Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What must you obtain and bring to an injured Koume in the Woods of Mystery?

Answer: Red Potion

Koume is a witch who works as a guide for the Swamp Boat Tour (which you take to travel to the Deku Palace). Sometimes she wanders the Woods of Mystery for fun, but one day she crosses the path of the Skull Kid, a crazy imp who's innocence has been warped into evil by wearing the Majora's Mask.

The Skull Kid injures Koume and leaves her in the woods. If you follow a monkey through the woods you will come across Koume, desperately asking for a red potion. Link must exit the Woods of Mystery to a little store standing on a tower. Upon entering the store, he meets Kotake and informs her of her sister's injury. Kotake gives Link a red potion (you also earn a new bottle!) in which he must take to Koume. Entering the woods again and following the maze that leads to Koume, Link talks to the injured witch, who impolitely asks for the red potion.

After drinking, she "feels the energy flow", soon returning to the Swamp Boat Office and offering you a ride on a boat for free.
2. What mask are you able to obtain from Guru-Guru, the music-loving fellow?

Answer: Bremen Mask

You can find Guru-Guru sitting happily on a bench at the Laundry Pool on any night of the three given days (...ironic?). He plays a never-ending loop of the "Song of Storms" (which you are able to learn in "Ocarina of Time", "Majora's Mask's" predecessor).

After speaking to him, he informs you that he was once part of an animal troupe and was unhappy that the leader of the group was a dog (who was able to boss around any animal he liked). He gives Link the Bremen Mask as an award for listening to his story and pleading his guilt. If you have received the Bomber's Notebook from the children wandering around Clock Town, you are also awarded a stamp to put in your notebook!
3. There are many ways you are able to defeat Odolwa. Which is NOT one of them?

Answer: Waiting until Odolwa drops his guard and shooting him with bomb-arrows

Unfortunately, bomb arrows don't exist in "Majora's Mask". Odolwa is the boss of the Woodfall Temple. This warrior chants ritualistic phrases during combat. It's easiest to shoot Odolwa with arrows after waiting for him to spawn enemies from the roof of the arena and/or waiting for him to start dancing. Typically, Odolwa uses a ring of fire to trap his victims (this is also a good time to try and shoot the warrior with arrows, as there aren't any enemies getting in your way).

After Odolwa kneels in pain prior to shooting him with arrows or blasting him with bombs, Link is able to run up to the boss and slash at his body.

After defeating the boss, Link obtains Odolwa's Remains, the knowledge behind the "Oath to Order", and a heart container.
4. Which item must you use to destroy a large boulder that blocks the path to the Romani Ranch?

Answer: Powder Keg

Goron Link is able to buy powder kegs from Medigoron (a giant Goron) who lives deep in Mountain Village. Powder kegs are large, timed bombs that you are able to use to blow up large objects that a regular bomb isn't able to penetrate. Powder keg's are also used in the eastern end of Termina within the Ikana Castle. Only Goron Link is able to carry these large kegs around, as well as Goron Link being the only form in which he can buy them (although, with a special certificate you can obtain, Link is able to buy powder kegs in Clock Town for only 50 rupees).
5. What is the name of the tiny character who is protecting her father from Gibdos?

Answer: Pamela

Pamela is a little girl who lives with her father in a small house in Ikana Canyon. She used to research ghosts and ghouls around the area along with her father. Unfortunately, her father wandered to a nearby shrine and became cursed (slowly transforming her father into a Gibdo). Frightened, Pamela shoved her father in a closet and waited for help to come, trying to protect him from further harm.

The first time Link knocks on the door to Pamela's house, she doesn't answer thinking he's a Gibdo trying to break in and steal her father. Link is then able to place a bomb right outside the door to the house, forcing Pamela to come outside to investigate (unfortunately, this is only possible after water is restored to Ikana; Link must clear the curse of the Spring Water Cave by cleansing the dark soul of Sharp).

After entering her house, Link is able to cure Pamela's father's curse, returning him to his original state. In the end credits, Pamela is seen hugging her father.
6. How do you earn the Goron Mask?

Answer: Play the "Song of Healing" to a dead Goron

When Link first enters Mountain Village, he discovers that it's an icy, barren wasteland with a few Gorons and snowballs littered around. If you cross a little pond by jumping on floating icebergs near the Owl Statue, you will arrive at a seemingly pointless wall. If you equip your Lens of Truth (which you found in a treasure chest inside a floating shrine in Goron Village) then a maze of bars will come to life. If you take the correct pathway of bars, you will arrive at the top of a cliff where two Gorons stand shivering about (one of which is frozen in ice). If you enter the tavern beside the two Gorons you will have entered the Goron Graveyard, appearing as seemingly pointless as the wall of invisible bars.

However, if you equip your Lens of Truth, you'll find a ghoulish Goron floating near the central grave. If you speak to him (revealing himself to be Darmani the Third) and play the "Song of Healing", he will reward you with the Goron Mask.

Another prize is hidden in this graveyard, so don't leave yet! If you transform into a Goron by equipping the Goron Mask and if you pull back the gravestone where Darmani the Third "lives", the graveyard will fill with hot springwater.
7. What is the name of the festival taking place in Clock Town?

Answer: Carnival of Time

The Carnival of Time takes place every year in Clock Town when the moon crosses paths with the sun, creating a solar eclipse. The carnival takes place at 12:00 o'clock after dark on the Final Day. Many foreigners and tourists come visit Clock Town for the carnival, rendering the Stock Pot Inn very busy. Link must travel back through time if the Carnival of Time nears too close and his quests aren't finished. If the Four Giants are freed from their respective areas of Termina (Woodfall, Snowhead, Great Bay and Ikana Canyon) before the Carnival of Time takes place, they are able to prevent the moon from crashing down onto Clock Town. Link must then confront Majora's Mask inside the moon itself, dueling with the evil within for the last time.
8. How are you able to earn a heart piece at the west Clock Town bank?

