Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the introduction film, what three weapon types do the hunters have?

Answer: A lance, a bow and a longsword

We see them all at the beginning before our long swordsman sets out to get the quartz ore, and before the Tigerex lands. The bowman has Genprey armor, the lancer has Rathalos armor, and the long swordsman has Mafumofu armor.
2. What creature does the weapon chain "Raven" and then "Wolf" come from?

Answer: Garuga

The Garuga in this game only has one level, the elder quest. This is fortunate because a player can acquire all the necessary Garuga material for the armor, and as long as they have enough armor spheres, can upgrade to a fairly strong level before the G-quests.
3. What terrifying creature is known as "The Tyrant of Fire"?

Answer: Akantor

The Akantor is actually not so hard if you go with friends who have flash bombs. The Akantor stays flashed for about five seconds, or enough time to get a single charge from a great sword in, plus he doesn't move while flashed either. A huge advantage! His weakness is electricity and dragon.
4. Kelbi can attack you.

Answer: True

While the Kelbi do not intentionally run after a hunter, if you stand in front of them, they will sometimes ram you with their horns. They will usually do this whether a player stands in front of them or not; just watch them.
5. What is the name of the character you talk to if you want some treasures for pokke points at your farm?

Answer: Trenya

Trenya is a cat that travels to each of the common landscapes to bring you wonderful goodies, but he does have a bit of a demanding price. In the gallery, though, if you watch the credits (Proof of a Hero) you can see what happens to Trenya on several of his adventures, like being carried off by a Yian Kut-Ku, or being at the business end of an angry Congalala.
6. What is the main way a Khezu detects prey?

Answer: By smell

While the Khezu is blind, it can easily detect the location of a hunter and will use this knowledge to its advantage. When a hunter is directly beneath him, he will use a body shock, however if you have a great sword and are roughly half a sword's length from the end of his tail, begin a charge at this distance. You will have enough time if you start when he does.

A full charge will usually knock him off balance and he will backpedal towards you. Hmmm...a shock trap might be useful here.
7. How is a Gravios diet different from other wyverns?

Answer: They eat rocks

All the wyverns have to eat and although Gravios can live in the lava of the volcanoes evidence of them drinking it has not yet been proven. Check out the video "Volcanic Leader". Very munchy and crunchy.
8. Which book does the lady at the village market NOT sell?

Answer: Fatalis

The books that she sells are all creatures that you will encounter in the elder quest missions, hence the reason why there is no Fatalis or Akantor info from her. These books can only be found from the sales lady at the Guild counter and even she doesn't believe in them.
9. How do you make a lightning rod?

Answer: Burst Arrowana and Thunderbug

Kinda a strange combination, but very useful in the rain; especially when facing the Garuga or a swampy Gravios. Besides the Burst Arrowana and Thunderbug, the only other real combo is the Genprey Fang and Trap Tool, this creates a shock trap. Whenever going on a quest that will take more than 15 minutes I would recommend taking a shock trap, two genprey fangs and two trap tools in addition to whatever else you're taking. Oh, and it would be best to take book of combos 1 & 2 as well.
10. What is the only combination of food specialty not available for the skills of hired cats?

Answer: Milk and Drink

This skill is not available as it would create too high a percentage of skill activation when ordering Kirin Cheese and Goldenfish Brew from the 5-cat menu. Kirin Cheese and Goldenfish Brew give the player full stats on Stamina and Health, but if you want power and can take care of stats with an Ancient Potion then go with Demonshroom and Dragon Head.

This will increase your health by +40 and attack by 24 pts for great sword, 11 pts for lance and so on, it changes for each weapon class. Afterwards, in battle you can also take a power seed and increase your attack by double the points of the meal (24=48; 11=22, etc) that will last for about 3-5 minutes.
