Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. There's nothing for you to do in Lavender Town right now, but if you head west, to Celadon City, you may find a few things of interest. There are many things in Celadon, but which of these cannot be found in this grand city?

Answer: Silph Co

In the Mansion you can find the staff of Game Freak, the company that made this game, and if you sneak around and enter through the back door (you'll need Cut), you'll be able to find a room in which you can pick up an Eevee. The Department Store is a massive Pokémon Mart.

The gym is where you can get a badge; you should know that by now. The Silph Co building is actually in Saffron City, which is one town east of Celadon City.
2. What is the name of the Celadon Gym Badge?

Answer: Rainbow Badge

Erika, the Gym Leader, along with her underlings, uses Grass-type Pokémon. There are plenty of underling trainers in her gym that you may want to battle first. They give you extra experience, and you can't battle them after you've beaten the Gym Leader.

When you beat Erika, she'll hand over the Rainbow Badge, as well as TM 21 (Mega Drain), which is kind of like Absorb, but powered up a bunch.
3. In the Celadon Game Corner, where is the switch to open the entrance to Team Rocket's secret hideout?

Answer: Behind the poster

The guy in the warehouse in the south-eastern part of town (beside the restaurant) informs you that there are absolutely no switches behind a single poster in the Game Corner. Inconspicuously, you can go down to the game Corner, seeming as if you're intending to try your luck at the slots, and check for yourself.

There also happens to be a Team Rocket member standing in front of the only poster in the room. If you try to talk to him, he'll end up overreacting and attack you. After he's been beaten, you can check the poster that the Team Rocket member was standing in front of, that supposedly has absolutely no switch behind it that will open a secret entrance to Team Rocket's underground hideout.
4. What is your first objective in the Team Rocket hideout, before looking for Giovanni?

Answer: Get the Lift Key

A majority of your time in the hideout will be spent searching for the Lift Key. There are plenty of Rockets to slow you down, as well as a maze of conveyor belts, and multiple levels. Once you get to the bottom floor and battle the Rocket there, you'll get the Lift Key.

After this, all you have to do is make your way back to the top floor and make your way to the elevator. Insert the key and you'll be taken to the lobby of the boss's room. Battle his guards and enter. After this, it's simple: battle Giovanni, beat him, grab the Silph Scope, and get back to the surface after he's run away.
5. After you have the Silph Scope where should you go to continue your adventure?

Answer: Lavender Tower

If you actually did go into the tower before, you'll know about the ghost that kept tormenting you. With the Silph Scope, you can see the ghosts for what the really are (mostly Gastly and Haunter), but there's also a certain Cubone's late mother, a level thirty Marowak. Defeat it and move to the top floor. Once there, you'll have to battle through a few Rockets to find Mr. Fuji, who's been missing. Mr. Fuji will take you back to his house and give you the Pokéflute.
6. What item is needed to wake the sleeping Snorlaxes blocking Routes 16 and 12?

Answer: Pokéflute

Walk up beside one of the Snorlaxes (there's two, one just south of Lavender Town, and one just west of Celadon City) and use the flute. The Snorlaxs are level thirty, and they come with Rest and a pile of HP.
7. All the guards in the entrance buildings to Saffron City won't let you pass. How do you persuade them into letting you by?

Answer: Give them a drink

No matter which route you try to enter Saffron City from (Route 5, 6, 7, and 8) the guard won't let you pass. However, they're really thirsty, and on top of the department store in Celadon City. Buy any of the three drinks (Fresh Water, Soda Pop, or Lemonade) and give it to the person behind the counter. Whoever he/she is, he/she will share the drink with their coworkers, effectively opening all entrance-ways to Saffron City.
8. What is the large building in the middle of Saffron City?

Answer: The Silph Co building

The Silph Co makes Pokémon products, like the Silph Scope. Team Rocket has taken a bit of an interest in the Silph Co, and have taken over the building (as welll as blocked off a few key buildings, such as the gym). The Silph Co building has numerous items, teleports, big locking doors and many levels. You ultimate objective here is to rescue the President of the Silph Co, who is being held hostage on the top level.
9. What is your reward for saving the Silph Co president?

Answer: Master Ball

After twenty-nine lesser trainers, you to battle the head of Team Rocket, Giovanni, who has an even harder roster than last time. Again, he'll run away and the town will become clear of Team Rocket members. Talk to the president to acquire the Master Ball, the best Pokéball in the game. It can catch any Pokémon without fail. The only thing is that there's only one.
10. In Saffron City there are two gyms. One for the Marsh Badge, and what can you win in the other gym?

Answer: A Pokémon

There is a gym for Fighting-type Pokémon in Saffron City, and if you're able to beat all the Blackbelts and Karate Master at the end, you win a Pokémon, either Hitmonchan, or Hitmonlee. Hitmonchan is a boxer and can learn a variety of attacks including Ice Punch, Thunder Punch, and Fire Punch. Hitmonlee likes to use his feet, and has more Fighting-type moves.