Answer: Save up to 5,000 rupees

The banker monitors the bank within the valley of west Clock Town. If he remembers you (by giving him your name) then you are able to deposit and/or withdraw rupees from your bank account. If you deposit 200 rupees (it doesn't matter whether it's deposited all at once or spread throughout the game) then he will reward you with the Adult's Wallet.

However, if you manage to proceed through the game far enough as to be able to save up to 5,000 rupees, then the banker will reward you with a Piece of Heart as interest.
9. Which temple requires you to bust your way through a large pillar?

Answer: Snowhead Temple

The central pillar located in the Snowhead Temple definitely makes the dungeon more tricky than any other in my opinion. Link will have to transform into Goron Link a numerous amount of times, ground-pounding switches (located on the first floor and the basement) to change the height of the central pillar.

In order to navigate some floors that otherwise cannot be reached because the pillar is either in the way or is too far below, Goron Link will have to find a floor that leads to a pair of icy pillar-slots and he will have to punch the slots out from underneath the pillar, making some inaccessible rooms... accessible. If Goron Link otherwise changes the pillar's height the way he doesn't want it to (punching too many icicle-slots or too little) he will either have to find his way to the switch in the basement and ground-pound it as a Goron, or he will have to navigate the switch on the first floor and ground-pound it.
10. How many fairies can you collect in each temple?

Answer: Fifteen

All four of the Great Fairies had their souls split into fifteen segments when the skull kid came across them. Their fragments are distributed around each of their temples respectively, and Link must find all fifteen fairies from each temple in order to restore the Great Fairies to their original states.

The fairies can be found behind fake walls, inside treasure chests (typically after you defeat all the enemies in a room), inside floating bubbles, and they sometimes appear after you defeat an enemy.

Although some fairies are hard to reach, Link can equip the Great Fairy's Mask to attract the fairies (only if they're freed from a bubble or a treasure chest). After returning all fragments to the Great Fairy (who lives nearby the temple you're conquering) she will reward you with either magic power or an item-enhancer.
11. What is the Couple's Mask's ability?

Answer: Nothing, really

You can earn the Couple's Mask after you merge Anju and Kafei's love into one. This side-quest is arguably one of the longest spanning quests of the game (lasting all three days to complete). Link will have to follow a strict schedule and will have to travel long distances for the quest to take place. If Link manages to win the Sun Mask through a tricky race of mazes and puzzles at Sakon's Hideout, Kafei will take the mask and merge it with Anju's Moon Mask (unused throughout the game), therefore creating the Couple's Mask.

This mask resembles the love between Anju and Kafei, and is fairly useless after you win it.
12. What unfortunate thing happened to Kafei, the little boy with the purple hair?

Answer: He was turned into a child by an imp

Although it seems true, the Couple's Mask was not stolen from Kafei. All Kafei tells us is that his "wedding ceremony" mask was stolen from him. This may imply that he's talking about the Couple's Mask, but the Couple's Mask is only created after the Sun and Moon Masks are merged to one.

In fact, when Link travels to Ikana if he chooses to help bring Anju and Kafei together, he will see Kafei following Sakon (a thief who had previously stolen Kafei's mask), trying to get his own Sun Mask back.
13. What do you need fend off from Romani's Barn if you choose to earn Romani's Mask?

Answer: Aliens

When Link first meets Romani on the first day, she asks if he is able to fend of aliens that keep returning to the ranch to abduct cows. If Link chooses to do so, he will have to meet Romani at 2am that night. When the aliens arrive to abduct cattle, Link will have to continuously shoot them with arrows until morning comes, keeping them far from the barn. If he succeeds and the aliens disappear, Link can talk to Romani's older sister, Cremia, who will be delivering milk to Clock Town later that evening. If he decides to help, Link will be meeting her in a carriage at 6pm on the second day (near the barn). Discovering that the Milk Road is blocked by a large boulder, Cremia has to take a riskier path to Clock Town, resulting in Link fending off thieves who try to steal Cremia's milk bottles. If Link succeeds by shooting the thieves with arrows, Cremia will be able to deliver the milk safely to Clock Town.

She will reward you with Romani's Mask, a memento that looks like the head of a cow.

This mask gives Link access to the Milk Bar located in eastern Clock Town.
14. What enemy wanders around Southern Termina only at night?

Answer: Blue bubble(s)

Blue bubbles are irritating enemies that wander around southern Termina at night. Link can find them floating nearby a large log (big enough to walk through). Real bombchus wander around Ikana's entrance, eenos slither about near Snowhead's entrance at night (although during the day, eenos are replaced by dodongos), and stalchilds aren't found in Termina field.
15. "You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?" Which character says this famous quote?

Answer: Happy Mask Salesman

"Giggle!" The Happy Mask Salesman is found inside Clock Town's central clock tower. After Link is transformed into a Deku scrub near the beginning of the game, he will encounter the Happy Mask Salesman watching him enter Clock Town for the first time. "You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?" Says he, giggling at Link's misfortune.

This salesman informs Link that an imp stole one of his most valued possessions... the Majora's Mask. If he doesn't receive the mask before the Final Day ends, then the moon will come crashing down on Clock Town and Termina will be doomed.

There will be more "Zelda" quizzes soon to come!
