Kong (and assessed once you defeat K. Rool). Kremcoins are a bit different; you can get those by completing boss battles and Bonus Barrels.

They're actually required to complete the game while DK Hero Coins are more applicable to completionists.
5. Gangplank Galleon is which stage of the game, chronologically?

Answer: First

Gangplank Galleon is the first destination visited in the game. This pirate ship, also the last level of the original "Donkey Kong Country", is much larger in this game, mainly because it needs to contain a half dozen levels ranging in setting from the deck of the ship to the hold to the mast.

The final boss of the area, a large Krow, is coincidentally seated in the Krow's Nest. When that's done, it's onward to Crocodile Cauldron.
6. Bonus levels are only accessible via special Bonus Barrels.

Answer: False

While most of the game's bonus levels are accessible via Bonus Barrels marked with an explosive 'Bonus' sign on them, some are also able to be reached by entering doorways or passages, some open and some which must be broken into by some means. Either way, there are seventy-five Kremcoins throughout the game, and most of them are obtained by playing through 'Find the Token', 'Collect the Stars', and 'Destroy the Enemies' mini-games.
7. To end a level, Diddy or Dixie must do what to the finishing point?

Answer: Jump on it

In the original "Donkey Kong Country", DK and Diddy could finish levels simply by heading out the obviously-marked exit point at the end of each course. In this game, however, the ending point is always signified by a target platform which, when jumped on, would end the level. Hit with enough force it would also reward the player with a displayed item which would change on a regular rotation. Somelevels could end with the Kongs winning a one-up balloon, some with a DK Hero Coin, etc.
8. Receiving K-O-N-G in every level will result in which reward?

Answer: An extra life

Just like in the original game, collecting K-O-N-G will add one to the total amount of lives you have. All four letters will be found over the course of the main track-- not in Bonus Barrel areas or other hidden pathways. In some instances, the letter G will only appear on the finishing platform while others will be in very hard-to-reach spots. Collecting them will not have any effect on your overall progress in the game.
9. Where would you be likely to find a Puftup?

Answer: Krem Quay

Puftup is an underwater enemy akin to a pufferfish, so the only possible level in which one could be fought would significantly narrow your answer options. To be fair, however, the only one of the four options to contain an underwater level would be Krem Quay, as it contains Glimmer's Galleon.

Some Puftups don't inflate, but most do; some will actually over-inflate, exploding and firing their spikes in four different directions. They can only be destroyed by Enguarde.
10. The final boss battle of the game is fought on a giant airship.

Answer: False

While Kaptain K. Rool is fought in the airship known as The Flying Krock (which flies above K. Rool's Keep), the lengthy battle is only one of two with the antagonist. After he's defeated, K. Rool will take up a post in Krocodile Kore, the volcano sitting in the center of The Lost World (accessed via Klubba's Kiosk) and you'll need to take one final fight against him there. Once that's done, the Kongs are safe...for now.
