Ocarina of Time Deku Tree and Dodongo's Cavern Quiz

Answer: Fairy Slingshot

The Fairy Slingshot is found in an isolated room off the second floor of the Great Deku Tree's main room. You use deku seeds to shoot, and you can only hold 30 at one time at first. If you get three bull's-eyes in a row on the target in the room to the right in the Lost Woods you can hold 40, and to get 50, you must shoot every target in the archery game at Hyrule Market. Sadly, there is nothing at all that is INTERESTING about this item so I will end this boring tid-bit of info.

Answer: Bomb Bag

Once again, bombs are not too interesting. Sure, they blow things up, and if you get a big kick out of that, then bombs might be your "cup of tea" (I hate that expression). However, aside from that, getting the bomb bag is not too exciting. Basically, the only noteworthy fact about it is that it is made from a Dodongo's stomach. Isn't that a little cruel to the Dodongo? Then again, they do shoot fire at you. Never mind, make all the bomb bags you want.

Answer: Darunia

You've just got to love Darunia. He's kinda' chubby and a little frightening, but aside from is appearance, he's really a sweet guy. But forget about all this nice stuff, this guy's down with his bad, bad self! Let him get jiggy wid it by playing Saria's Song on your ocarina. Just watch him start a new dance craze while yelling out totally wicked catch phrases like, "Hothothot!" When you beat Dodongo's Cavern, you and the friendly Goron become "sworn brothers" (?) and in the Chamber of Sages, after you beat the Fire Temple, Darunia and you become "real brothers" (can't you see the family resemblance)! And on the topic of "brothers" all the Gorons also call Darunia "Big Brother" (if you've read "1984" [by Orwell] you'd find this a little disturbing, but if you haven't, you might as well not have read this sentence at all).

Answer: Mido

Mido is not very nice. He guards the passage to the Great Deku Tree and badmouths Link. Once, he teases you about your lack of a fairy. He also REFUSES to let you see the Deku Tree without a shield and sword. But I know the horrible sad truth. The Great and Powerful Mido is jealous.

He reveals his secret when you go up to him with the Deku Shield and Kokiri Sword. He says something like, "Darn! How'd you get to be the favorite of Saria and the Great Deku Tree!" I think he likes Saria. OOH! Mido's got a crush! Hahahahaha!

Answer: King Dodongo

King Dodongo is the Infernal Dinosaur (bum bum bum!). When I fought this giant reptile, I found him fairly simple (once I figured out the secret). All you need to do to beat him is throw a bomb into his mouth when he opens it (before he breathes fire if you were wondering about that) and slash him with your sword once the bomb explodes and he turns red. I find King Dodongo stupid in fact.

As you battle him, you see a pattern that is like a suicide mission for him. I'm sure he's supposed to be easy, but his style of battle is just plain dumb (how many ways can I say the same thing!).

When he opens his mouth, you bomb him. When you bomb him, he rolls into the wall and opens his mouth to roast you, but then you bomb him and he rolls into the wall again... Anyway, I think he could have been a little harder.

Answer: Bomb Flower

You must first get the Goron Bracelet before you can use bomb flowers. To get it, you must play "Saria's Song" for Darunia (the Goron king). Then, as I mentioned in question 3 interesting info, he performs his happy little jig and rewards you with the Goron Bracelet! And this amazing bracelet lets you pick up the Bomb Flowers and throw them around and explode things. One Piece of Heart you can get using this nifty bracelet is right outside Goron City (on Death Mountain). Near the entrance is a Bomb Flower blocking off a ledge blocked off by a fence. Do a back flip over the fence and you conveniently land on top of the entrance to Dodongo's Cavern where a Piece of Heart is also conveniently located.

Answer: Saria

Saria is the strange girl with green hair that you meet at the beginning of the game outside of Link's tree home. She gives you this lovely instrument on the bridge between Hyrule Field and Kokiri Forest when you first go there. A list of songs you can play is:
"Saria's Song"- lets you get vague hints as to what you do next from Saria (and makes Navi bug you to call her)
"Zelda's Lullaby"- makes "special" things happen if you play it while on a Triforce Symbol
"Epona's Song"(all these songs belong to someone) - play it to call Epona (she takes the most direct path and sometimes gets stuck on rocks) or get milk from a cow (yay!)
"Sun's Song"- changes it from day to night or night to day
"Song of Storms"- makes it rain to end fires in Kakariko Village, open the well, water magic beans, or open secret holes
"Song of Time"- makes blue time blocks evaporate, opens Temple of Light
"Prelude of Light"- Warps you to the Temple of Time
"Minuet of Forest"- Warps you to the Sacred Forest Meadow
"Bolero of Fire"- Warps you to Death Mountain Crater
"Serenade of Water"- Warps you to Lake Hylia
"Nocturne of Shadow"- Warps you to Kakariko Graveyard
"Requiem of Spirit" (my favorite) - Warps you to the Desert Colossus
"Scarecrow Song"- Play a song you can remember to Bonooru, the scarecrow in Lake Hylia, as a child. Play this song as an adult to summon Pierre, Bonooru's friend, to use as a Hook Shot target

Answer: The Sacred Forest Meadow

The Sacred Forest Meadow is home to some interesting stuff. To get there, you can follow the music, or go right, then left, then right, then left, then straight, then left. It is also the home of the entrance to the forest temple, is where you learn the Minuet of Forest, and houses a warp platform.

When you first enter the Sacred Forest Meadow, there is a whole that you can enter with a Wolfos and a rupee prize. As a child, the meadow is guarded by Deku Scrubs. You can kill them by reflecting their nuts back at them with your Deku Shield, or simply by running up to them and slashing them with your sword.

As an adult, it is guarded by pig-like monsters called Moblins. The best way to kill moblins is to Hook Shot them (or long shot) from the back.

Answer: 2 3 1

This kidney-bursting secret is revealed to you by one of these Deku Scrubs' traitorous brothers! You learn it on the second to last floor of the Deku Tree (the bottom being Gohma's lair). When you do stun the three Scrubs, they reveal another secret to help you defeat "Queeny". Basically, all you need to do to defeat the air headed arachnid is to stun her with deku nuts while she is on the ground, and then slash her with your sword on the eye. Or, you can slingshot her eye while it's red and then slash it. Such fun!

Answer: Goron Ruby

The original resting place of this radiant red semi-precious spiritual stone was on a wooden shrine suspended over Goron City, held in its place by six sturdy ropes, anchored to the uppermost of the four concentric circular volcanic stone layers by six more, fine wooden planks. On the shrine, is a semi-circular wooden pedestal, with an indentation intended to accommodate the sacred Goron Ruby.

However, when you first enter Goron City, the shrine and pedestal are empty. Beside the empty pedestal is a Goron. Talk to the Goron, and he will share that he so desired to 'feast upon the lovely stone', unknowing of course of the value and divinity of its composition. Soon, however, you will discover that in fact, Darunia (refer to Interesting Info 3) holds the desired gem, due to the threat leaking from the once accommodating Dodongo's Cavern. To gain the majestic king's trust, you must play the joyful tune of Saria's Song (Interesting Infos 7 and 8) for him.

He will then send you on a noble quest, to conquer the vile beast lurking in the depths of Dodongo's Cavern, returning this crevice to its former usefulness. If you accomplish this heroic deed, Darunia shall bestow upon you the radiant gem, and you will become Sworn Brothers. Wow! I'm gonna' ace my vocab quiz!
