Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "inFamous 2", players take on the role of Cole MacGrath as he gains powers to face off against the Beast, making "good" or "evil" choices along the way. What are Cole's PRIMARY powers?

Answer: electricity

Cole learns of his destiny to fight the Beast in the original "inFamous" game. He gets the information from "Kessler", who is actually a future Cole from an alternate timeline where the Beast won. Cole is a "conduit", a rare person who gains powers from Ray Field energy.

During "inFamous 2," Cole chooses to use the Power Transfer Device with either Kuo or Nix, adding cryokenetic or pyrokinetic powers to his electric ones.
2. "inFamous 2" contains references to other video games. What PlayStation character's symbol appears on Cole's backpack?

Answer: Sly Cooper

The "Sly Cooper" franchise was started by Sucker Punch, the developer of "inFamous". The Sly Cooper patch is seen in several scenes where the camera shows the backpack close enough. The patch is also on the real backpack included in the Hero edition of the game. Some pre-order bonuses were weapon skins, including one that changes Cole's Amp weapon into Sly's cane.

The most obvious references to other video game titles are the names of the adult films playing at the cinemas, such as Assassin's Need (Love Too), Hey Low Reach, No Need For Speed, Epic Hickey, Little Big Unit, Call of Booty, Uncharted Love, and Solid Serpent: The Man: The Movie.
3. The original "inFamous" game took place in Empire City, a fictional analogue of New York. "inFamous 2" starts in Empire City, but then moves to what town?

Answer: New Marais

New Marais stands in for New Orleans, complete with a neighborhood destroyed by a recent flood.

"Marais" translates to "marsh" in French, which is appropriate for the swamp surrounding the town.
4. In "inFamous 2", Cole must collect blast cores, both to gain new powers and to activate the Ray Field Inhibitor to combat the Beast. How many blast cores does Cole need to collect?

Answer: seven

Using his electric powers to activate the blast cores grants Cole new powers. It also drains him, leaving him unconscious and vulnerable for a few hours. So after collecting a new blast core, Cole waits until he returns to Zeke before he activates it, so his friend can watch over him.
5. Background information in the game can be revealed when Cole finds messages and recordings from Dr. Sebastian Wolfe in "dead drops" around the city. How does Wolfe leave these messages?

Answer: carrier pigeons

Cole must use his blast powers to knock the pigeons out of the sky and can then retrieve the messages. Poor birds - they are constantly circling and never landing until Cole blasts them. There are 29 pigeons, and getting them will earn the player the "Behind the Curtain" bronze trophy (for 50% of the dead drops) and the "Well inFORMED" silver trophy (for 100%). Unretrieved dead drops appear as a bird icon on the mini-map.

John White used small satellite dishes for his dead drops in the original "inFamous".
6. Which of these characters does not work for the NSA, the National Security Agency?

Answer: Rosco Laroche

Rosco Laroche (his first name is mentioned during an in-game television broadcast) is a rebel leader fighting the Militia. After Cole saves Laroche's niece, the rebels help Cole, but they also ask for more help in return.

Laroche reveals that Flood Town used to be known as Bellevue. Sucker Punch, the developer of the game, is located in Bellevue, Washington.
7. The "Ice Gang" are private mercenaries from South Africa that were given cryokenetic powers. What is the name of their mercenary company?

Answer: Vermaak 88

"Vermaak" means "entertainment" in Afrikaans and Dutch.

During the game, some of the Ice Gang soldiers undergo further mutations, becoming Heavy Soldiers, then Crushers, and finally Titans.

In a series of "good" side missions, one of the Ice Gang soldiers helps Cole, but then needs to be killed. Completing this series of missions will get the player the "Frozen Asset" bronze trophy.
8. "inFamous 2" features "UGC", User Generated Content, where players have access to tools to make missions and can then upload them for others to play. What color are UGC missions on the map?

Answer: green

UGC missions are green, the main story missions are white, and side missions (to control territory) are yellow. "Evil" and "good" side missions are yellow with red or blue, respectively. The player can place a single purple waypoint on the map, which is a good way to get to a specific destination.
9. In the "good" ending of the game, Cole chooses to activate the Ray Field Inhibitor, which cures the plague but kills conduits, including himself. Not all of Cole's allies agree with this decision. Who must Cole fight in the good ending?

Answer: Kuo

The Ray Field Inhibitor activates around the globe, curing people all over the world. Unfortunately, thousands of undiscovered conduits die as a result. Kuo is scared of dying and combats Cole, but eventually comes to terms with what is necessary for the greater good.

Cole is hailed as the "patron saint of New Marais" for his sacrifice. As Zeke transports Cole's body home, a lightning bolt strikes the ship. Perhaps this is not the end of Cole's adventures.
10. In the "evil" ending of the game, Cole sides with the Beast, choosing to activate Conduits to save them from the plague in a process that kills nearby humans. This choice also forces him to kill many of his friends. Which of these characters does not die and actually survives the evil ending?

Answer: Kuo

Cole's friend Zeke Jedediah Dunbar betrayed him during the original "inFamous", but the two resolve their differences during the second game. Zeke is the one who created Cole's new melee weapon, the Amp.

Zeke eventually contracts the plague, so when Cole makes the evil choice to side with the Beast instead of trying to cure the plague, Zeke takes it personally. Cole must kill his friend to complete the evil ending.

Throughout most of the game, Kuo represents the "good" decision path and Nix represents the "evil" path, but for this last choice their roles are reversed.

As part of the evil ending, John transfers his powers to Cole. John dies and Cole becomes the Beast.
