The ice maverick is called Frost Walrus in this game. He gives X the Frost Tower, which surrounds him in a shield of ice. It is very easy to use this weapon against Jet Stingray, causing him to go into a specific movement loop. Frost Walrus gives Zero the Hyouretsuzan, a downwards ice-based attack.

The double-jump ability can be very useful in this game. Zero can also obtain a mid-air dash from Jet Stingray. They are both useful in different situations, and neither is perfect for every situation, you should use both. Split Mushroom gives X the Soul Body Weapon.

Whether you are using X or Zero, Magma Dragoon's weapon is the one that can easily defeat Reaper Sigma. In X's case, its the Rising Fire, and in Zero's case, its the Ryuenjin, or Dragon Flame Blade.

Zero ends up fighting and killing Iris, and then screaming "What am I fighting for?!" which led to a meme. Zero doesn't fight X until the next game, "Megaman X5". He fights Colonel at the halfway point of the game, and the General is fought in the second stage of the Final Weapon area.

The Bio Laboratory is Split Mushroom's stage, and it only contains a heart tank in it. Cyberspace contains a heart tank, a life sub-tank, and X's helmet capsule. The Marine Base contains a heart tank, and a life sub-tank as well. The Snow Base has not just a heart tank, but also the only weapon sub-tank and the EX tank.

The EX tank doubles the amount of lives you start with when you continue.

Web Spider controls the lightning element in this game. He gives X the lightning web, which not only can be used as a weapon, but can also be used to climb up spiked walls.

Double appears in the beginning of the game, calling himself a rookie maverick hunter who was assigned to help X. However, at this point in the game, he reveals himself to be a double agent and ends up fighting and getting defeated by X.
