Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of the following tactics do the police NOT use against you?

Answer: shooting at your tires

The PIT maneuver, where a police car tags your vehicle, really starts going in heat level 3, as well as the SUVs, which will occasionally try to ram you (Speedbreaker works wonders here). Spike strips debut in heat level 4 and can sometimes sneak up on you, but you can usually hear a dispatcher announce they're coming. Police will also try to box you in and use roadblocks to stop your progress.

They never shoot at your tires. The developers of this game actually interviewed people with the Los Angeles Police Department to further understand what kinds of tactics are used during real police chases in order to make the game as realistic as possible.
2. During what heat level of police pursuits does the helicopter make its debut?

Answer: four

Once you reach heat level 4, a helicopter will, more often than not, start to follow you for a few minutes, then it will run out of gas. Once you reach heat level 5, the helicopter will sometimes dive at you and try to force you off the road. All things considered, the helicopter should be the least of your worries unless you're ready to evade the pursuit.
3. What is the maximum number of different infractions you can have in one police pursuit?

Answer: eight

The rap sheet record is 7, so you can tie it or get all 8 to become number one. The infractions are as follows: driving off the roadway, ramming a police vehicle, damage to property, hit and run, resisting arrest, speeding, excessive speeding, and reckless driving.

The officer must see the infraction for it to count. Sometimes you have to hit a car more than once for the hit and run infraction to actually count.
4. What type of vehicle is NOT used during the Challenge Series?

Answer: bus

The pickup truck is used in Challenge Number 42 and you must dodge six roadblocks (not fun to do with the truck). The minivan is used in Challenge Number 43 and you must go through the tollbooths in under 4:30. The cement mixer is used in Challenge Number 50 and you must obtain a bounty of 100,000.

There are buses in the game, but none that you can drive. Just imagine how unstoppable you'd be if you were allowed to drive a bus. It would be just like the movie "Speed."
5. The last challenge in the Challenge Series, number 68, sees you having to last a half an hour in a police pursuit, and then evade it. What car do you drive in this challenge?

Answer: Lamborghini Gallardo

Although you don't have the opportunity to choose your own car for this or any other challenge in the Challenge Series, the Gallardo is a great car to have for this 30-minute pursuit. What it lacks in handling it makes up for with pure speed and acceleration.

This can be a tough pursuit and it really doesn't feel good when you have about two minutes to go and get busted (trust me, I know).
6. In Career Mode, to become number one on the rap sheet for time spent in a single pursuit, what time do you have to beat?

Answer: 30 minutes

Luckily, it's only 30 minutes. You have to do this twice in the game; once for the rap sheet and once for the final challenge in the Challenge Series. My tip: keep the pursuit on the interstate/freeway for the entire time and then head for the bus station. If you have to, drive around in free roam mode first to plan your route from the interstate to the bus station (there are a couple ways to go). Assuming there is no helicopter on your tail, you can hide out in the bus station's top level and usually evade the police, no matter what heat level it is.
7. Without using an extra impound strike marker, how many impound strikes can one car receive before it's taken away for good?

Answer: three

If you're new to this game, you may find yourself getting busted quite a bit. If you're busted three times with one car, that car is impounded for good. This is why you always want to have at least one extra car in your safe house. If you run out of cars, the game is over. You can earn an extra impound strike by selecting a marker after defeating a Blacklist racer, and can place up to two extra strikes on any given car.
8. Which can NOT be won by picking markers after you defeat a Blacklist racer?

Answer: free driving lessons

The pink slip to the Blacklist racer's car basically gives you their car. If you can obtain the Lamborghini Gallardo driven by "Ming" or the Corvette C6 driven by "Webster," you're pretty much set for the rest of the game. The ability to get out of jail free is exactly what it says. If you use the marker, it's the same as if the pursuit you got busted on never happened. You don't get free driving lessons from anybody.

The best driving lessons you'll get for this game can be found in the game's instruction manual.
9. When upgrading your car in Career Mode, you should spend as much money as you can making the car look intimidating.

Answer: False

This is absolutely false. Sure, vinyls are nice, and custom speedometers may appeal to some people, but they aren't going to help you win races. You need to dump as much money as you can into the car's performance. When you win the game and have millions of dollars to play with, then you can upgrade the car's look. I'm not saying you can't buy some cool designs for the car early in the game, but make sure you get the performance upgrades first.
10. How many Blacklist racers are female?

Answer: three

The gals in question are Isabel "Izzy" Diaz, Jade "Jewels" Barrett, and Kira "Kaze" Nakazato. The drag race against "Jewels" is considered one of the hardest races in the game. It takes a lot of practice and some well-timed use of the Speedbreaker feature to defeat her. Don't give up!
11. Which Blacklist racer drives the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII?

Answer: Eugene "Earl" James

The Lancer Evolution VIII has pretty good handling and is driven by "Earl," who is #9 on the Blacklist. The last race against "Earl," a sprint race, is difficult. Sometimes he'll even wreck and be behind you by about 20 seconds, but he miraculously always finds his way back to you. The last stretch of the race, involving many turns, is where you need to overtake him.
12. How much bounty do you need to face Hector "Ming" Domingo?

Answer: 2,300,000

That's quite a bit of bounty to obtain, but nothing compared to the 10,000,000 you'll need to face "Razor." Bounty is obtained during police pursuits and steadily increases the longer you're out there and the higher your heat level is. You can also obtain bounty by immobilizing police vehicles. "Ming" drives the Lamborghini Gallardo, one of the fastest and best cars in the game. You should make every effort to win the pink slip to this car after you beat "Ming." It's almost worth restarting the game and racing him again if you don't get it.
13. In the information for each Blacklist racer, a strength is given depending on what they specialize in (type of race, cost to state, and so on). What is the strength of "Razor?"

Answer: everything

Technically, all of these would be right, but it actually says "everything" next to his strength. "Razor" isn't impossible to defeat despite this. None of the races against him are impossible, but there are one or two that take a little practice.
14. Near the end of the game, you must race "Razor" in five different races. What type of race do you NOT race him in?

Answer: Lap Knockout

A speedtrap race features various cameras that you must drive through as fast as you can. Whoever has the highest total speed through all of the cameras wins, but once the first person crosses the finish line, the other racers start losing points. A drag race is a short race that works with manual transmission and deals with some often heavy traffic. Circuits are basic 2, 3, or 4-lap races.

A Lap Knockout race features four racers and three laps, with the person in last place being eliminated from the race after each lap. Seeing as it is just "Razor" and you, a Lap Knockout race would be impossible.
15. After you defeat "Razor," you must avoid one final pursuit. How long do you have to avoid the police for before Mia calls you and tells you how to escape?

Answer: 5 minutes

This will be the longest five minutes of your life. This pursuit takes place in heat level 6. You will have virtually no breathing room when you start and will have to employ all tactics that you can to keep them off of you. After five minutes, Mia will call you and say to get to the old bridge. If you're already near the bridge after five minutes, there's sometimes a glitch where she won't call you until you're a certain distance away from the bridge.

This bridge is just up the highway from the donut shop and is otherwise blocked off up until this point in the game. Once you fly across the unfinished bridge, you win!
