Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What fighter in the "Dead or Alive" series made his debut in a beat'em up arcade game in the late 1980s?

Answer: Ryu Hayabusa

Ryu first appeared in "Ninja Gaiden" which became a popular video game series on its own. Bayman is a Russian commando and mercenary fighter appearing only in the "Dead or Alive" series. Jimmy Lee is one half of the popular duo in "Double Dragon", a beat-em up of the 1980s and Ken Masters is the best friend of a different Ryu, in the iconic "Street Fighter" series.
2. In "Project Justice" aka "Rival Schools 2" for the Dreamcast, students and teachers alike duke it out using techniques representing their field of expertise or sport they practice. Which of the following sports does not have a fighter representing it in some way in this game?

Answer: Hockey

Natsu Ayuhara is the star player in the Gorin High School volleyball team; Roy Bromwell is the quarterback of the Pacific High School football team and Shoma Sawamura plays for the baseball team of Gorin High School. There are also fighters representing swimming, tennis, and soccer.
3. What fighter in "Capcom vs SNK 2" (appears in all consoles) was introduced as a playable character in the 1993 beat'em up "Final Fight 2" for the SNES?

Answer: Maki Genryusai

She was one of three playable characters in "Final Fight 2", substituting Guy from the previous game (who appears in the "Street Fighter Alpha" series). Rolento is the boss of the Italy area in "Final Fight 2" and Eagle appears in the original "Street Fighter". Out of these four, Rody Birts is the only one that is not present in "Capcom vs SNK 2", appearing in "Art of Fighting 3" instead. Additionally, all these characters use similar weapons, with Maki using one tonfa, Rody using two tonfas, Rolento using a baton stick and Eagle using two Eskrima sticks.
4. What "Fantastic Four" character is a selectable fighter in "Marvel vs Capcom 2" (all consoles)?

Answer: Dr. Doom

Dr. Doom made his fighting-game debut in "Marvel Super Heroes" as a boss character, but only became playable after beating the game and entering a specific code. Though Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman appear in several video games as cameos or selectable characters, they have not appeared in a fighting game as of 2007.

However, the Human Torch fought alongside other superheroes in EA's "Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects".
5. Which of the following fighters does not resemble in looks or style the legendary martial artist Bruce Lee?

Answer: Lei Wulong

Marshall Law is the master of a dojo and a chef at different points in the "Tekken" series, while both Kim Dragon from "World Heroes" and Fei Long from the "Street Fighter" series are action movie stars. Lei Wulong from the "Tekken" series is modeled after martial artist Jackie Chan instead.
6. Which of the following characters from the "Virtua Fighter" series is a ninja?

Answer: Kage-Maru

Akira Yuki teaches at a Hakkyoku-Ken dojo; Aoi, Akira's childhood friend, is an Aikijutsu student and Taka-Arashi is a sumo fighter making his only appearance to date in "Virtua Fighter 3". Kage-Maru's fighting style is a variation of jujutsu, the "gentle art" of grappling, which was adapted by the samurais to engage opponents using weapons or unarmed and did not rely on strikes since most samurais wore some kind of armor.
7. What's the name of the character design that represents the evil side of Nakoruru from the "Samurai Shodown" series?

Answer: Rera

Instead of her pet hawk Mamahaha, Rera fights alongside her pet wolf Shikuru. Rimururu is Nakoruru's younger adopted sister and Rasetsumaru is a demon who looks like Haohmaru. The EX in EX-Nakoruru is for "extra", that is the exact same character with a slightly different moveset that you could purchase in the secret shop of some games such as "Capcom vs SNK Millenium Fight 2000".
8. Most fighting games have a very old man as one of the characters. Which of the following fighters does not belong to such an age group?

Answer: Wan Fu from the "Samurai Shodown" series

Wan Fu, appearing in three games of the "Samurai Shodown" series with three different weapons, might be a warrior king trying to unify China, but he's much younger than the Hell's Gate ancient guardian and fisherman Genbu no Okina, the "drunken master" Chin Gentsai or the bookstore owner Gen Fu. Wan Fu's quote after winning with a super move in the first "Samurai Shodown" was "I thought I was dead.

But I think I'm Cleopatra, too."
9. How did Zangief from the "Street Fighter" series acquired the scars he proudly wears?

Answer: Fighting bears

His "spinning piledriver" move is rumored to have been developed while he was caught in a cyclone while wrestling a bear. His nickname is "The Red Cyclone" after all.
10. What is the name by which Edward Falcon from the "Power Stone" series is known in Japan?

Answer: Fokker

He is named after the kind of Dutch airplane he pilots. He hails from Londo (a reference to London) and power changes into a sort of "Iron Man". Robert Tinkler is the Canadian actor that does his voice in the "Power Stone" anime.
