Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the currency in the Super Nintendo game "The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past"?

Answer: rupees

Rupees can be used to buy potions, shields, and other useful items in several Zelda games. In "A Link to the Past", green rupees are worth only one, blue rupees are worth five, and red rupees are worth twenty.
2. What currency would Cloud Strife use to buy his weapons?

Answer: gil

Cloud Strife is the main character of "Final Fantasy VII". Although gil is used in this game as the main currency, GP is exchanged for prizes in the Gold Saucer.
3. Gold is the name of the currency in "The Legend of Dragoon".

Answer: True

Gold is an all too rare commodity in "The Legend of Dragoon". Although cure items in this game are relatively cheap, accessories take some time to save up for. Star Dust can also be collected and exchanged for items at a certain point in the game.
4. In which of these games is the main currency dollars?

Answer: Earthbound

"Earthbound" for the Super Nintendo is a unique RPG in that it is set in a more realistic and modern world than most others. The currency here adds to that feeling; a dollar is more 'real' to most players than GP or gil. Dollars can be spent at bakeries, drug stores, hotels, burger joints, and even payphones!
5. Which of these currencies is NOT used in "Secret of Evermore" for the Super Nintendo?

Answer: feathers

"Secret of Evermore" by Squaresoft involves going through different periods of time so that the main character can return to his own time. Talons are used in the prehistoric period, gold in medieval times, and credits in the future. Jewels are also used in a time period comparable to that of ancient Rome.
6. Neko the purple cat sells several useful items, but at twice the price of other stores. What currency would I use to pay him if I were to visit his store on my way to see Sage Luka at the Water Palace?

Answer: GP

Neko sells items on "Secret of Mana" for the Super Nintendo. His shop offers the earliest opportunity to buy the useful Faerie Walnut which recovers magic points. At the end of the game, Neko sells the most powerful armor that is buyable in stores.
7. What currency is accepted in Serge's hometown of Arni Village?

Answer: G

Serge is the main character of Squaresoft's "Chrono Cross" for the Playstation. "Chrono Cross" uses the same currency as its predecessor, "Chrono Trigger". Money alone can be used to buy magic spells on "Chrono Cross", but raw materials are also necessary for weapons, armor, and accessories.
8. Nash just joined my party equipped with Mia's Bromide 1. Though Bromides can't be bought with currency in this game, many other things can. What currency is used in this game?

Answer: silver

Working Designs is responsible for "Lunar: Silver Star Story" for the Playstation. As in most role playing games, money is used for weapons, armor, and items. There are no inns in this game; recovery is achieved by checking the statue of Althena in towns and even some dungeons.
9. What would Toan use to buy a Wise Owl Sword in "Dark Cloud"?

Answer: gilda

"Dark Cloud" is an early RPG on the Playstation 2. The Wise Owl Sword is available in Matataki Village from the Wise Owl Shop. There is a lot to buy on this time consuming game, from fishing bait to healing items to weapon upgrade attachments.
10. There's some Magicite up for bid at the Auction House in Jidoor! Quick, I've got to bid on it, but just what currency am I bidding with?

Answer: GP

GP is the main currency in "Final Fantasy VI" for both the Super Nintendo and the Playstation. The Auction House in Jidoor has many useful items along with a few nonuseful ones, such as an Imp Robot. Zoneseek is one Magicite piece available at the Auction House. There may be others, though...
