Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many tombs can be found in "Tomb Raider" (2013)? Note: All potential DLC content is included.

Answer: Eight

The core game only contains seven tombs throughout the island setting of "Tomb Raider", but the DLC (and deluxe version of the game) adds another as a bonus. But what "Tomb Raider" game could be without tombs to raid? In this game, tombs aren't completely essential, but navigating them will result in rewards (usually in the form of Treasure Charts) and skill points which can be redeemed for skills at campfires.

They're worth the effort.
2. Considered DLC, the Tomb of the Lost Adventurer is theoretically the earliest tomb that can be accessed in the game.

Answer: True

Available as an exclusive pre-order bonus, Tomb of the Lost Adventurer was later built into the 'Definitive Edition' of "Tomb Raider" and thus accessible to all players at that point. Appearing earlier than any other tomb in the game, this location can be found carved into a cliff wall in the Coastal Forest map (on the side containing the gate).

The tomb is characterized by a large, downed plane in its center, only accessible if you burn key points and create your own path to the prizes inside.
3. One of the first tombs accessed in the game, the Tomb of the Unworthy is only reachable if you collect which item?

Answer: Climbing Axe

If not for DLC inclusions, the Tomb of the Unworthy would be the first tomb Lara can reach during the game. Found in a cave behind a high waterfall, this tomb is only accessible if you collect the Climbing Axe from Roth on your first visit to the Mountain Village which, coincidentally, is where the entrance to that tomb sits.

It's a relatively small tomb with a single puzzle to be completed to reach the treasure inside-- a treasure map and some experience.
4. Which of these environmental effects has the most influence in the Hall of Ascension?

Answer: Wind

The Hall of Ascension, while in a cave, is affected greatly by gale force winds that whip through the underground crevasse. Here, Lara can enter a massive temple and utilize the mechanisms inside to reach a hidden-away treasure chest, but to do that she needs to have her timing on-point. To ascend, so to speak, she'll need to shut the windows in the room, rush over to a pulley system, and operate things (and move herself) properly to get high enough to reach the climbing walls.

This all results in a partial Treasure Map.
5. In the Well of Tears, what is used to weigh down the platform?

Answer: Jerrycans

The Well of Tears can be found by pulling back the floorboards in a sacrificial room of the Shantytown church. Descending into this tomb isn't too difficult and the tomb itself isn't too dangerous. Once inside, the only real puzzle is the platform. You need to weigh it down using three of the four jerrycans found in the cave, then remove them and run around to catch the platform as it rides back up. Finishing the tomb will reward Lara with a treasure map.
6. The Chamber of Judgment is attached to what other region of the map?

Answer: Shantytown

This tomb shares the Shantytown map with the Well of Tears though it's further along in terms of exploration. To get inside, Lara needs to enter the caves adjacent to the gondola tower and slide her way in (safely!). Getting inside can be a precarious situation, but if Lara navigates the ledges and gets in, then it's just another physics puzzle to solve to get the rewards.

This time, Lara needs to use jerrycans to tip a ramp in the right direction, enabling her to ascend to a climbable wall.
7. Which of these is required to pass through Stormguard Sanctum?

Answer: Fire Arrows

Found in a cavern off to the side in the Summit Forest, the Stormguard Sanctum contains little more than a partial Treasure Map, but it's a short trip to make a visit there. The tomb is one of the smaller ones, only containing a handful of platforms leading to a high cavern, but to get up there Lara needs to shoot Fire Arrows into a cave crevice leaking with natural gas. If she can blow that up, clear out the gas, and advance in due time, that's all it really takes to get the prize.
8. The Flooded Vault contains hazards of which nature?

Answer: Electrical

Likely a former research facility tracking the island's storms, The Flooded Vault is one of two tombs along the Shipwreck Beach. Found up in the cliffs (and at the end of a long, narrow cavern), the Flooded Vault is the penultimate tomb that Lara can visit in the game.

After attending to a couple of working control panels, Lara will need to cross an electrified room (using a makeshift raft to block the offending danger). This tomb is, thus, deadlier than a lot of the others visited in the game.
9. The Temple of Handmaidens is only accessible once Lara obtains which of these?

Answer: Rope Ascender

Found on the sands of Shipwreck Beach, Lara will likely come across this tomb's entrance before the Flooded Vault (which is higher along the cliffs further on the route), but she won't be able to enter without the game's final obtainable item, the Rope Ascender, which she'll get from a fight on the deck of the Endurance. Once she tears the detritus away from the door, she can head inside and try to solve a puzzle involving a buoy and spinning pillars that will lead to the final reward.

This is the last tomb to be reachable in the general chronology of the game.
10. Completion of all tombs will allow a player to receive which achievement?

Answer: Intellectually Superior

Consistent across Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PC versions of the game, the player will be able to receive an achievement for accomplishing what may be considered the goal of the tomb raider proper-- raiding tombs. Although nearly all collectible-based achievements for the game upgrade when Lara collects 25%, 50%, and 75% of total items), the tomb-specific achievement only ticks as complete when all eight are done in full and Lara has collected her prize at the end of each (whether or not that's a weapon component, skill point, or map piece).

There's also an achievement for a single optional tomb completion-- 'One Smart Cookie'-- and you can get it from any of them.
