Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these companies cannot tune a Nissan Skyline GT-R?

Answer: HPA

HPA doesn't tune Japanese cars, period. They are a Canadian company specializing in German cars, particularly VW's.
2. You can acquire a Formula Gran Turismo before you reach 25% completion.

Answer: True

You can! All you need to do is buy one from someone else who has one! Sure, getting the money necessary would take AGES, but it's still possible! The other two ways to win a Formula Gran Turismo are by winning the Nurburgring 24hr endurance race, or by reaching 100% completion.
3. Everyone knows that "Gran Turismo" means 'great race', but in what language?

Answer: Spanish

"Gran Turismo" was originally going to be called just "Great Race", but the people in charge decided that that name was too boring, and put a foreign twist to it by Translating it into Spanish! It also means the same in Portugese, but it's more of a slang saying in Portugese than it is in Spanish.
4. Which of these cars is rear-wheel drive?

Answer: Honda NSX

The NSX is the rear-wheel drive, all the others are 4WD. The Suzuki Escudo has an incredible 981BHP when you first get it. It's not good at turning corners, though, so watch out!
5. How many laps does the Laguna Seca 200 mile endurance race have?

Answer: 90

If you pick an American car for this race, there's a good chance that you'll have an all American competition. You'll normally face things like a Saleen S7, a Shelby Series 1 Supercharged, a Ford GT and a Callaway C12 among others. The Saleen is easily the biggest threat out of these competitors.
6. What Japanese company revolutionized the rotary engine?

Answer: Mazda

Mazda was the first company to widely use the rotary engine with the 110S back in 1968. After that, the many breeds of RX-7 and RX-8 all started off using them, too.
7. What special prototype car can ONLY be driven on the Nurburgring?

Answer: Auto Union V16 Streamline

Waaaaaaaaay back in 1937, the people at Auto Union (which became Audi in the near future) created a monstrous prototype car built purely for racing on the Nurburgring. Like all other special cars, it can't be raced, and it's nearly impossible to turn if you go off course (for whatever reason). You can only use the Auto Union in Time Trial and Free Run on the Nurburgring.
8. What colors does a Mazda 787B Race Car come in (without buying a used one)?

Answer: Green and Orange

Green and Orange seems to be Mazda's thing. You can also get the Mazda RX-8 Race Car in Green and Orange only, but the RX-7 Race Car comes in a range of colors. Confusing...
9. What company did brothers John and Horace start?

Answer: Dodge

Dodge is the true meaning of American Power, whether it's the Ram or the Viper, they all ooze pure muscle! Sure, corners are a bit of a problem, but these were built more for drag racing. It's what American cars are best at in the racing world, with the 400+ BHP and mountains or torque in nearly every car!
10. What country would you need to go to in order to buy a Spyker C8 Laviolette?

Answer: Holland

The Spyker is a Dutch car, meaning it comes from Holland. It is distantly related to Mercedes-Benz. It started off when a Benz branch in Holland decided to start making their own cars.
11. What year will the Nike One be made, according to this game?

Answer: 2022

For some strange reason, Nike decided to create a futuristic car for "Gran Turismo 4". It has 8 gears, handles like a dream, and can beat cars with 200HP more than itself!
12. Where is the Cote d'Azur race track located?

Answer: Monaco, France

Although everyone thinks it's an Italian track, Cote d'Azur (also known as Monaco and the Mistral Coast) is actually located on France's south coast. It is most famous for the chaos it causes when Formula 1 cars are speeding through it.
13. You're about to start the Chamonix Snow Rally. which of these cars would be most suitable for you to use?

Answer: Subaru Impreza

The Subaru, being the only 4WD, is the only car that would make a decent performance on snow! All the others are rear-wheel drive, and are likely to just slide around everywhere.
14. They started off by tuning Jaguars, but now they've produced one of their own cars. What company are they?

