Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The campaign for this game begins on Earth.

Answer: True

The first full mission of the game, 'Sierra 117', marks the Master Chief's return to Earth after the events of the second "Halo" game during which he and the Arbiter defeated the rogue Brute leader, Tartarus, and the Prophet of Truth escaped defeat. Crash-landing in the jungles of Africa, the two of them fight the recently-arrived Covenant forces in an attempt to evacuate the area.

The following mission marks the first attempt to reclaim an overtaken UNSC base. These missions also mark the first instances in which Brutes fight on Earth.
2. This game introduces two new grenades to the series-- one is the Spike Grenade. What is the other?

Answer: Incendiary Grenade

Both new grenades come from the Brute arsenal. The Spike Grenade is Anti-personnel, by which it's meant to be used specifically on people. The spikes stick into the opponent (or a wall if need be) and explode shortly after, causing a great deal of damage.

The Incendiary Grenade is also put to great use-- it's quite effective against the Flood. This grenade, when detonated, explodes in a burst of fire, setting enemies ablaze. You can carry two of each as well as four of your typical Frag and Plasma Grenades.
3. This game allows for the use of equipment found throughout the levels. Which of these is the name for a protective dome deployed by both human and Brute forces?

Answer: Bubble Shield

The Bubble Shield is a useful implement first seen in use in the first playable level of the game. To pick it up, use the X button. When deployed, it will create a protective dome emanating from the beacon which will provide cover from weapons of any type provided the shots come from outside the barrier. Enemies can still cause damage with grenades tossed inside or from shots/hits suffered from within. Brutes have a tendency to use this as well, so tactics may need to be employed.

The player is also likely to use the Covenant stationary cover, better known as the Deployable Cover, later in the game.
4. Midway through the game, Master Chief and the Arbiter must gain access to a city known by what name?

Answer: Voi

A fair distance from the previously-decimated city of New Mombasa, a few levels mid-way through the game take the player(s) onward to Voi (specifically Tsaro Highway, The Storm, and Floodgate). In this sequence of events, the humans press through Covenant barricades en route, then reach anti-aircraft devices to bring down Truth's craft. During this, however, High Charity, loaded with Flood, crashes into Voi and a mission ensues in which Master Chief must level the area, destroying the Flood and preventing Earth from being wiped out.

After this, it's back into space you go!
5. What ultra-light vehicle is the smallest human transport in the game?

Answer: Mongoose

Until "Halo 3", players looking to ride human-made vehicles needed to look to the Warthog or the bulky Scorpion. Look no further! A smaller, ultra light all-terrain vehicle known as the Mongoose has made its way into the arsenal. Although only available in a handful of land-based stages of the game, this speedy, little craft is quite helpful.

Although it takes a driver up front, it's also capable of taking a single passenger riding in the back. Unlike the Ghost, in which the driver can fire plasma shots, the Mongoose does not allow its driver to shoot.
6. The Flood has also gotten stronger. Which of these types of Flood can transform into a more-powerful mutation?

Answer: Pure Form Flood

Although the Flood can be seen in human and Covenant forms, none are more awkwardly difficult to beat than the Pure Form Flood. This form will mutate into one of three different, stronger forms in battle. Fortunately, these forms of Flood really only appear in the latter half of the game, well into the campaign.

After High Charity crashes on Earth and Master Chief works his magic to annihilate any chance of spread, the Flood essentially plague the remainder of the levels as the Gravemind tries to proliferate and prevent the Halo from being launched.
7. What armored vehicle typically driven by Brutes would be regarded as the equivalent of the Covenant Ghost?

Answer: Chopper

Although Brutes also make use of Covenant vehicles such as Ghosts and Banshees, simply because they have access as rebels. Nevertheless, this game introduces new Brute-made technologies, usually made of slate-like metal, including vehicles. The Chopper is, for the most part, what it is-- a motorcycle-like transport which is speedy and strong.

The Brutes also introduce a larger, tank-like vehicle known as the Prowler, which has several guns and spots for passengers. Both are drivable by the player if they happen to either remove a driver or force their way in.
8. Who ultimately kills the Prophet of Truth?

Answer: The Arbiter

In the game's eighth mission, The Covenant, Master Chief and the Arbiter, with the assistance of the Gravemind-controlled Flood, head onward to The Ark in an attempt to stop the Prophet of Truth from remotely-activating the Halos and wiping out all life as we know it.

When the battle finally reaches the controls, the Arbiter will be the one to take the final swipe, ending the final Prophet's life for good and preventing the detonation. After this, the Gravemind will renege on its truce, attack everyone left standing, and continue its parasitic ways. Go figure.
9. The Portable Gravity Lift was designed by humans.

Answer: False

Another unique piece of equipment, the Portable Gravity Lift was designed by the Covenant, as were most other useful bonus items found throughout the campaign. This particular device allowed anyone who stepped overtop to be launched into the air. This could also affect grenades and other projectiles.

Other new equipment items included Power Drain devices, Trip Mines, Flares, and Auto-Turrets. These last ones, the turrets, were especially effective towards the end of the game for knocking out Flood with short blasts. Most of this new technology was originally created by Covenant or Brute forces and, on occasion, the Forerunners.
10. In the end of the game, Master Chief and the Arbiter have to face off against 343 Guilty Spark and flee the Halo. In what vehicle do they make their escape?

Answer: Warthog

In the final level of the game, 'Halo', the Master Chief and the Arbiter advance on the Control Room of the unfinished ring with 343 Guilty Spark leading the way. Unfortunately, the place is guarded by the Gravemind-controlled Flood forces looking to proliferate (rather than perish).

When the duo enters the control room, however, Guilty Spark kills Sergeant Major Johnson and attempts to protect the installation from its destruction. Master Chief, however, gains the upper hand and an escape must be made in Johnson's nearby Warthog. What follows is an escape across the unfinished installation to the Forward Unto Dawn.

The ship attempts to escape through the slipspace portal; The Arbiter makes it to Earth. Master Chief does not. He falls into a cryosleep, ready for the next mission.
