Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Over the course of the NES games, Dr. Wily has exhibited mastery of cloning robots. Who does he clone in "Mega Man V"?

Answer: Protoman

In order to divert attention from himself, Dr. Wily clones Proto Man. At the final confrontation with Proto Man, the real Proto Man appears, revealing the Proto Man you have been fighting is only a mere clone. Confused yet? Probably.
2. In many ways, "Mega Man 9" is an amalgamation of earlier design. One such game play design is jumping on floating bubbles that rise ever upward toward spikes of doom. What level in "Mega Man 5" features these bubbles?

Answer: Wave Man

"Mega Man 9" is heavily inspired by the first two "Mega Man" titles. However, Capcom clearly lifted the bubbles idea from "Mega Man 5".
3. What's Dr. Wily's primary attack in his first form?

Answer: He tries smashing you with his UFO, and when he tries landing the floor pushes upward to meet the UFO

Dr. Wily has three attack forms in "Mega man 5". The second form he mans a giant skull tank, and the third he disappears and reappears. In "Mega Man 6" he also tries crushing you as well, though the floor does not thrust upward as in "Mega Man 5".
4. When you face Proto Man, he gets on shot on you before you have time to respond. How many bars of energy does Mega Man have left after this shot?

Answer: One bar

Proto Man blasts you with one shot. Then all of a sudden the real Proto Man shows up, blasts away the cloned Proto Man's facade to reveal a Dark Robot underneath. Proto Man restores your health, exits, and the fight begins anew.
5. On several of the NES titles, whoever designed the Robot Masters are credited in the game's end credits. Who designed Napalm Man?

Answer: Shinichirou Sek

Yukiko Mori designed Gravity Man. Hideyuki Monno designed Wave Man. Kenta Oonishi designed Stone Man. Katsunari Oguri designed Gyro Man. Tatsumi Saegusa designed Star Man. Toshiaki Sugiura designed Charge Man. Shinichirou Seki designed Napalm Man. Yuusuke Murata desinged Crystal Man.
6. In Proto Man's stage the first enemy you encounter is a minor floating robot that shoots pellets at you. The second enemy you encounter is a stationary beast that will pounce on you once you get close enough. What stage is the second enemy drawn from?

Answer: Napalm Man

The first major enemy you encounter in Proto Man's castle are those devilish tigers from Napalm Man's stage. The best way to fight them is to charge the Mega Buster and blast them with one super charged shot.
7. What colour is the final Dark Man that you must fight in Proto Man's castle?

Answer: Maroon

The first "Dark Man" robot you fight is green. The second is silver. The third is purple. The final one, who is disguised as Proto Man initially until the real Proto Man shows up and blows his cover, is maroon.
8. Each Robot Master is assigned a number, supposedly in the order in which Dr. Wily and Dr. Light created them. What's Napalm Man's number?

Answer: 39

Proto Man is 000, as he is a prototype. Mega Man is 001. The eight Robot Masters are in "Mega Man V" range from 32 to 40 (for example, Wave Man is 34).
9. In Issue 44 of Nintendo Power, two "Mega Man" titles were covered back to back. The second "Mega Man" game was "Mega Man V". The first title was one of the Game Boy titles, but which one?

Answer: Mega Man III

"Mega Man III" for the Game Boy takes four bosses from "Mega Man III" and four bosses from "Mega Man IV", then mixes up the stages a little bit. On the original Gameboy titles, only "Mega Man V" was an entirely original game, not based on any of the Nintendo titles.
10. In the gaming magazine Nintendo Power, Nintendo published monthly lists of the top games for each of their consoles, calling them the "Power Charts". What issue did "Mega Man V" made its debut within the Top 5 games for the NES?

Answer: Issue Forty Seven

"Mega Man V" made its debut in the Top 5 in Issue Forty Seven of Nintendo Power at the fourth spot on the list That month, "Tecmo Super Bowl", "Super Mario Bros. 3", and "The Legend of Zelda" were 1, 2, and 3 respectively. The highest "Mega Man V" ever got on the charts was number three, back to back in issues 50 and 51. "Mega Man V" appeared a total of eight times within the Top 5.
