Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Time to prepare for the final chapter of the game. Which of these things can you not do before heading off to save the Princess?

Answer: Acquire Ms. Mowz as a party member

Ms. Mowz can only be found and added to the party in the sequel to this game: "Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door". On the other hand, all of the rest of these tasks can be done by the end of Chapter 7. The Mega Quake badge (which uses 5 BP) can be purchased from Rolf after Chapter 5 for 200 coins.

The Lucky Day badge can be obtained after finishing the Chain Mail side-quest after Mario reaches the snowy world found in Chapter 7. Gold Credit for the playhouse in Toad Town (near the train station) can be received from Koopa Koot if you complete his errands all the way through Chapter 3. If you continue with these favours you'll keep receiving coins and Star Pieces.
2. To get to Peach's Castle, Mario needs to go to Star Haven. Where can Mario go to access this?

Answer: Shooting Star Summit

As soon as he finishes Chapter 7 and returns to Toad Town, Mario can make his way north to where Princess Peach's Castle once stood to climb to the top of Shooting Star Summit, an area he last needed to visit before Chapter 1 to meet the Star Spirits' holograms. Now, with all of the Star Spirits returned to their normal states, Mario can utilize their powers to advance into the night sky and to the small town of Star Haven, the last outpost before he progresses to the castle floating above in the heavens.
3. Star Haven contains a shop.

Answer: True

Star Haven, found at the end of Star Way, is home to a few different stars (all younger in age than the Star Spirits, of course) and it's the last vestige of safety before entering Bowser's Lair and Princess Peach's Castle. Here, Mario can find his way to a Toad House, a Save Block, and a shop (which sells Life Shrooms and other useful items).

When he's ready to carry on, Mario can head to the temple to the east of the town to meet up with the Star Spirits he's saved along his quest.
4. What power do the Star Spirits bestow upon Mario in their temple?

Answer: Star Beam

According to Eldstar when he bestows the power upon Mario, the Star Beam can be used during the battle with Mario in order to drain the power of the almighty Star Rod when Bowser uses it to make himself invulnerable. In addition, Mario is given the Star Ship, a transportation device used to reach Bowser's Castle in the sky.

This is the only way Mario can reach the final stage of the game. As Mario floats into the mouth of Bowser's floating fortress, the Toads of Mushroom Kingdom make a wish on the ship (which they think is a shooting star).

The final chapter begins.
5. Mario, heading through Bowser's Castle, will come across a Guard Door. What happens when Mario talks to it?

Answer: He drops into a prison cell

Although most of the enemies in Bowser's Castle are the typical armored Koopas and Hammer Bros., Mario will eventually come across a large door bearing the likeness of Bowser's face. It will ask if he wishes to proceed and position Mario in front of him before dropping him into a prison cell in the cellar below (containing a number of Toads held prisoner). Using Bombette (as usual), Mario can explode his way through the walls of the cell. And so begins a lengthy series of tasks involving several members of the party performing tasks designed to exhibit their individual skills. Once you get back to the door, it'll open for you.
6. Mario fights Jr. Troopa one final time in Princess Peach's Castle.

Answer: False

Towards the end of Bowser's Castle near the entrance to Princess Peach's Castle, Mario will encounter one final Bowser door guarded by none other than the Koopa Bros. Rather than fight them in all their power and glory, you'll actually end up fighting Jr. Troopa one last time (he'll actually get rid of the Koopa Bros. for you). With his multiple powers at his disposal and 60HP, Jr. Troopa will pose for a unique battle.

At the end after his last defeat, the path will open up to Princess Peach's Castle and the final phase of the game.
7. Where is the final battle against Bowser held?

Answer: On a floating platform

Mario can finally explore Princess Peach's near-empty castle for any final items and a last rest stop/Toad House. Heading to the site where he first attempted to battle Bowser in the prologue, he'll find Princess Peach tied up to the ceiling and a battle will commence.

While Bowser (who only has 50HP) will attempt to use the Star Rod to make himself invincible, you can remove all effects of this item using the Star Beam bestowed upon you earlier in the chapter. Although Bowser can also heal himself with the Star Rod, the battle is merely a warm-up. Completion of the battle will result in Bowser advancing to the rooftop of Princess Peach's Castle where the real main event will take place on a floating platform.
8. Who attacks Kammy Koopa during the final battle?

Answer: Twink

As the battle begins, Kammy Koopa will use a spell to grant Bowser more power (in which case he'll grow larger and take on an odd, smoky look). The battle will go on fine (with Bowser at 99HP), but as it progresses and he uses the Star Rod, things will obviously get more difficult. Star Beam will no longer be powerful enough to remove the powers of the heavens and Mario will be toast if nothing is done. Luckily, Twink appears and frees Princess Peach from her ropes before they fight Kammy Koopa on the sidelines.

While Twink is initially quite weak, each successive turn allows Peach to use 'Focus' to raise his attack power to a point where he can do substantial damage. Peach's wishes will ultimately be Kammy's undoing and the battle will end after 10HP is dealt to the opponent.
9. What is the new attack (replacing an older, ineffective technique) used to defeat Bowser in the final battle?

Answer: Peach Beam

With Kammy defeated, Twink and Peach can help Mario fight Bowser. Peach, realizing the powers of her wishes, proposes a wish to grant more strength to the Star Spirits. The power floods to them and the seven Star Spirits, along with Twink, are able to counteract any Star Rod powers that Bowser uses to enhance his strength using the improved Star Beam (known as 'Peach Beam').

The battle isn't over though! The Star Rod is still used to refill Bowser's health and empower Bowser in battle, so Mario must use his strongest attacks and tactics to bring down the final boss once and for all. Watch out! Bowser can temporarily remove the powers of Mario's Hammer and Boots half-way through the battle.

When defeated, Bowser will shrink back to normal size and the Star Rod can be reclaimed by Mario. Peach will be saved and Bowser will have no choice but to flee.

The platform and his castle will be destroyed and Mario, Peach, and Princess Peach's Castle will float safely down to the ground.
10. As the credits roll, what happens to the characters of the game?

Answer: They perform in a parade

With the Star Rod back in the possession of the stars themselves, Mushroom Kingdom is returned to normal. Mario is thanked by the Star Spirits and they and Twink return to Star Haven. Mario tells the story to Luigi back and home before they wonder about Mario's companions from the course of his trip. Little do they know, Parakarry is delivering important letters from the Princess to all of them regarding a party at the castle. Mario and Luigi both receive their invite and head to the castle (with Luigi taking a quick detour for undisclosed reasons).

The town is filled with friendly faces from around the Kingdom before he reaches Peach at the castle and everyone celebrates the special day. For their good fortune, prosperity, and the return of the Star Rod, everyone enjoys the festivities and proceeding parade (marshaled by Luigi) including floats and performances by many of the favourite faces of the game.
