Although you get to ride on a number of airships in "Final Fantasy 9", you only get to pilot the Hildegard 3 and the Invincible. The Invincible is stolen from Garland in Terra.

Yggdrasil is the name of the Tree of Life in Norse Mythology. The tree was guarded by the God, Odin. Odin and Yggdrasil are both names that are commonly used in video games. The reason the ship was called the Yggdrasil 3 is because it was modified twice. First by the Yggdrasil's crew when the ship was rebuilt after being destroyed by Id and again by the engineers of the aerial city of Shevat to allow it to fly.

The Eldridge and the Excaliber are both from "Xenogears", but you cannot pilot them. The Durandal is from "Xenosaga".

For the majority of the game it is believed that the Granasaber was a sword. Once it was found, the Android, Tio, was able to activate it, causing it to show its true form as an airship.

The claws were used to carry Adel's Tomb into space and to anchor the ship to the Lunitic Pandora. Gene Starwind's Ship, the Outlaw Star had similar Arms called Grapplers in the Anime, "Outlaw Star". If you thought it was the Eye of Desturction, you were wrong because that is the special weapon of the Invincible from "Final Fantasy 9".

The Positron Cannon was the special weapon of the Calnus from "Star Ocean; The Second Story" and the Gravity Cannon was the special weapon of the Gear, Seibzhen, from "Xenogears".
