Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many hours does Link have at the start of the game before the Moon crashes down into Termina?

Answer: 72

"The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask" introduces us to a new time cycle. Link has three days before the Moon crashes into Termina. This is the only game in the "Zelda" series that has a time limit upon it. To return to the beginning of the three day cycle Link must play the Song of Time on the Ocarina of Time. When Link returns to the beginning of the three days, he loses all rupees and items (such as bombs and arrows), although he does retain specific dungeon items. Unless the individual dungeons are complete, all dungeon progress is lost as well when he travels back in time.

For extra challenge, there are players who are able to beat all four dungeons and the final boss in one three day cycle, although this requires the player to be very intimately acquainted with the game.
2. "Majora's Mask" is known as one of the darker, sadder titles in the "Zelda" series. It is also the first game where Link can kill an NPC (Non-Playable Character). Who is the NPC that Link can kill?

Answer: Sakon

Sakon appears both in "Ocarina of Time" and "Majora's Mask", although his role in "Ocarina of Time" is very limited. He is a thief. He hides his stolen goods in Sakon's Hideout, which is in the Ikana Canyon. This hideout appears in the Kafei and Anju sidequest, one of the lengthiest side-quests in the entire "Zelda" series.

Sakon steals a bomb bag from an old lady in West Clock Town. Link can obtain this stolen bomb bag by either hitting Sakon with his sword or detonating the bag using either the Hookshot, an arrow, or another bomb. When Link detonates the bag he kills Sakon.

Tingle, unfortunately, cannot be killed.
3. What mask must Link use to gain access to The Pirates' Fortress?

Answer: Zora Mask

Link must use Zora's Mask to gain access to Pirates' Fortress. Pirates' Fortress is on the Great Bay Coast. The Gerudo Pirates have stolen four of the seven Zora Eggs from Lulu, who is the lead singer of the band The Indigo-Go's. After laying seven eggs Lulu lost her voice. Link must regain the seven eggs so Lulu will regain her voice.

After Link recovers the seven eggs, Lulu regains her voice and teaches Link the song "New Wave Bossa Nova". By playing this melody, a turtle will come and take Zora Link to the Great Bay Temple, which is the third dungeon in "Majora's Mask".
4. What is the only dungeon that requires Link to use all four of his forms: Hylian, Goron, Zora, and Deku?

Answer: Stone Tower Temple

Stone Tower Temple is unique in not only must Link use all four of his forms, but also that the Temple does not conform thematically to its outside environment. Ikana Canyon, where Stone Tower Temple is located, is undergoing a dark age due to undead monsters and other demons haunting the landscape. However, Stone Thrower Temple does not reflect this darkness at all.
5. What item must Link have to gain access to the Secret Shrine?

Answer: Light Arrow

The Secret Shrine is located in Ikano Canyon, and can only be entered by shining light upon the sun image that appears above the shrine's entrance. The shrine contains four rooms: each room has a miniboss from different temples. Once he defeats these mini-bosses Link gets a piece of heart.
6. Who must you interact with to get the Fierce Deity's Mask?

Answer: The Four Children of the Moon

On the Surface of the Moon, Link finds himself in a meadow with a tree in the center. There are five children surrounding the tree. Four are running around with different masks, and one child, wearing Majora's Mask, is seated. Provided you have all twenty tree masks, each of the four moon children will send you to a mini-dungeon which is based off the four main temples of "Majora's Mask". Provided you defeat these four optional side dungeons, the Children of the Moon will give Link the Fierce Deity's Mask.

This mask can only be used during boss battles, and when Link gets the mask he is told that this mask is just as evil as Majora's Mask.
7. Neither Ganon nor Princess Zelda appears in-game in "Majora's Mask".

Answer: False

Ganon does not appear in "Majora's Mask". Princess Zelda does appear in "Majora's Mask", but only in a flashback sequence.

"Majora's Mask" is also the second game in the series (going by release date, not in-game chronology) to take place outside of Hyrule.
8. How much does Chateau Romani cost?

Answer: 200 Rupees

Chateau Romani is a very expensive milk manufactured by Romani Ranch's cattle. This milk is found only in "Majora's Mask:, and is sold by the Milk Bar. The milk refills Link's magic meter and gives him unlimited magic during the duration of the current three day cycle.

The milk is especially useful during the the final battle of the game, as the player can use without reserve sword beam of the Fierce Deity's Mask.
9. What area must Link show the Garo's Mask to the Poe Salesman to gain access too?

Answer: Ikana Canyon

The entrance to Ikana Canyon is blocked by a fence which Link must jump over using Epona. To gain access to the inner parts of the canyon, Link must show Garo's Mask to the Poe salesman. After Poe sees the mask, he will create a tree which Link can hookshot to continue deeper into the canyon. Ikana Canyon has more boss battles than any other area in the game.
10. According to dialogue in "Majora's Mask", Nintendo implies that the Skull Kid is not the same character that appears in "Ocarina of Time".

Answer: False

During "Majora's Mask" end sequence, The Skull Kid makes a comment to Link that he has the smells the same as a fairy kid who taught him a song in the Lost Woods. In "Ocarina of Time" Link plays Saria's Song to the Skull Kid who gives him a piece of heart. He also is the same character that Link sells the Skull Mask too.