Answer: Lister

The Lister storm V12 is monstrously powerful, and very rare. You obtain it by winning the Suzuka 1000km endurance Race. It's not the prettiest of machines, but it's one of England's most powerful cars!
15. In America, it's sold as the Shelby Cobra. What is it called in the UK?

Answer: AC 427

Pretty much the only difference between these two cars is the fact that you can buy the 427 in more than one color. You can only buy the Shelby Cobra in Blue with a White Stripe down the middle.
16. How many vehicles are there in "Gran Turismo 4" which were made before 1950?

Answer: 5

They are: The Benz Patent Motor Wagen, The Daimler Motor Carriage, The Ford Model T Tourer, The Auto Union V16 Streamlined and The Original VW Beetle. Apart from the Model T, all of these cars are German!
Just goes to show who's better at making cars...
17. Which of these songs will you not hear on "Gran Turismo 4"?

Answer: Feeder-'Just A Day'

Feeder-'Just a Day' was a song on "Gran Turismo 3". Feeder have done two more songs for "Gran Turismo 4", one of which is displayed above.
18. What do a Mini Cooper and a BMW 110i have in common?

Answer: They share car parts

A Mini Cooper is front wheel drive, so that's that one out the window. BMW produces BMW's, and Mini produces Minis, and of course they don't rhyme with asparagus!
19. Which of these will not be allowed in the Tsukuba 9hr Endurance Race?

Answer: Racing Tires

The only things you can't use one the Tsukuba 9hrs are special cars (like the Jay Leno Tank Car), and Racing Tires. You can use any non-special car you want, as long as it has Sports or Road Tires equipped.
20. What is the '5 Minute Club'?

Answer: A group of people who can race one lap of the Nurburgring in under 5 minutes

One lap of the Nurburgring in under 5 minutes is NOT easy. You need a top of the range Race Car (Toyota Minolta, Nissan R92CP, etc) equipped with Super Soft Racing Tires (R5's), and Tire Damage off. You'll also need the car with maximum BHP, and minimum weight. The easiest way to try this is in Arcade Mode.

Note: Personally, I'm off this amazing feat by 3 seconds. =(
21. Which car is the odd one out?

Answer: Subaru Impreza

The Subaru Impreza is the only one that you can't buy a replica of in the Tuner Manufacturer Village. You can buy a Mine's Lancer or Skyline, and you can buy an S2000 from Opera Performance, Spoon Sports or Mugen.
22. Why is the Lotus Carlton different from other Lotuses?

Answer: It has an FR drive train, while the others are MR

The Carlton is actually a lot HEAVIER than other lotuses. It isn't far more powerful than the rest, because the more recent Esprits can easily outperform it. A Lotus Carlton is only ugly on opinion. It's unfair to call it ugly when not everyone will agree!
23. What car do you win for getting all Golds on the Special License?

Answer: Ford Model T Tourer

'You can have it in any color, as long as it's black'. These were the words used for advertising it when it was first produced in the early 1900s. Since then, Ford has produced hundreds of different cars, establishing branches in America, Europe and Australia. Ford is one of the biggest car companies in the modern world.
24. I've just won the 'All Japan GT championship'. What car will I win?

Answer: Nissan Fairlady LM Race Car

In the 'All Japan GT Championship', you'll be racing cars viable for the JGTC (Japanese Grand Touring Championship). They are all very powerful and VERY shiny! You win the Nissan Fairlady LM Race Car for winning the ordinary 'Japan GT Championship', which is statistically a better prize than the Option Stream Z!
25. If I went to Belgium, what car would I be able to buy?

Answer: The Gillet Vertigo

The Chaparral 2D is Americas best racing car. All Hyundais are Korean, and Volvos are very Swedish. The Vertigo is the only Belgian car to exist on "Gran Tuismo 4". You could buy it on "Gran Turismo 3" as well, except it was in red rather than yellow.

...and there's the Chequered Flag. That's it! Race over!
