Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the real name of Lara's butler who featured in "Tomb Raider 2" and "Tomb Raider 2 Gold", "Tomb Raider 3", "Tomb Raider: The Lost Artifact", and Tomb Raider Chronicles"?

Answer: Winston

Originally famed for his grunting in the training level of "Tomb Raider 2", Winston went on to be shot at in "Tomb Raider 3" by his own employee (while wearing bulletproof armor) and played a reasonably large part in the story of "Tomb Raider: Chronicles".
2. While travelling through Aldwych in "Tomb Raider 3", Lara encountered a group of men, known as The Damned, who had had their faces removed while being experimented on. These experiments had led to immortality. Lara met up with their leader after falling into Lud's Gate, and kindly retrieved some Embalming Fluid for him. What kind of Briton was the leader of The Damned?

Answer: Geordie

Geordies are people from northern areas of England such as Newcastle, and are distinguishable by their accents and dialect. The leader of The Damned gave away a few hints at his background: 1): He said that he came down from the north (Newcastle to London is about seven hours in a car) to look for work, and 2): He used words and/or phrases such as "way-aye man" (That's right), and "cannae whack it man" (Can't beat it).
3. After Lara had made her way into the Fiamma Nera's Offshore Rig in "Tomb Raider 2", Lara met a Tibetan monk who was being attacked by Marco Bartoli and his goons for information. Lara fended off the attackers, before being mistaken for "a pathbeater to the next incarnation" by the dying monk, listening to his story, and changing into a wetsuit. Unfortunately, Marco Bartoli silenced him with a pistol. What was the name of the monk?

Answer: Brother Chan Barkhang

His name was briefly mentioned in his conversation with Lara. Brother Chan Barkhang was the son of the founder of the Barkhang Monastery, under which laid The Talion. Chan's father bombed the ship of Gianni Bartoli (Marco's father) to prevent him from using the Seraph to ultimately access The Dagger of Xian.
4. Which of these in-game bosses in "Tomb Raider 3" did Lara NOT have a conversation with before she killed them?

Answer: Puna

Lara infiltrated Puna's South Pacific temple, where he attacked her by throwing lightning bolts and summoning Komodo Dragons. These powers were granted to him by Element 115 (or the Ora Dagger for PSX gamers), but Lara defeated this god-like man and claimed his artifact.
5. Which one of these bosses from the "Tomb Raider" series was blonde, developed wings, and to this day is one of the most popular game bosses in the series?

Answer: Jacqueline Natla

Wow, there's a lot of blonde baddies in "Tomb Raider". Jacqueline Natla employed Lara to retrieve part of the "Scion" from the Peruvian Tomb of Qualopec. As the game progresses however, we see Natla's real reasons for wanting the artefact. It is revealed that Natla, along with Qualopec and Tihocan, was one of the three rulers of Atlantis, but was frozen in time for her mutant experiments. An explosion in Los Alomos released her however, and she continued with her pet projects. Ultimately, Lara stopped her, but not until after a fierce battle.
6. In "Tomb Raider: Chronicles", one of the FMV sequences contains this line: "And as the horsemen drove ever onward across the world, the heavens boiled in their wake." But who says it?

Answer: Father Bram Patrick Dunstan

Father Bram Patrick Dunstan, an Irish priest who'd known Lara since she was a "wee lass", tells us the story of his and Lara's adventures with the demons on the Outer Canoussey Islands. Of course, the gamer plays them rather than hears about them, but you know what I mean.
7. In "Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness", Lara needs to get into Le Serpent Rouge to find a package. She will then give this package to one of three people to gain access to Louis Bouchard. Which person who wants the package is the only one who does not ask for money from Lara?

Answer: Pierre, the Café Metro owner

Pierre is the only one who does not ask for money from Lara at any point. Bernard asks for money before he gives you the key to Le Serpent Rouge, and The Doorman asks for it if you take him the box before visiting anyone else. Incidentally, taking Pierre's route also gives you the added bonus of an extra cutscene, a conversation with his ex-girlfriend, a pawnable Sports Watch, a quick jaunt over some more rooftops, and a few assorted items. AND ALL FOR FREE!
8. In "Tomb Raider: The Lost Artifact", there is a level named Shakespeare Cliff. It is here where Lara discovers a tunnel to a secret underwater base, as well as some creatures that are supposedly extinct. On many of the items in this level, such as the boxes and the Quadbike, is the logo SLinc. It stands to reason then, that all the workers in the level are working for SLinc. The last level of this game, as well as the City level in "Tomb Raider 3", gives the player a good idea of what SLinc stands for. So after you had beaten this game, who would you guess is the owner of SLinc?

Answer: Sophia Leigh

Sophia Leigh INCorporated. Yes, the infamous Sophia Leigh, the only "Tomb Raider" boss that appeared and died in two games. In "Tomb Raider 3", it was revealed that she had been working towards gaining immortality. This is given away by the conversations with the Thames Wharf gunman and the Leader of the Damned after falling through a hole in Aldwych in "Tomb Raider 3".

In the end, Lara killed Sophia by electrocution, before retrieving the Eye of Isis, which she had been using to help gain immortality.

However, in "Tomb Raider: The Lost Artifact", Sophia got to Willard's Lair before Lara and took the Hand of Rathmore, and sparked a chase which went from Scotland, to Dover, and ultimately a cave beneath a French zoo, where Lara destroyed Sophia once more in a climactic battle.
9. In "Tomb Raider: Chronicles", Winston tells the story of how Lara stole back the "Iris" from the VCI (Von Croy Industries) building. To do this however, Lara employed Zip, an African-American techno geek who spends most of the VCI section making wisecracks and "trying" to help Lara retrieve the Iris from a computer-filled black van. But does Zip tell Lara she has a bony posterior or not? (He doesn't actually say posterior.)

Answer: True

Throughout this portion of the game, Lara combats Zips cheeky and humourous comments with dry sarcasm, providing a little relief in the hardest part of the game. This is one of the last things he says to her, as she escapes out of the VCI building with the Iris.
10. Once Lara Croft became a major icon, Core Design/Eidos released biographies about her, such as her likes and dislikes. But WHAT is Lara's ONLY FEAR?

Answer: Corgis

Yes. Lara Croft is scared of small dogs. According to her official bios, she once visited an aunt as a child where she was bitten by one of the aunt's Corgis. Incidentally, Corgis are dogs normally associated with royalty. Queen Elizabeth II of England is very fond of Corgis.
So if you ever want to hurt Lara, go to the Pet Shop rather than an Armory. Thanks for playing!
