"Mega Man 2" is considered by most "Mega Man" fans as the pinnacle of the series, and Capcom is well aware of that. They based "Mega Man 9" heavily on both "Mega Man" and "Mega Man 2", removing the slide and chargeable Mega Buster.

The Special Stage is largely a montage of all the mini-bosses from "Mega Man 9". While it is a regular stage, Mega Man will face in this order: the Flower Boss (best battled with the Magma Bazooka), the Face Boulder boss (best battled with the Hornet Blaster), the three Elephants from Concrete Man's Stage (best battled with the Mega Buster), the Magma Fire-Dragon (best battled with the Black Hole Bomb), and finally the three segments of the Shark Ship Boss.

The end boss is Fake Man, a police robot designed by Dr. Wily.

Apparently Dr. Light dismantled the Rush Jet since Mega Man hasn't needed it for a long time. After Mega Man defeats five robot masters Auto will build the Rush Jet. Roll first tests out the Rush Jet, going much too fast. Auto adjusts the speed and gives the item to Mega Man.

The plot of "Mega Man 9" is that eight robot masters that Dr. Light made have gone mad, and Dr. Light is making a bid for world domination. Dr. Wily runs an add on TV, saying Dr. Light is evil and asks for concerned citizens to send Dr. Wily money for a Swiss Bank Account so Dr. Wily can stop the evil designs of Dr. Light.

Strangely enough, unlike "Mega Man 4", "Mega Man 5", and "Mega Man 6", which also features a similar frame-job by Dr. Wily, there is no Dr. Light castle.

The elephants will attack Mega Man using balls which they toss across the screen, then using their snout they suck air in to draw the ball back.

The first elephant has a red ball. The second elephant has a green ball. The third elephant has a red ball. The first elephant is quite simple, as there is a ladder fragment Mega Man can cling to while he fires away at the elephant. The second elephant Mega Man must stay relatively close to as the elephant throws the ball upward. The third elephant rolls the ball on the ground which Mega Man must jump over. However, there are two pits of doom which Mega Man must dodge as well.

Capcom first introduced the idea of Mega Man clones in the very first "Mega Man" game for the NES back in 1987. They also appeared in "Mega Man 3". In "Mega Man 9", when Mega Man works in front of a black static screen, a carbon copy of him will appear trying to run you over. Once you defeat this shadowy Mega Man, the screen that duplicated that clone will not duplicate a second one, unless you scroll off the screen and return a second time.

The first stage in Dr. Wily's Castle famously has a segment in which Mega Man must deal with three Magma Beams. The first time the player encounters the screen it is very intimidating. The easiest way to get past the screen is to summon the Rush Coil IMMEDIATELY upon entering the screen and jumping to the middle of three ladders.

If Mega Man stands close enough to the Magma Beams, sparks will fly.

"Mega Man 9" features the return of the Yellow and Green Devils. More accurately, however, Mega Man must face the gelatinous blobs that are the remains of both Devils after they were defeated by Mega Man in previous titles.

Each Devil is comprised of twelve blocks. The red eye, which is the enemy's only vulnerability, always stays with the Green Devil.

"Mega Man 9" come out as a Wiiware title on September 22, 2008. Two "Mega Man" games were released at that point: "Mega Man" and "Mega Man 9". Capcom then released "Mega Man 3" three weeks later. Afterward, Capcom would not release another "Mega Man" title for the Virtual Console until April 19, 2010, when they published "Mega Man 4", almost two months after they published "Mega Man 10", the followup to "Mega Man 9".

The ending of "Mega Man 9" ends with Dr. Wily begging for Mega Man's forgiveness. Mega Man then tells Dr. Wily he wants to show Dr. Wily where he went wrong and calls in Rush to play a video. We then see little snapshots of Dr. Wily begging for forgiveness in "Mega Man 1".

Then Rush adds a small screen referencing "Mega Man 2", and so forth, until we see nine small images of Dr. Wily bowing at Mega Man's feet. The first time I saw the ending after beating "Mega Man 9" I cracked up. The ninth image is from "Mega Man and Bass". Each individual screen shot shows the preferred weapon Mega Man uses when battling Dr. Wily for its individual game.

For example, "Mega Man 1" Mega Man is clearly using Elec Man's weapon, and "Mega Man 2" he is using the Bubble Lead, etc.
