Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where can the legendary bird, Zapdos, be found?

Answer: Power Plant

The Power Plant isn't functioning. The rundown plant is swarming with all kinds of Electric-type Pokémon, including Zapdos. The Power Plant is laid out in a relative path with a few antechambers like a maze. At the very end is an alternative exit and the big beast. You're going to want a Ground-type Pokémon for the Power Plant, because those Pokémon without immunities to Electric-type attacks will be ripped apart before you get to the bird unless you have plenty of healing agents.

The only problem with Ground-type Pokémon and attacks is that Zapdos is part Flying, so Ground-type attacks won't affect it.
2. Have you battled the leader of the final Gym before (during the course of the game)?

Answer: Yes

You've battled Giovanni before, twice. He's also the head of Team Rocket and you probably battled him when uprooting one of Team Rocket's big operations (like at the Silph Co). Anyways, this is his legitimate job and you can receive a legitimate badge for beating him. The Earth Badge makes all Pokémon obey you, no matter how high the level.
3. What level is Moltres when you meet it?

Answer: Lv 50

All three legendary birds are Lv 50 when you find them. Moltres is found at the end of a series of passageways in Victory Road (somewhat like the Power Plant, but with more passageways rerouting you towards the exits). You won't have to backtrack to the exits, because there's a boulder that can be pushed with Strength that acts as a one-way path for you to get out.
4. And now, the Elite Four. What kind of Pokémon does Lorelei use?

Answer: Ice

Dewgong, Cloyster, and Lapras are Ice/Water, and Jinx is Ice/Psychic. The only Pokémon without even being half Ice is Slowbro, which is Water/Psychic. Basically, bring a fast Electric-type Pokémon and you'll be able to take down all of Lorelei's Pokémon with relative ease.
5. What is the name of the second Elite Four?

Answer: Bruno

Bruno uses mostly Fighting-type Pokémon (Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee, and Machamp) but also has a pair of Onix. You'll probably want two different Pokémon for this battle. One suited for taking out Fighting-type Pokémon, and another to get rid of the pesky rock-snakes.
6. Agatha, the third Elite Four, mostly uses Ghost-type Pokémon. How many Haunters does she have?

Answer: One

First off, there's only three Ghost-type Pokémon in the game, and they're all in the same line of evolution. Gastly evolves into Haunter, and Haunter evolves into Gengar. All three are only half-Ghost (the other half being Poison). Anyways, back to Agatha.

She has one Haunter, two Gengars (her only Ghost-type Pokémon), a Golbat, and an Arbok. Actually, all her Pokémon are at least half-Poison, but she's still considered a user of Ghost-type Pokémon.
7. Most of Lance's Pokémon have a common weakness to which type of attack?

Answer: Ice

All of Lance's Pokémon are part Flying or Dragon. A Gyarados, Aerodactyl, a pair of Dragonairs, and a Dragonite. Dragonite is his highest leveled Pokémon, but it's also the only one that is both Dragon and Flying (double weakness to Ice!). If you picked up that Articuno in Seafoam Islands, now would be a good time to use it.

The only pokemon in Lance's lineup that does not suffer a weakness to ice-type attacks is Gyarados.
8. There. You've beaten the Elite Four. But is it over? Of course not! Who do you get to battle after defeating Lance?

Answer: Your Rival

It turns out that your rival beat the Elite Four just before you, and that you'll have to beat him to gain the title of Champion. There is no one or two types of Pokémon you can use in this battle. Your rival has six Pokémon, each a different type, and his strongest will have a type advantage against your starter Pokémon. Basically, exploit every weakness you can and hope you can heal your Pokémon fast enough.

Regardless of your starter, your rival will have Pidgeot (flying/normal), Alakazam (psychic), and Rhydon (rock/ground). He will also have a grass type, a water type, and a fire type. The non-started versions for each of these, respectively, are: Exeggutor (grass/psychic), Gyarados (water/flying), and Arcanine (fire).
9. Once you've achieved the title of Champion, there will be a new location opened up for you, Cerulean Cave. How many floors does this cave have?

Answer: Three

Unknown Dungeon is laid out with the same principles of Victory Road in mind. There's plenty of routes that will lead you backwards, or otherwise. The only HM you need is 03 (Surf). Otherwise, it's just trying different ladders, picking up the random items scattered throughout the cave.
10. What is the name of the legendary Pokémon inside the cave just off of Cerulean City?

Answer: Mewtwo

Mewtwo was genetically engineered from the DNA of the elusive Mew. Mewtwo can be found at the end of the only real "dead-end" in the unknown Dungeon. There's a certain series of ladders you have to take from the star to reach Mewtwo, but you may want to try some other ladders, as there are plenty of interesting items.

When you find Mewtwo he's Lv 70 and probably the hardest Pokémon to capture (unless you saved that Master Ball). Mewtwo also has the greatest overall stats score in the game.
