Electronic Arts started the "Need for Speed" games in 1994. Since that time the "Need for Speed" games have become one of the very top sellers in the video game industry. In Japan, the games have been released under the name "Over Drivin".

There is no drag racing in the "Shift" edition. It does have all the other races listed. It has five racing levels that increase in track difficulty and opponent skills. There are also no police chases in this edition.

This is a game that has no cheats or secret codes available. There are no code books you can buy to get further information. You must learn everything all by yourself. There are no shortcuts on the tracks either. If you try and take shortcuts you will be eliminated after two warnings.
